Texas flooding survivor & witness reaction to Kerrville damage, search & rescues: 'Complete shock'

  • Published on Nov 12, 2025
  • A Kerrville resident said he and his wife were taken 200 feet down the Guadalupe River and managed to survive while his home was damaged by the flooding.
    "It was scary," Scott Walden said while describing the speed of which the water rose. "It was really scary."
    Meanwhile, a Pennsylvania woman visiting family in the area said she remains in shock, especially given the volume of missing adults and children, many from Camp Mystic.
    "It's not going to be a good ending," Tonia Fucci said. "There's no way people could have survived the swiftness of the water."

    Thank you for this perspective. Seeing that river so far down from where those houses are sitting damaged above shows the incredible heights the water came. Unbelievable tragedy.

      "Prayers sent up for miracles" Wow, that's so wacked out on so many levels. Just don't get too hopeful of anything helpful coming from that, no miracles, not even a get well card, Nothing is what you can count on every single time you mumble shit to yourself calling it a prayer. NOTHING fails like prayer and it's testable and so easy to prove the only reason not to do so is because you don't want to see the result of seeing if it works or is flat out stupidity. If you had the slightest belief it had any possible chance in hell of doing anything you'd be on a non-stop prayer fest coming up on everything imaginable but your not, why? Because you know full well what a farce it is so save it, keep your prayers, nobody is thinking how wonderful you must be for generously giving your worthless prayers that you probably don't even actually say anyway do you? You just say "Prayers to" and thats as far as your effort goes because it doesn't matter anyway why even bother actually saying the dumb prayers, just act like you do? Its all so old and worn and sick.

      @Shawn-yp9ic 4 months ago

      Yea just like like that. Both had water. But this one is much different because nobody had any warning because Trump just became president and slashed funding for the National Weather Service calling it "WASTE" so nobody had any warning how big the storm was coming at them where in Sept Biden did not see the National Weather Service as "wastful" and the people had sufficient warning. Also this disaster had no FEMA response on the ground immediately after because Trump also slashed funding for FEMA and stripped what funds Biden had already provided using that money to build his new Alligator Alcatraz prison which was not a waste and said FEMA should be eliminated because it's not needed. So we got a new prison we need and help and warning we don't need. Drill Baby Drill!

    • @Shawn-yp9ic
      @Shawn-yp9ic 4 months ago

      Not really, that one happened with advanced warning of the flood coming so people weren't just blind sided by it well it slammed into them with no notice before hand that they were gonna be hit with a big flood very suddenly. Because the National weather service hadn't been slashed yet as "waste" so this one is much different and the victims in this one had no chance or warning of what was coming and the lack of caring about our citizens recieving these warnings wasn't an issue back then. It makes this one so much worse that the warning system was intentionally cut up and taken away, it's so sad.

      What about people not affected by this storm? We don't get a blessing, do we have to die or have a loved one killed before we get a blessing? Why is such a heavy price required just to get you to order god who to bless and not bless as if you are in tight with him like we aren't so we must go thru you to get a blessing? What makes you so sure I can't get blessings and tell him who to bless and get better results than you? Why do you thijnk you so special with al that telling him when and who to bless? And you don't even know the people you instruct him to bless, you just watch a video and start instructing blessings. You really think you know better than him who to bless? Please explain how so? I think you might have some explaining to do when he sees you. If I were you Id consider chillin on ordering him what to do. How about you do you and let god do god? Think you can work with that? Then shut it down Bless Master.

    I heard them say it's up to each county representative to make sure their people were warned and evacuated. The Judge said in the 1st or 2nd press conference he didn't want the roads clogged with people evacuating. A lot of questions that will need answering! First, we need to find everyone 🙏

      Trump defunded the agencies that warn people in cases like this. He also is defunding FEMA so how are people going to rebuild their houses and lives? My friend in Watsonville had her house flooded 2x a couple of years ago. If it wasn't for FEMA, she could not have repaired the damage! These are the things our tax dollars should be paying for not tax breaks to billionaires!

    • @Shawn-yp9ic
      @Shawn-yp9ic 4 months ago +6

      Just a tragedy, who could have known that we might need the National Weather Service and allowing DOGE to slash it's funding could have this kind of result? Who could have predicted electing Trump might lead to FEMA getting slashed, funding for FEMA being used to build his new Alligator Alcatraz? Who could have predicted that firing the head of FEMA and stripping its funding away calling it "waste" and saying it should not exist would make the agency unprepared to be on the ground leading the recovery efforts in Texas? It's just all so tragic but we'll pray and keep voting for Republican, they are so good at taking care of tax cuts for the wealthy who could know that wouldn't be important to victims of disasters. Oh and keep laughing about climate change too, what change? This happens every day. Don't be silly. It's all Biden's fault.

    • @Shawn-yp9ic
      @Shawn-yp9ic 4 months ago +1

      You "heard them say" it's up to each county to make sure their people were warned? Well, guess what? Each county doesn't have the ability to develop their own weather Service. They ALL get their information from the same place, The National Weather Service. And that National Weather Service just had 40 % of it's funding slashed by the Chain Saw wielding Elon Musk laughing while thinking it was so funny and claiming it was govt "waste". This is what TRUMP set in motion because Elon gave him $300 million in campaign funds so Trump let him slash "the waste". That's why each county had no possible way to warn it's citizens about the size of the flood coming at them so nobody knew how big it was. But DOGE "saved" all that money by firing the people who would have warned you if they hadn't been called "a waste" and fired by Trump. And despite what you "Heard" about how things should be done at each county the truth is FEMA, a federal agency that TRUMP slashed funding to and fired the head of would normally be there leading the recovery but Trump said it shouldn't exist, FEMA is suppose to be there on the ground leading the recovery and directing the federal response and providing the resources to each county to help you. I see no FEMA or even any mention of FEMA or Kristy Noem who agreed FEMA should be eliminated, in fact she and Trump just stripped millions of dollars from FEMA's funds and used it to build Trump's new Alligator Alcatraz Prison in Florida and is all proud of taking away the funding that should be getting used to help in Texas at the disaster he caused by eliminating the ability to predict it. Go figure. So don't believe everything "you hear" and wake tf up! And you might want to re-think how much climate change is ridiculous and "Drill Baby Drill" isn't the smartest thing Trump says. Good luck!

      Wow, so generous with "prayers to" comments. Aren't "people who have lost loves" in it and "everyone in the path" of it the same? @Shawn-yp9ic Sir I pray for their suffering. I don't know if u ever lost a child? I have and it's something u never get over. I pray for God to give them strength and peace to handle their pain. I pray for those whom lost everything they owned. It's heart breaking bc they worked hard for it. They have to start all over. Some may not have the funds to do so..they need prayers also for strength and peace. I also pray for those helping to rescue these lost ones. I can't even imagine finding a child r anyone who lost thir lives. That is something that they will never forget. They need strenght also and peace. Even for those who did survive. They also need God to give them strength bc so many feel a sense of guilt. And yes I do say alot of prayers and it may take time. But power is in our prayers. And I will also pray for u..that God will give you knowledge to know that he hears our prayers for whatever they maybe for. Love,strength, comfort,forgiveness and peace. God bless u and everyone. Our country needs to be in prayer for each other. If I offended you or anyone I am truly sorry. BUT I BELIEVE IN THE LORD AND PRAYERS.

      Can even you connect the dots between slashing the funding for the National Weather Service and no warning to the people prior to this flood about what size it was? Can you connect the dots between Trump slashing the funding for FEMA and saying it shouldn't exist and no help or federal assistance on the ground after this storm with no warning? Even I can see the relation. Can you see Texas being a Deep RED state and voting Trump and then suffering the repercussions of electing someone who cuts vital services to give tax breaks to billionairs? Even I can see that. Is climate change really funny and Drill Baby Drill all that smart? Even I can see that it's probably not all that great of an idea.

People have been praying for his help to end the war in Ukraine for over three years so far and he hasn't done a thing to help with that. My guess would be you probably shouldn't sit around praying for god to provide even a tinny bit of help at all because you won't get any help from him. The only help you'll get is from people. If god was the least bit concerned with you why would he have sent that storm in the first place? So he would need to help you with it's destruction? Make any sense to you yet? Every minute you spend praying is a minute you don't spend doing anything about it. Every minute you spend talking about your time spent praying is double time wasted for nothing. We all know already that you'll be praying, no need to tell us about it just get busy and start doing something now.

    She is incorrect on the notifications - we were heading back into town, and we were receiving weather alerts all evening in regards to "Flash Flooding." One of the biggest issues is that itself. We always get these alerts, so people tend not to take them seriously, but how would anybody know what was to come. I don't believe there is software or piece of equipment in the world that could tell you when/ where and exactly how much water will fall.

      This is where the mindset needs to change. We know that 6ins of rain in one hour in Texas is disaster. Once 6ins or more is forecast, we should be on high alert when we live near water courses! Didn’t this happen in 1987? Isn’t there a plaque somewhere to mark the lives of those lost? We need to know our risks and vulnerabilities!

    What an awful tragedy and trauma. Maybe people living near rivers should keep life jackets and safety helmets within reach in their homes (or businesses or camps), they might or might not protect them from drowning in a flood and being hit by debris, but certainly might be better than nothing 😢 One girl survived without these even after being swept 20 miles in the river, into a tree.😢

    This extreme level of flooding did occur in the same area back in 1987. So calling it a 40-year flood event would actually be more accurate of an assessment.
    Also, when looking at the before pictures of the Guadalupe river basin, you can clearly see how wide of path this river is capable of cutting during extreme rain events.
    And as everyone kmows, Texas is the one state capable of having massive flooding events during the summer months as witnessed by tropical storm Allison, hurricane Harvey and now this event which was enhanced from the remnants of tropical storm Barry that moved up through Mexico.

      @Liberty6010and9 4 months ago +6

      Oh we have had terrential down pours happen here in the Denver metro n western suburbs for as long as I have been alive. It's nothing new at all. This was not just a terrential down pour. This was the remnants of a tropical depression that stalled out over that area and dumped 12-15 inches of rain in an hour. Nobody could predict that. The NWS and NOAA both predicted 3-6 inches of rain total. And that's exactly what it would have been had the depression not stalled out completely and sat on top of that area just dumping water. Ppl need to face it, life is not safe. It does not matter where you live. A storm can stall and cause a flash flood. Instead of looking for somebody to blame, be kind, and try to help.

The fact that this wouldn't have happened under kamala, seeing how trump was the one that fired meteorologists and cut early warning systems and don't forget he gutted FEMA. But keep pretending this is some strange rare occurrence, the only reason you're hearing about it is because unlike 100% of the time before the reich this never happened, you can expect more people to perish when it could've been prevented. They are blaming prior administrations, that’s also false.
      It’s the fault of this current administration that can’t even give a press conference sending thoughts and prayers to any of these states that have been hit by natural disasters since he came into office, no fema funding…..

      @Matt-lq9xdnot true, I live in Alabama 10 blocks from the dock, weather services study storms an rain precipitation everyday, if Noah was available 5 days or more of anticipated heavy rain fall gives warning in low areas prone to floods and areas close to water. , Texas has land borders and a big water border and beaches as well as rivers an other large bodies of water so the same warnings for expected hurricanes would be the same for heavy rains

      So? Are people suppose to never sleep because there are warning signs? Or are they used to counting on the National Weather Service to provide solid warnings but didn't take into consideration the fact that Trump cut funding to the NWS and called it "waste" and claimed it was "savings" by Elon? Maybe now we know that slashing the very source of our way to know whats coming at us isn't really "saving" anything, it's actually costing us big time and the capability we had developed before Trump slashed it was done for a dam good reason and possibly Trump DOGE and Elon shouldn't be slashing things they have no idea about and trust that they are not wiser than the entire federal government that was built before they came along ripping it up with a chain saw and laughing about it?Where is FEMA now? Oh thats right, Trump slashed it too and took its funding and spent it building his new prison in Florida! Oh well, you get what you voted for. Back to counting on warning signs for possible floods, real helpful.

    Children camping in groups, should have been given wristband tracking tags.
    Emergency alert systems need to be installed and tested monthly.
    Wearing orange vest or orange summer jackets, that could be turn into flooding devices,
    need to be mandatory.

      Orange windbreak jackets. Also, designated, high and dry safe zones area, where people can stay overnight. I live by a train track, and I don't mind, when the "WARNING" blows at 3:00am.
      There should be 'Warning whist's, blowing all over the place. So, people can jump into action.

    Most shocking thing for me is that there was no warning. No sirens, no emergency messages sent by government - no one is talking about this. I dont mean warnings issues hour before, but during the event. Watter was rising two hours but how it comes that the upperstream goverment did not warned downstream areas that there is a flood coming their way? Or it is only in europe that upperstream areas inform in real time about possible problem in downstram due to heavy rain?

      You are wrong. God took His wrath out on Jesus on the cross, which is why Jesus said, “It is finished”. He will take His wrath out on unbelievers during the last days, but if you are a believer, you won’t be here.
