I see Staffordshire Police have just made a comment about this video on their Facebook Page.
    facebook.com/staffordshirepolice/
They even have the temerity to reinforce the two officer's ridiculous conceit that they were 'concerned about his safety'. Threatening to charge someone for a non existent offence because a police driver is not paying due care and attention to the road is never 'concern about safety' and is in fact 'outward corruption.' I think the police's Facebook comment just shows how shameless they are. If they genuinely cared about the public's safety then they wouldn't allow a pair of reckless bullies like this to walk among us.
I don't have a Facebook account so I can't comment. I hope everyone who does have one will set them straight.

This is utterly shocking! This gives the police a very bad name which I find very very sad indeed. My parents who were involved with the Royal Navy, my Dad worked at Honington as a shore based rep of the Ark Royal, my mother dealt with the welfare of members who were at sea. From time to time, my mother often got called out to deal with a welfare issue, even in the darkest hours in autumn and winter. Sometimes a policeman would stop my mother and when he heard what my mother was doing. He was very sympathetic with the RN and the problems that senior officer's wives dealt with regarding welfare of dependents, sometimes advised my mother not to overtire herself for the pure reason of safety. By and large, the police were very co-operative and in fact my parents were very friendly with one of them who lived in Sudbury. I feel very sorry to hear all this indeed and I think to preserve their reputation, some of these officers should be dealt with firmly as this is an abuse of power. This is sadly weight throwing as it places the force into an appalling situation of disrepute.

I’ve seen countless videos of police bad behaviour, for some reason this one made me more angry than any other I recall. I had to edit out half of my comments from this video because they were mostly creative insults. However, one piece I cut out is worth repeating here:
It’s my opinion that the reason PC Cotton and PC Buckle were so aggressive and combative to this teenager is because PC Lauren Buckle - the driver of the police vehicle - was clearly not paying due care and attention to the road. Perhaps both her and her cuckold colleague were so incensed by the possibility that Buckle could have got the suspension from driving she so richly deserves, they bullied and threatened this poor lad into submission. It’s a common tactic of the police to mask their own criminality by transposing it onto the victim.
Irrespective of their motives, these two officers are the epitome of the very worst of modern day police officers and they need to find themselves a job more suited to their vile tendencies. Hopefully I can help them on their way of leaving the police force as promptly as possible.

No, you don't. If that was true then no car would ever be able to move at all. You have to drve with due care and attention but with the reasonable expectation that other road users, including pedestrians, will also exercise due care and attention. Good drivers will try to be aware of the possibility that pedestrians, especially young children, may suddenly do something unexpected but since we can't know what is going on inside other people's heads we can't possibly predict every eventuality.

If you see someone standing on the edge of the pavement you should expect them to step out and be able to stop if they do.

No, I haven't driven in France - but then, I wasn't talking about France.
Pedestrians do not, usually, have right of way when crossing a road in the UK, so there is no particular reason to stop or even slow down unless you think the pedestrian hasn't seen your car approaching. Obviously if you think they may not have seen you it would be prudent to at least cover the brake pedal, maybe slow down, maybe sound your horn, maybe even stop. If they are looking directly at you, on the other hand, it would be quite reasonable to assume that they were waiting for you to pass before crossing.
As drivers, we rely, every time we get behind the wheel, on other road users not making foolish mistakes just as they rely on us to do the same. Not always enough, I know, but if we didn't do so then road traffic would grind to a halt.

That perhaps explains the appalling service we see now in all areas of service industries with 40% of school leavers going onto uni. All we need is good old George Dixon who's style made the British Bobby the envy of the world. Atrocities committed by officers in Rochdale, Rotherham and other officers like these are our shame!

They deal with them every week and know if they try any of these tactics their solicitor will get them off the charges.
