Poem, Abendempfindung, by Joachim Heinrich Campe EVENING REVERIE It is evening, the sun has vanished, and moonbeams descend in silver light; so life’s most beautiful hours escape, streaming by as in a dance! Soon life’s colorful pageant ends, and the curtain falls. Our little play is over! A friend’s tears already flow on our grave. Soon, perhaps, like a gentle zephyr, a silent premonition - I shall end this life’s pilgrimage and fly to the land of rest. Then if you weep at my grave and look with grief upon my ashes, then, dear friends, will I appear and wave to you from heaven. So shed a tear for me and pluck a violet for my grave; and with your soulful gaze look upon me tenderly. Cry me that tear, but Oh! don’t be ashamed to cry it, for in my crown it will be the fairest pearl of all.

Poem, Abendempfindung, by Joachim Heinrich Campe
EVENING REVERIE
It is evening, the sun has vanished,
and moonbeams descend in silver light;
so life’s most beautiful hours escape,
streaming by as in a dance!
Soon life’s colorful pageant ends,
and the curtain falls.
Our little play is over! A friend’s tears
already flow on our grave.
Soon, perhaps, like a gentle zephyr,
a silent premonition -
I shall end this life’s pilgrimage
and fly to the land of rest.
Then if you weep at my grave
and look with grief upon my ashes,
then, dear friends, will I appear
and wave to you from heaven.
So shed a tear for me
and pluck a violet for my grave;
and with your soulful gaze
look upon me tenderly.
Cry me that tear, but Oh!
don’t be ashamed to cry it,
for in my crown it will be
the fairest pearl of all.
Apparently not confirmed that he was definitely the poet, just thought to be likely?
아 뭐라는지 알고싶다
Not a mezzo
