This was written for the fandom, Army. There are many elements put into this song that people very easily missed.
This song is meant to be an uplifting song following BTS's the Truth Untold. The creation of the Smeraldo Garden Marching Band holds a lot of depth and meaning if you explore the story behind the fictional smeraldo flower and the upbeat drums and trumpets being used in a positive light compared with the epic but also eerie orchestra in set me free pt2 where everything was dark, all the dancers represents his dark thoughts, hands held up in the air for the past me has then turned into blossoming joy and love by the end of SGMB song, (both songs having marching band sound but used very differently in contrast in both these pre releases) not to mention the inspiration taken from the Beetles Sgt Peppers lonely hearts club song. You can see the musical influence and also quoted in the lyrics "i want to hold your hand". Like..there is so much detail in this one song where you could easily gloss over if you dont dive deeper. The way he connects BTS's song(the truth untold), with his own song (set me free pt2), inspired by the Beetles (sgt peppers lonely hearts club) and using 70s aesthetics to tell the story is brilliant and thought provoking.
Plus, to humbly feature his producers as a band, doing L O V E sign language in the dance, having children in the song..anyone who throws insult to this song for bringing warmth, comfort and love truly are lacking love in this world.

They are different albums as you have now seen.
Face is different. From the beginning to the end it tells the story of his emotional development during the pandemic.
And I would not say "Smeraldo Garden Marching Band" is "typical" K-pop.
For one this is sung live. This is a Tack Video not a MV.

What you said about Jimin staying in his lane and not going outside the box is totally wrong. It seems like you thought you had listened to some of his music but you actually havent listened to any of it.
I think it’s JK who stays in his pop genre lane and doesn’t really go outside the box. Which is totally fine. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Jimin’s album was a huge mix of so many different genres of music and each song was completely different from the previous one. You weren’t sure exactly what you were gonna get from each song. I expect the same thing with his new album.
You should listen to his other singles that came out with BTS albums. Along with his face album.

Jimin really stretched himself quite a bit on Face. You should listen to Set Me Free Pt. 2 or Like Crazy. Very different from this.
