The exploitation mindset is everywhere in every industry in India (perhaps in every developing country and in many developed country too). A typical HR when hires in an IT company has a range of salary that he can use to close a position. But still HR starts from lowest number. Most often the candidate specifically women do not bargain too much. And HR knowingly does not go near to higher range. They keep the salary in the lower side only.

I think it was his prudent common sense to not do it. As it was not his own experience. By outing the director, he would have revealed the screenwriter also, who must not have given the permission. He might have done the job for lesser payment for his own reasons, despite being exploited. Wisdom is in fighting the sin without having to hold the sinner to the noose. Fatt ne ki baat thi hi nehi.. bade loge he na.. ye sab chote logo ka chochla he.
It was his prudent common sense and right judgement to not do it without the consent of the writer, who might have done the project for his own reasons despite the exploitation. he mentioned that the writer is new to the industry so he might get boycotted. He is fighting for the larger cause, that's the point.
