    Kubrick was massively into researching the occult and secret societies.. Eyes wide shut was a message from Kubrick about how corrupt our so called elites are .. I really hope Roger Avery recuts the movie according to the original script!!

    • @MJosephCannon
      @MJosephCannon 2 months ago +21

      "Kubrick was massively into researching the occult and secret societies..." Really? Can you cite a source? No you can't, Monica. In fact, he had no belief in the occult. How do I know? Because I CAN cite a source. I used to be on friendly terms with Kubrick's office manager, Anthony Frewin. (If you don't believe me, write to Robin Ramsey of the UK's "Lobster" magazine. He knows the story.)

    • @Invictvs510
      @Invictvs510 2 months ago +68

      @MJosephCannon why so defensive Joseph? 😂 we are not interested in the testimony of an “office manager” who probably got a “visit” from certain individuals warning of the “dire consequences” of him speaking up 😂

    • @MJosephCannon
      @MJosephCannon 2 months ago +13

      @Invictvs510 Defensive? I'm finally starting to play offense, jackass. You're imagining ALL of that. You have NO evidence. You're simply constructing your own reality. Read any biography of Kubruck: He was a rational man and a creature of the Enlightenment. You are not. You are part of the new breed. Whatever you WANT to be real, IS real. And if you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that Frewin was as close to Kubrick as any person could be without actually being related to him or his wife. Why don't you contact those who knew him? You won't do any ACTUAL research because you don't want to hear any facts that might upend your paranoid fantasies.

      @MJosephCannon oh poor Joseph… you cannot see the predatory system dangling daily right before your very own eyes 😂 so blind, so inept. But one day you will see it. I hope you are ready when you do 😅

    • @MJosephCannon
      @MJosephCannon 2 months ago

      @Invictvs510 I'm older than you, kid. And I've been following conspiracy theories and such since before you were born. That's how Tony and I met. Did you know that he was one the UK's most knowledgeable writers on the JFK assassination? And we BOTH had contempt for John Birchian Illuminati-spotting Alex Jonesian Q-crazy jackasses. Reflexive paranoids never contribute anything worthwhile; they simply bring discredit on any attempt to do genuine research. Yeah, I've dealt with MANY creeps like you. Nobody has ever cited you and nobody ever will, because you will never write anything worthwhile. You've never dealt with original documentation. You've never conducted interviews. You've never engaged in any sort of field investigation. You've never taken a class in logic. You know nothing about literature, history, art or science. You never criticize yourself or ask yourself "What if I"m wrong?" In fact, you've never had ONE SINGLE ORIGINAL IDEA in your whole miserable life. All you bring to the table is a portfolio of "conspiracy cliches" and a pervading aura of unearned arrogance. I've met many, many guys like you -- and I wish they all had one face so I could spit in it.

      Hello. I commented the same under an above comment but just in case you didn't see it. So, first of all, Eyes Wide Shut is an adaptation of a novel, Traumnovelle by Arthur Schnitzler. The book was first made into a film in 1969 and starred Karl Bohem who you might know from Peeping Tom. The original Traumnovelle film is actually super similar to Eyes Wide Shut, even down to certain shots. The difference being, Traumnovelle stays true to source and sets in in Venetian times. Kubrick wasn't trying to expose anything, he basically did a modern version of something that had already been done but put his own brilliant artistic spin on it. Roger Avary is full of bs, there's no cuts, the film wasn't "finished" without Kubrick and he wasn't murdered. He was a workaholic who worked himself to death. The only truth to Avary's claims are that there was actually meant to be narration, but in all honesty it didn't add much to the film (you can find the scripts for these). While the mysteries and theories presented around the film are fascinating, there's nothing to them, believe me. Watch the ending that Avary talks about, the girl doesn't walk off with two men. There is no cinematic language to allude to this and Kubrick was a master of cinematic language. Anyway, keep enjoying cinema but don't believe the rumours about this one. It's all a dream.

    • @jgo25
      @jgo25 2 months ago +51

      @retrojunkie6185 I don't buy this for one minute. I don't think Kubrick would do a straight retelling of an old story without overlaying some of his own life experiences or knowledge about modern times on top of that. There are plenty of hints that Helena was going off with those men in the final scene alone. Most obviously the name of the toy called "K'nex" being featured all over the background of the scene (Kin ex, ex Kin, meaning former Kin, their daughter is now their former kin) Also the black carriage is a direct reference to Rosemary's Baby which was explicitly about agreeing to give your child away to the cult in exchange for success in the entertainment industry.

      Sounds like the fantasies of bored people. The idea that all the world's most powerful people that secretly run the world are all completely evil is something out of a silly story and has nothing to back it up. Could there be a cult of very wealthy sick people? Possibly, but the idea that these lunatics are the most powerful people in the world is completely illogical and silly.

      @bocelott "Basically a documentary". Really?? This follows virtually plot point by plot point the book "Dream Novel" written a hundred years ago. This book was read by Kubrick in the 60s and he eventually collaborated with writer Frederic Raphael in 1994 to write a screenplay, not before the same storyline had already had a German language screen outing in 1969. To call it anything other than a work of fiction is fanciful to say the least. Like any work of fiction you can find plenty of parallels in real life. Still doesn't make it a documentary.

      It might have been an astral vampire. I had a similar encounter and realized I had eaten garlic and so decided not to eat garlic ever again before going to a cinema, or contacting garlic physically to respect their space. Many of them are cinema lovers who died years or decades ago and fear excites them so perhaps you excited your visitor because you radiated so much fear. Personal encounters with astral vampires have been positive, and have not resulted in conflict. I still visit the cinema where I live and am no longer bothered as a result of not eating or contacting garlic before going.

    Something you didn’t bring up: Eyes Wide Shut was a fairly faithful adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler’s novel Dream Story. In fact a lot of Kubrick’s films that get cited for having secret messages and whatnot are based on preexisting works. It’s true that artists filter their influences through their own circumstances and viewpoints, and it’s possible to use the artists life as support for themes that may appear in their works. But trying to do the opposite is how we end up with conspiracy theories. Council of Geeks did an entire video on that recently.

    Kubrick was just telling us what alleged roles Tom and Nicole play in the secret societies for real. As a Scientologist Tom is an observant MONITOR, he sees and hears everything (auditing) like in this film and accepts it, though hesitant. Nicole is a GATEKEEPER like Ms. Maxwell of the Epstein crew. All the women had red hair to fall in line with her on purpose. Her little girl in the film was next to be inside the cult. Nicole’s father was accused of being part of a pedophilloic child murder ring before he suspiciously died. Art imitates life I’ve been told. But this is confession in my humble observation.

    In terms of importance this movie is probably one of the most important movies ever made simply because it taps into the most taboo subject of all the occult and satanic worshiping plus those involved in it ... and yet to be told by no other than probably the best director that has ever lived Stanley Cubrik just takes it to whole new levels.. The man was surely NOT taken out by the "elites". Why would they? The whole movie is very closely based on a 1920s book updated to 90s New York. The book includes the orgy scene in detail. Why would you worry that some people assert that scenes from a 1920s book could possibly implicate you?

    Kubrick didn´t shoot it in New York because he had OCD. The story goes, his OCD had progressed to such extent that once Eyes Wide Shut was complete, it was full of so many details he decided to work on. He had spent years living under threat, etc. The stress built up in his system. Its probable that some people had tried to warn him against putting himself under so much stress. So he decided to shoot it elsewhere than in New York, in part yes out of respect for people he did not want to harass or upset. In the end, Eyes Wide Shut had finished filming and his body began to relax from the stress. Some say that despite the stress it seems that is why he had the heart attack. My dad has had two heart attacks and that is why I agree with the heart attack narrative. Note I am not a doctor (Update. According to tonybennet, Kubrick moved to the UK to film Lolita in 1961 and settled there as his subsequent films were made in Great Britain, including The Shining, whose opening shot would thus be filmed by a secondary unit rather than Kubric himself. Tony states that as he filmed the Viet Nam sequences in Full Metal Jacket at a location in London, which was facing demolition, there would thus be problem to build a New York set for EWS at Shepperton Studios, as filming in New York was not being considered and he abstained from flight. I apologize for my error as prior to posting, I my research seems to have been insufficient at the time. Thanks for the correction).

    • @joanthornes9819
      @joanthornes9819 2 months ago +8

      People don’t die from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by itself. For example, people with the disorder may commit suicide, but the cause of death would be suicide, not OCD. If he died from a heart attack it cannot be specifically linked to OCD. There are many factors associated with heart attack.

    • @Yatukih_001
      @Yatukih_001 2 months ago +3

      @joanthornes9819 Exactly. It is impossible to ´die´ from OCD. The sufferer has any opportunity to seek help and try to recover. In the end once enough stress builds up which can be traced to it the body begins to collapse. So yes you are right. If somebody with OCD does commit suicide, then that is the cause of the person´s death, not OCD. Need to research more because of how fascinating Kubrick´s story is.

    • @tonybennett4159
      @tonybennett4159 Month ago +1

      Not true. Kubrick moved to the UK to film Lolita in 1961 and he settled there. All his subsequent films were made in the UK even The Shining, whose opening shot was filmed by a second unit, not by Kubrick. Every film after Lolita was made in the UK or Europe. As Kubrick even filmed the Viet Nam sequences in Full Metal Jacket in an area of London about to be demolished, it was no problem to build a New York set for EWS at Shepperton Studios. Filming in NY was never on the cards. Apparently he didn't like flying anyway. I think If you'd done some basic research on Kubrick you wouldn't have made this error.

    I can't believe what wasn't mentioned here: The character that played the organ player and jazz player went missing at the end of the movie. We don't know if we was murdered by these powerful people or he just went back to Seattle. And the mirror of that in real life is that we don't know if the same powerful people killed Kubrick or that he just had a heart attack. Both Kubrick and his character exposed the powerful people at the party, so we're left wondering.... Also, another mirror is the fact that the Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are married in real life and in the movie...

    the head of WB at the time had no idea and that kubrick basically played him... man , people are gullible these days, just look up 'kubrick doc' on youtube, WB made a 2 hour doc about kubrick's life

    This flick was also biographical. His first pic that gave him a paying job was of a newspaper stand and the owner. This movie comes full circle for Kubrik bc Bill buys a newspaper from a newspaper stand. There's also the theme of Two women. That's a recurring theme for Kubrik. The two women walking by right before he's about the see his cozy quarters. The scene in Lolita at the Drive in Theater. Two women sandwiching Cruise at the vanilla party in __EWS at the very beginning.

    I recently re-watched Eyes Wide Shut and I think basically the film is about the sexual problems of different strata of society. Bill is middle class (for Manhattan) and his problems revolve around temptation and infidelity. The lower classes (the prostitutes, the costume store owner pimping out his daughter) need to put themselves or others in danger through selling sexual favors. The upper classes need to have pseudo-religious orgies to get off and are so protective they will threaten anyone who finds out about them. Bill learns he's not cut out to mix sexually with the lower or the top levels, and that it's better to be "Fidelio."
