Nice review! One thing I'll point out is at 9:41 you mentioned low pH makes the ammonia more toxic, and it's in fact the exact opposite. Once the pH drops below 6.8 the ammonia (NH3) turns into ammonium (NH4+). Ammonium is far less toxic and it's one of the reasons why certain species of fish struggle in higher pH, they can't tolerate ammonia nearly as well.
Sir, I am your subscriber from India 🇮🇳 and want to know if I can use Chira stone is also known as laterite stone in English. Laterite is a type of soil and rock that is rich in iron and aluminum. It is commonly found in tropical areas that are hot and wet. . Will it effect my Fish or plants ?
thanks for following me from India. I don't know how it behaves over time, but look what I found: Laterite in Aquarium Use Laterite stone, also known as laterite clay, is an ancient clay substance often added to aquariums to enhance plant growth and overall ecosystem health. Here’s a summary of its benefits and usage: Benefits: Nutrient availability: Laterite’s negatively charged properties attract and retain plant nutrients, making them readily available to aquatic plants. Iron source: Laterite is a natural source of iron, essential for plant growth and health. ECB (Cation Exchange Capacity): Laterite’s high ECB allows it to exchange ions with the water, providing a steady supply of nutrients to plants. Improved plant growth: By providing essential nutrients and iron, laterite promotes healthy plant growth and development. Usage: Powdered form: Use 15 grams (maximum 30 grams) of laterite powder per U.S. gallon (3.8 L) of aquarium capacity. Sprinkle the powder over the bottom surface of the dry aquarium before adding gravel. Layering: For best results, add a layer of laterite powder, followed by FlorinBase Laterin Substrat VF granules, and finally FlorinBase Laterin Substrat F. This allows plant roots to access the laterite while preventing clouding. Rinsing: Do not rinse laterite powder before use, as this can reduce its effectiveness. However, rinse FlorinBase Laterin Substrat VF and Substrat F granules well before using. Compatibility: Laterite can be used in all planted and freshwater shrimp biotope aquaria. Tips and Considerations: Particle size: Using smaller particles can increase the surface area available to plant roots, improving nutrient uptake. Compaction: Laterite powder can compact over time, potentially affecting its effectiveness. Regular water changes and gentle stirring can help maintain its structure. Combination with other substrates: Laterite can be used in combination with other substrates, such as gravel or sand, to create a diverse and nutrient-rich environment. By incorporating laterite stone into your aquarium, you can create a thriving environment for your aquatic plants and promote overall ecosystem health.
Thank you for this video, I have been out of the Hobby for a long time. I decided to jump back in and as i'm searching all of this new tech, I believe this product is a definite must. I bought mine direct from Kactoily last week. I'm anxiously waiting for it to come. I realized that Kactoily is in China, that's where mine shipped from. I know you're in the UK. I'm in the U.S. and I know this question could have a difference concidering how far apart we are. How long did it take for you to receive your 7 in 1? Again thank you for this video...
