Desire I want to turn into you by Caroline Polachek is one of the the most dynamic pop albums ive ever heard and is easily in my top 10 of the year so far
@@tttttn140 I've heard Dogsbody and really enjoy it, around an 8/10. All Of This Will End was also pretty good and I thought was a 7 or 7.5. Still need to get around to The Beggar so I'll definitely make a reaction to that!
@@sebastianmothelet8130 I've heard the Caroline album and it is definitely one of my favorite's so far this year. Will definitely be talking about it in my year end video.
Im a bit late, but when you were listening to "fish in the pool" you were asking for some songs with a similar vibe. I recommend the album Windswept Adan by Ichiko Aoba. thats what the song kind of reminded me of
NOt sure if your'e taking recommendations for albums that came out years before, but Foward/slash by Leanna Firestone, is a must-listen its a multi-genre spanning(although mostly country (by country i mean guitar lol)) and the lyrcis she uses on the abum are so direct and powerful and you always know the point she's trying to get across. Its kind of a breakup album, and intrestingley every single song on the album is actually 2 in 1 (so like in Diet Coke-inside Diet coke is the main song and Inside is the outro song) She's so underrated and im so sad no one has delved into her album because it was one of my top 5 albums of 2022
I'll check it out soon, I'm still taking any request but I'm just prioritizing albums from this year. So feel free to request whatever and I'll try to get to as much as I can.
Re: 18:35 - I'm not a music historian or expert, so I don't have much info to give, but this is a waltz! You'll probably be able to find similar melodies if you seek out more waltzes by Japanese composers. I've been learning piano for the past year and it's really made me want to study Japanese music theory and composition. I have no idea where this style comes from, maybe just a long lineage of Japanese composers, but Japanese music can often have these unexpected transitionary chords that bring out this sentimental, melancholic, or somber depth to even happy-sounding songs. If somebody knows more about this, or what books to read or something, I would be super interested!
thank so much for this! i’ve played piano for like 10 years so i’m familiar with waltz but it makes sense it would be japanese composers specifically. i don’t have the biggest knowledge about waltz but i’m definitely going to check out more.
What other 2023 albums should I check out that I might have missed?
Dogsbody by model/actriz
All of this will end by Indigo de Souza
The beggar by swans
@@tttttn140 YES definitely all of this will end!

since u loved inferno I think you’d rly like their first album Serotonin II! it’s more synthpop and dreamy
Yeah, I've heard good things about it. Will try to get around to reacting to it in the next couple months.

if u like jazzy piano type songs u should listen to ランプ幻想 by lamp
Yeule has actually been releasing music on SoundCloud since 2012, and they’re also a fan of ecco2k
Oh, that's cool
You should listen to more shoegaze in general if you like this
Yeule goes by she/her and they/them so you don't need to apologize
okay thank you for clarifying!
commentating while the song is playing, well I'm almost sure I'm not the first person to tell you its pretty irritating
you are actually the first person to tell me
