Man....you're SO lucky that stayed in the bag. You might want to take up shuffleboard now because you used up all your luck on that one. HAHA Nice job making it through.
You handled that very nicely, it very easily could have been turned out tragic Any malfunction that you take care positively, is a good day! Thanks for sharing the video.
You should ALWAYS be thinking about stuff like that. Every time you go up in the air plane you should run a malfunction senerio and emergency procedure through your head. He did a great job of keeping track of altitude and saving his life instead of screwing around trying to figure out what to do. There wasn't much time for any more mistakes. Don't appologise to mom... Thank her for raising you with a good head on your shoulders.
i think its quite smart you just returned quick to a belly to earth position and pulled the reserve, you spent less than a second trying to unhook it from your foot.
that was jump no. 107. By putting a hand on my head and the other back to grab the pilot chute I had a slightly head down position at deployment which ended up with the bridal wrapped around my ankle. The drag from the pilot chute kept me upside down/on my back
question if you didn't get caught by your ankle, you think the bag would have opened up correctly? maybe it was better off it didn't deploy wrapped around your ankle, either way awesome work on walking away fly safe!!!!
I deployed the reserve and was undey canopy at about 1200 ft in a good position to start downwind. I made two attempts to clear it (although everything was moving so fast I couldn't really see what was caught on what, the video is only 10% speed which makes it much easier to see what had happened) and then if you watch the video you will see the view change to almost straight down. That's when I leaned back (beacuase of the drag I was in a head down position) and pulled both handles.
Do you think it might have had something to do with how the PC was tossed? Like did you give it a hard lateral toss or just kinda dump it? I've read quite a few articles on the importance of having a strong lateral toss on the PC rather than just dumping as these types of things can happen.
Always better to give it a hard toss. I got distracted by the helmet coming loose just before I tossed it so ya there's a good chance it was a bad throw on my part
It's called a horseshoe bc it is connected at 2 places, the risers were the chute should be attached and his leg were it definetly should not, making a U shape (horseshoe shape) Extreme danger bc 1 it is a high speed mal so little time for error and 2 bc if you cut away it is still attached. Popular thinking is to just pull the reserve. It wastes less time (high speed mal) and the mess is going to go up higher increasing chance of reserve main entanglement. The jumper did cut away bc I can see his empty cable housings at one point. This mal should never happen! Pull stable and most importantly toss your pilot out harder to the side!!
+Precisionxaos yup empty cable housing and I had to buy new handles:P The problem was that the helmet strap had come loose so I tried to put a hand on it while I deployed which is why you see my left hand moving in front of the camera (still a mistake). I think of this every time I pop now and really focus on stability and also I keep my rig super tight cuz as you can see I was head down (due to the PC drag) when I deployed the reserve so now I have a couple healthy fears haha
No risk no fun... I'm still under age and cant go sky diving, and even tho i know the risks of it.. When I turn 18... First think to do will to throw my self out of a plane(after AFF ofc :P)

Damn dude, glad your alright. Makes me wonder what your friends were thinking when they saw you not deploy on time
Watching the ground getting closer and closer must have been nervewracking! Glad you kept a cool head and did what you had to do👍🏻

Nice clip bro... glad you came out OK - and you didn't have to chase your main...
Blue Skies and Be Safe !

Thanks for posting this man. 28 days later is sick. Plus I thought about my EPs in much greater detail. BS.
Easy repack.... on the main.
i think its quite smart you just returned quick to a belly to earth position and pulled the reserve, you spent less than a second trying to unhook it from your foot.
At least you didn't have to go far to retrieve your main! Glad it turned out well!
I approve of your 28 Days Later soundtrack.

you are lucky that fabrics of the main stays inside :)
nice save!
Glad you are okay! Least you didn't have to find your main!

I love the comment at the end "Sorry Mom"
very nice horseshoe .....real nightmare.
but well done man.
be safe!
Did you deploy the reserve or did an AAD do it?

how many jumps? how does holding your head put you on your back?
Who is the female diver? I think I know her!
he dude, why did you turn around? a look over your shoulder might have been the better idea...glad that you're ok
blue skies
that must have been the most terrifying thing ever
How does horseshoe happens? Is it due to bad bag job?
Lucky the main didn't come out of the bag and tangle with the reserve.
Thank heavens your alright! Whew, close one!
i hate to be "that guy" but what is the song?
wow! imagine if the main came out of the bag when you cutaway? ouch, probably would have ripped your hip out.
Anyone know the name of the song??
Wow nice job man!
the pilot chute remained inflated and wrapped around my foot until landing... pretty hard to run it out on 1 foot;)
at least you didn't have to go search for the main.
This is because your body position wasnt good when you deployed the canopy right ?
i can see it happened at SD2 desert campus :)
scary shit mate, glad you're all right and hope you don't get that pull-time-phobia :)))
how did billy save u?

You're from UK right? Then you can go to AFF when you turn 16.

A powerful, pucker factor, moment!

Greenzone. Perfect.
WOAH! THAT WAS CLOSE....I WAS SCARED TO DEATH!
Of course it's a horseshoe. The main just never deployed.
holy ground rush batman.....i no robin i just had to move my large balls out the way to find my reserve handle
At least ... you havn't lost you main!
Great job.
And whats more! you seem to have gone low on the 2 way you where trying to film. Bummer!
That's one of the things I try not to think about;-)
Yet another reason why one should not start to fly a camera too soon...
ty
Well, that made for an exciting jump, I guess
In this case it was due to bad body position during deployment
good job not wasting more time
he packed the reserve:)
sorry mom... lol

Lucky lucky.....
Unnecessary music..
you need music on a skydiving video, so you don't have the awful scream and hiss of the wind.
I prefer the raw noises. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh shit!
scary
BRASIL...
ESCAPOU POR POUCO
shit....
did you pull your reserve or was this an AAD fire?
