@@lonniebeal6032 My wife's Optimal has 145000 miles on it. I believe people have unrealistic expectations out of their cars nowadays. My family's had lots of cars over most brands and getting them to a hundred thousand miles without having to get a new starter, an alternator, a transmission, or a headliner, window motor, water pump etc. Was considered a good car. So far it's been absolutely trouble free for the thirteen years we've owned it. At this rate considering everything stays working I believe I'd have to consider spending the money for a new engine to get another 140000 or more out of it. Alot cheaper than new.
All of the above cars are true junk and only imbeciles buy them. Tesla buyers are real idiots, brainless and complete imbeciles. Wait till the day comes for these idiots to trade-in or sell their junky Teslas and find out that their horrible Teslas are now worth about $20K less that they thought because of the cost of the battery replacement. All idiots who buy electric cars will be facing this horrendous huge loss due to battery replacement costs which is criminally and insanely super expensive.
Excellent to the point video. As an auto industry veteran it seems the “Junk to Quality” ratio is definitely tilting to the former and away from the latter. Keep making these great vids!
I've had two Kia Sorento's over the last 10 year's, a 2012 and a 2015, and I found both vehicles to be very reliable and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Other than regular maintenance items, oil changes, filters, a one time new battery, the only problem I had that required professional repair was a leaking oil pressure sensor. Come to find out the oil pressure sensor was a recall item that Kia repaired for free. Otherwise, both vehicles ran great and never broke down.
Yep my 2020 Kia Soul GT-line had a faulty Transmission and KIA fixed it and the souls had engine problems as well as transmission problems and that is why I traded it in but none of the other 5 KIAs I’ve owned had problems I have a 2022 Kia Niro and absolutely love it haven’t had any issues or problems with it and it’s a hybrid so it’s saved me on gas. I was gassing my 2020 Soul every two weeks and it was costing me over $50 to fuel it and it had a 4 cylinder and that’s pathetic! My 2022 Kia Niro Hybrid gets up to 40+ mpg with a 4 cylinder but with the hybrid electric motor it gets like 40 to 50+mpg it has everything I need it’s reliable economical and safe. It is the best KIA I have owned
My wife has a 2011 kia Sorento 300000 km on it going perfect I Changed shocks in the front other than that just brakes and oil and I have 2015 kia rio and it's been perfect so far
Chrysler-Fiat/Stellantis products. No thanks. Including that wonderful "Miser-rotti"; an over-priced Dodge, with parts right out of the Chrysler parts bin. Until it's maintenance/repair time then the Dodge labor and parts costs are out the window and few more sheckles extracted from the wallet is painful. Kia/Hyundia? Proof that a turd can be polished, at least for a short while.
Exactly right on all counts. Kia looks great but that quality. Yeah, just not there. Chryslers are also a dumpster fire on most ocassions, in my opinion.
@@ECPP The cult of Tesla, it's an honor to be a member of the environmentally conscious cult and still drive a "luxury" vehicle. When 12 years from purchase, a new battery is required and the recyling process alone has more of a negative impact than an old diesel truck.

I watched a guy on RUclips fix a Kia Sportage that had a loose connector, under the front hood, under the fuse box. How he found it was fascinating. The car had been to numerous Kia dealerships, and nobody had found the real issue. One loose connector plug, under the fuse box, into one of the several fuse box blocks, in the fuse box. What an amazing catch by that mechanic.

I use to have a Chrysler 200, wasn’t a bad car. Only thing that went out was the thermostat which was common on them. Otherwise it gave me good faithful service the time I had it, trades it for a tundra. Don’t regret it. As for Tesla, they are cool, and accelerating in them is fun but interior felt cheap for the money. The auto braking was atrocious at low speeds and I don’t enjoy you have to access everything from the screen. I could buy all the 99 Camrys ever and each of them will outlast the Tesla and go further miles wise in one trip.
For the prices of Tesla, the interiors are way lacking. IMHO acceleration is over rated. Sure it's fun, but it's uncomfortable and dangerous to accelerate that fast most of the time.
I've owned my 2012 Hyundai Elantra for 11 years and have had great service with it. I'm sitting on 264,000 miles on the clock and still have the original AC system and no major repairs and still don't lose any of my fluid levels between oil changes. This has been the most reliable vehicle that I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of different makes including Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's and a few domestic cars and trucks. Just do your research before you buy.
Informative Video thanks, however, I have a 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range and its the best car we have ever owned. We have a range of 330 miles. It did cost us $600 to install a Tesla charger at home, but got a $300 rebate from out Utility company. It cost us .11 cents per KWH (48 Miles per KWH) while charging at home off peek. We drove it from Indianapolis, IN to Mesa AZ without "Range Anxiety". You just put in your destination and it guides you to the appropriate Supper Charger, tells you % of battery when you get there and how long to charge it, not sure where you got the 8 hours charging time from, but the average time was 10 minutes to 20 minutes for us. At our rental house we use the 110V standard plug to charge and yes it will take up to 12 hours, but for running around town we do not needperfect
I so want to like Kia's Mark, some really beautiful styling. My golfing buddy barely dodged a bullet when his Sorento's rod bearings failed. It was just before the warranty expired so he was covered, but learned his lesson.
I'm surprised the Renegade didn't make the list. I had one when they were brand new, right before the coof, and that thing was in the shop every month. The only bright side was that I got to drive a different new Chrysler product every single month when loaners were still a thing. I still remember my boss and teamnate busting a gut when I was driving them to lunch, and the loaner Ram 1500 blew up too... Oh Mopar.
Mine was great got 200,000 miles on it before the engine blew, but I know even some bad cars have a few that last a long time. Sorry for your experience
I saw a wrangler engine "blowup" uncontrollable smoke eminating from the car on the NJ turnpike extension going toward Bayonne several weeks ago. looked like the thing was on fire. he pulled over and stopped. Chrysler I will run from.

Boss: Sure: We don't care about America as long as they send their money to us in Korea. They love a bargain. Employee and Boss: Ha Ha Ha!
I’m glad you pointed out the charging situation with the “LEAST STALE TALES” ahem, I mean TESLA. People think buying one is cheaper than a gas car. I’m an electrician here in south Florida and to upgrade a home service is between 3 and 5 thousand bucks. Keep giving good advice. Love your channel.
Florida electricians are ripping people off. The charge connection is nothing more than a dryer outlet. NEMA 14-50 outlet at Home Depot is adopt $15 bucks. Sure you my need to add some wiring. But 3 to 5K is a ripoff.

To avoid brake warping it helps to "break-in" the rotors when they're newly installed. That means braking really hard from about 60 mph then waiting about 10 minutes or so for them to cool then repeating the process again a couple of times. Do not fully stop the car with the brake pad pressing on the rotor. This is what causes warping (pressing on the very hot rotor (metal softens as it heats up)). This break-in process helps to avoid uneven rotor wear later on. But nonetheless nothing can help if the rotors haven't been properly designed/engineered in the case of this Jeep as you say.
I was a Chrysler corporate flat rate line tech for two decades at a very large dealership. Started working on mopar because they were always broke but easy to work on. Quality really went to shit with the huge overprice Pacifica and the rear drive 300. Warranty and recalls were killing my paychecks so i got out into manufacturing. Mopar and the rest of domestic trash are meant to be junk about the time it's payed off.
I don't have any pedestrian sensors or lane departure warnings or automatic braking because I learned how to DRIVE the old school way, it's called stay off the phone and pay attention to what you are doing when driving
Unfortunately there are suddenly arising situations when don't see almost anything at all! What do you do? Then you must consider the following statistics... In Sweden, with 10,5 million people, die every year slightly over 200 people. As for instance USA which is 33 times bigger there should die about 7600 people, but in 2021 about 42,000 died! Should not the Americans learn to drive sometimes? In Sweden the numbers was also at that (the American) level in the 1960th!!! All kind of systems seem to be needed!
I agree, the only thing I like is automatic emergency braking (not that I've ever had to use it, but if it could save me from a potential insurance nightmare from a rear-ending it's nice to have) the rest of it is handholding for dumb idiots that can't put the phone down

My Mother once had a 2010 Jeep Patriot with a 2.4 and CVT. It had stalling issues too. I don't know if they ever worked out the problems with those but the CVT even had some sort of failure while with less than 40,000 miles. It was repaired under warranty. We don't have it any more. We traded it for something else. We would come to a stop at a light and then it would just stop running. Or one time on the road I could feel it wanting to stall. Other than that I never was in any other vehicle that had a stalling issue. The worst thing is that although it could be restarted it was sometimes hard to do when it happened. It starts up fine when parked on parking lot or driveway but when it stalls it is difficult to restart. I am glad she was rid of that thing. I was fearing for her that it could be a potentially deadly problem depending on where it happens.

Yes the Tesla needs to be on this list. Spot on about not having high enough AMPERAGE in your current circuit box. Standard is 100 Amps, and if you charge one of these Teslas on a 220V service you start losing the AMPERAGE for other large appliances in your home, washing machine, etc. Upgrading to a 200 Amp service can cost a few thousand $ USD... if you live in a apartment you don't have the ability to upgrade anything so running an extension cord out your window on 120v will take you 48 hrs to fully charge up !! Ludicrous. My regret is not on your top 5. as ive said on your channel before, My only car i didn't properly research was a 2013 BMW X5 which i bought used in 2018 w approx. 94k miles and sunk nearly $2k in repairs over 8 LONG MONTHS ! traded it in for a 2013 Lexus ES350.
In Sweden and Finland, I don't know Norway, but I think it's the same. People use 11kW chargers (3 pfase 400 V), 55kWh in five hours. Some others use 3.7 kW chargers (2 phase 240 V and 16 A fuse, which many newer houses get along with even though the heating also is electrically. In Sweden Tesla's are popular among the taxi drivers/companies, who drives 500,000 in maybe 4-6 years. Two very important things with Teslas are, a very functional media system and pre heated batteries. To be able to use the capacity of fast chargers in cold weather the battery need to be pre heated an this starts a number of minutes before you arrive to a predicted charging station. At least here in the Nordic countries electricity is, or has been and will be in the future, quite cheap, and gasoline and diesel will not be cheap in the future, and isn't cheap now. I agree on a lot of his reactions to the cars. Yet not everyone has the kinda money he has to buy things like a Ferrari or Lamborghini etc. sometimes you have to go with what you can afford. A lot also depends on how you maintain it.
A good maintenance routine will go a long way to avoiding many of these headaches. Ford's 5.4L 3 valve V8 are notorious for seizing up due to lack of oil change maintenance. But with a bit of love and diligence, they can be decent (not great) performers.

That’s exactly how *Hyundai Motors* is able to reel in sales from gullible Americans looking for German/American designs but with “Japanese reliability”. All of the car companies are recalling a lot nowadays. It's a combination of cutting corners, buying parts from the cheapest bidder and a lot to do with software updates on the many complex gadgets they put in cars now. You used to make your car speed up by pushing the gas pedal, which had a cable on it to open the throttle and make it go. Now, your gas pedal is a potentiometer (like a volume control on a radio) that tells the computer you want to go faster, then it sends a signal to the electronic throttle body and tells it to adjust. Some cars even have brake by wire so your brake pedal tells the computer to tell the brake system to engage instead of a hydraulic piston pushing the pads to stop you. Some advantages of these, but far more complex and far more likely to fail when it gets older. Cars have up to 50+ microprocessors, hundreds of sensors and miles and miles of wiring, lots of stuff to fail!
Don't know where you get your Kia and Hyundai in the US. Where I live, we get them straight from the Sohari plant, South Korea. In the local market that's been long dominated by Toyota, Kia is gaining grounds every year.

EV's are really great. Even you don't need all that range, you'll well adviced to buy an EV with a huge range; just in case. And for THAT case EV's are simply too expensive. I personally dig the iMiev from Mitshubishi (Or just "i" as they call it nowadays).
I had a 2002 Kia Rio that was very Very reliable. I had almost 300,000 miles on it. It was a Manuel. I drove through ice from Portland to the Tri Cities in Washington going 30mph while reving the wheels to 60mph. I beat the shit out of it trying to make it back and forth up and down hills. In the summer I would have to take the spark plugs out finding theirs oil between the spark plug and the plug. I could never figure that out haha but It worked very well for me. I even had to drive it for almost a year with a snapped clutch cable then transfer through gears through the rpm Rev ways to parallel slip in the gears. From stop I had to shut it off then start it in gear while taking off. Was very stressful haha but eventually I found the right cable from Napa autoparts because everyone's else non oem part didn't actually fit. It was very light on Gas consumption. Very reliable like the old 1990's 22re or 22r engines in the toyotas. The AC never took a crap on me in the summer. I never had to replace the clutch. I miss that car. I gave it away to someone who needed a car super bad before I took off to Texas and started a new life down here.

The 3.2 L Pentastar is an incredible engine though. Wildly wildly capable engine. Super fast. But the lifter and cam lobes wear and I believe it would eventually become an oil burner even if you take exceptional care of it.
A firework is pretty incredible for the entire 10 seconds of its life but with a car engine we want long life and in general Chrysler made engines are garbage.
Best advice is to ignore their recommended oil change interval and change it no more than every 5000 miles. Some say that disabling the auto start/stop system each time you drive can help too as it reduces the number of startups, which is when the most wear happens. You also want to avoid very long idle time such as hitting the remote starter repeatedly to warm it up on cold days. It's better to get in and go so it warms up faster. The newer oils can last 10k miles, but the problem is that a lot of gunk and carbon is floating around in it and can eventually clog up your rings and oil passages to the bearings.

Don’t forget like sometimes the cars u are saying which model are u talking about because that sportage actually has a stinger engine in it not the regular sportage so which engine is having those issues ??
Also, the issues applied to certain production runs in certain years, not all of them. It's important to research that if you're shopping for one, but even then a lot of them got new engines under warranty so they are fine now.
I have been driving my optima for years never had any issues. I drove from Washington to Indiana. One day i drove from Rochester Indiana to drop people off at Denver airport and go back the same day never had any issues. and after my job there i went back home in Washington never had any problems. A month later i go back to work, drove from Tacoma Washington to Oxford Alabama never had any issues and back home never had any problems whatsoever. Until this day KIA baby is still running like a champ. Before all those trips, the car was at 160k miles. So i called “KIA IS A GOOD CAR”.

First there is the misstatement that it costs $300 a MONTH maintenance on a Honda Civic (at 12:16). Then there is the statement that the Maserati Ghibli has massive depreciation. No doubt true, but why not quantify that depreciation in some manner. Lastly, we are told we will regret buying a Chrysler 200 for many reasons. The last 200 rolled off the assembly line in late 2016-- over six years ago! Hey folks-- also steer clear of the 1977 Chevrolet Vega.
I had a KIA Cee'd 1.6GDI for 5 and a half years and covered over 140,000km. The only issue I had was the water pump that failed and was replaced under warranty. Brilliant car and excellent after sales care in the main dealers 20km up the road from me in Spain. Now I've got a Honda Civic e:hev and I wish I still had my Cee'd haha.
Kia is an enigma - most of their vehicles run quite well ... BUT ... too many percentage wise have major problems. The warrantee paper is just a piece of paper and is too often ignored by Kia as they find a multitude reasons why your vehicle doesn't qualify for a warrantee repair. I spend a little more and buy Mazda 3 types which have never disappointed over the last 25 years.

And another big cause is tire shops that they overtighten the wheel nuts. This puts a stree on the rotors...causing them to warp when the get hot.
I was a Chrysler corporate flat rate line tech for two decades at a very large dealership. Started working on mopar because they were always broke but easy to work on. Mopar and the rest of domestic trash are meant to be junk about the time it's payed off.

I have a 2015 Kia Sedona SX minivan. Bought with 72k miles and now have 92k. Engine and tranny are still solid. Really enjoy the interior. The only minor issues I've had is broken brake light switch pad ($3 part), software upgrade needed to fix parasitic draw from the memory seat controller, and a broken sliding door latch. Small stuff -- still rolls and has great power. Oh and the exterior plastic panels around the B and C pillars are cracking.

You got the nail on the head. Attractive styling, people mainly like the looks of new Hyundai/KIA/Genesis products which is what draws them into the showroom floors and their notorious warranty that gives their consumers a false sense of security. That’s exactly how *Hyundai Motors* is able to reel in sales from gullible Americans looking for German/American designs but with “Japanese reliability”. They believe the Koreans are giving them the best the auto industry could offer - these are the only folks who succumb to their surface beauty and make the mistake of buying one.

Last weekend I saw a white 2021 Tesla trade in at the Toyota dealership. It had 18,000 Miles and you could tell he had been taken care of..
However you could look at the headlights and the top of them had already started to fade and they looked milky and hazy at the very top as they are exposed to heavy sunlight. A very poor design.
Also all the black trim on the windowsills had water spots and it had already started to fade.. It could not be cleaned up it would have to be replaced.. Very underwhelming for a car at that price !
The battery wont last so why should the car? the Technology will out date the car faster than it can accelerate resulting in scrap in less that 10 years

The Kia C’eed is one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I think there is a great disparity the UK and Europe regarding reliable makes and those same makes in the US. For instance Suzuki pulled out of the US as they’re cars were considered unpopular and hard to fix but in the UK they have a good reputation for both practicality and reliability. It seems the only manufacturer both continents agree on for longevity is Toyota and is luxury arm Lexus.

Hi Mark. My brother was interested in the Kia Sportage recently. I will send him this video link. Thanks.
Hyundai/kia are good car, it's the people that don't maintain them, then complain when they don't last
Kia and Hyundai are ok as long as you maintain them change oil regularly using good oil, check where the vehicle is made in Australia they're made in Korea, Ive also heard in Europe they dont have any major problems either. They just dont build them that well stateside, if its made in US I'd be hesitant to buy them especially with a 2.4l THeta Engine, or DCT transmission.

Tesla recalled over 3 million vehicles in the year of 2022.
Still driving a 1973 Gremlin and it still moves really good
Your videos are going to put the lemon lawyers out of business 😅
Don't know where you get your Kia and Hyundai in the US. Where I live, we get them straight from the Sohari plant, South Korea. In the local market that's been long dominated by Toyota, Kia is gaining grounds every year.
They have great style and tech but quality is still intermittent
I sat in a Jeep Cherokee when I got a Wrangler, and it was nice - it was a 2022, leather interior, and pretty much fully loaded. Not that I’d get it because it’s not snappy enough for me or good at much but going from point a to b, just saying that it looked decent and fairly nice.

EV's are really great. Even you don't need all that range, you'll well adviced to buy an EV with a huge range; just in case. And for THAT case EV's are simply too expensive.
I personally dig the iMiev from Mitshubishi (Or just "i" as they call it nowadays).
Also there are way more people who can easily own a 220v 40amp charger than the EV industry can manufacture enough cars.
EV's are the new ethanol or biodeisel cars. No thanks.
I get that EV's aren't for everyone, but Mark please unless your driving with a diaper on you need to stop every 2-3 hours when you're travelling. To eat, get coffee, smoke, or bathroom break. This can take anywhere from 15-30 mins, which you can plug in and can get anywhere from 50% to 70% battery charge with the supercharging Tesla network. Tesla has 40,000++ superchargers worldwide and the network is growing everyday.

The 3.2 L Pentastar is an incredible engine though. Wildly wildly capable engine. Super fast. But the lifter and cam lobes wear and I believe it would eventually become an oil burner even if you take exceptional care of it.
A firework is pretty incredible for the entire 10 seconds of its life but with a car engine we want long life and in general Chrysler made engines are garbage.
super fast??? lol in which application
