I was out the other day shopping for another jbl speaker and I decided I couldn't give up just yet. I was able to fix my speaker and save myself some money. Thanks a bunch!!
My teenage son finally brought me his flip 4 that apparently stopped working a few months ago. He thought he or someone else broke it somehow, since he always brought his speaker along for away-games for his different sports. He thought he was in trouble! Your video saved the day, his hide, and the speaker! 😂 Thank you!
Fixed my speaker, thanks I thought I had a new brick. One note I would add, is that those little speaker magnets are powerful and I wasn't ready and it pulled my screwdriver right through the driver. Still sounds fine, but i would be careful on that one. Thanks Again
Wow...this was a perfect fix for my speaker. Thank you so much. I have been keeping my speaker in shelf for almost 1 year now not able to get a service centre and I got to see you video and got my speaker fixed. Thanks a ton.
This totally worked for me. It was the exact cable issue you mentioned in this video. It's almost hard to notice as it really doesn't look like anything is goin on. But the little clip was loose, so I gently pushed the cable back in with a screwdriver and voila! It worked. Also, for anyone that reads this, the mesh 'shell' isn't indestructable. I had one of the little clips break. Not a major issue, just FYI.
Hey bro, my speakers lights are illuminated fully when it's charging from being dead as opposed to the normal 12345 process. As well I hear some sounds during louder noises. Should I try and open it like you did and could it be attributed to having dropped it once. About 2 feet from bed to floor.
Thanks. Great demo video. Word of warning to anyone trying this repair: Be careful with your screwdriver around the speaker cones. I was unscrewing the first four screws with a jeweler’s screwdriver and the magnet inside one of the cones attracted the metal and pulled the tip of the screwdriver right through the cone, causing a small hole. Uggggh! Repaired it with superglue. Seems to be working with no distortion. Time will tell though.🤞I was majorly pissed.
thank you tim for leading the way! this was my first consumer electronics surgery success. i had to unplug and replug the battery to get mine working again.. this comment section is so heartwarming.
Thanks man! You inspired me, to fix my flip 4. The audio input wasn't working. after opening the speaker, i noticed that one of the plugs wasn't plugged in. Your video is great!
Lol. I bought a "broken" flip 4 that had this problem online for about 24$. The seller said that it was just about 3 months old. Fixed it and got myself a still very good conditioned flip 4 for 24$. Thank you so much for sharing this.
My speaker is only a year and a half old and randomly stopped working, nothing would light up not even when plugged in. I was about to buy a new speaker but figured I would try this fix out, IT WORKED. Super easy and very well explained THANK YOU!!!!
Just went through the steps, as described. Worked like a charm. Had to add a peice of electrical tape to completely fix the issue. Otherwise, this was the best solution I've come across for this problem.
Tried to press power and forward buttons at the same time I got mine fix like that. I had the Flip 4 for about a year and bought another brand new. 5 minutes after I took it out of the box sealed like I said it did not get any charge tried all kind of dif. Outlets and I saw this tutorial wich is amazing and when I was about to do the opening and reset the unit. Some magical hands came and press the power and the forward buttons at the same time and in 4 seconds the unit just turn on and I didn't have to do the operation. Thank you for this tutorial anyway.
I really would like to express my deep gratitude to you! I went to the JBL maintenance team. they asked me to pay around 50$. I refused and solved it with ur magical solution. really thaaaank you
Man respect i had a lot of trouble putting the plastic part back on i was trying to put it on for maybe an hour and then i discovered your video THANK YOU 😉
Thanks so much. Did not have the same problem but an issue when playing bass heavy music, the power button used to rattle. With your video, I now knew how to get underneath the button and did a quick fix. Big thumbs up!
Took mine apart, the chip by the ribbon looked loose so I went to see if it was and it fell off. Now I gotta call JBL and see if they can fix it Thanks for the video tho lol I’m sure it would of worked if I didn’t have a bigger problem ☹️
SUPER THANKFUL no technician in Jamaica was brave enough to take it on it has been gathering dust for 2 years now but with all this time on my hands I got take it on Thanks again man had trouble reconnecting the battery because I removed it based on other videos
Thanks! I had previously replaced the battery and the speaker still didn’t work… but I decided to try to fix it again and found your video. Your suggestion and tips worked! Thanks again!!!!
Thank its 3:15 in the morning and it worked. I was frustrating with my speaker, I got the on offer up and thought that I was ripped off . Now I have the speaker charging thank you.
Tim Wetzel THANK YOU! it charges but I have to like wrap the charger around speaker for the charging light to blink. I thought my charger had a shortage but I bought a brand new one and I still have to wrap it for it work. I was thinking it’s probably the charging port idk
Thanksss mannn my jbl didnt work for like 6 months i didnt now what to do except to buy i new one but today i just said ill watch a video on youtube to see if it can get fixed and the first video it was yours and it helpet me, thanks dudee
Great step by step fix, but beware of having your screwdriver or anything metal next to the side speakers magnets ... my screwdriver got sucked into the cone and ripped the cover. 😵
Big thanks, worked for me as well. Took a few attempts because the adhesive on the back of that power button seal kept lifting the ribbon cable back off!
I helped me, thanks. What I did, after reinserting, and locking connector, I put over few drops of glue and let it dry. ( if problem repeat, I will throw unit and will by another brand..) It is design flaw as lock on that connector it not strong - too many complains-, which is not acceptable in such device as vibration of sounds( this is speaker after all,)eventually hit the weakest spot... Here the WARNING: when I lifted 4 screw piece ( the one with mini USB for charging) to push cable, this piece got disconnected from 2 other cables [small white connectors]- I had to remove side cover/diaphragm and use fine tweezers to connect them back..Good luck, and next time buy another brand ..
With what did you pull the ribbon cable with I barely have enough space when I pull out the charging input it has a small gape but enough where I could push the cable
Anti static tweezers and pulled up on the head that is covering the cable lifted up just enough or you can go farther than I did and remove some more screws it will just take longer to put back together
Great performance. 1000 gracias. Perfecto. Just perfect! My speaker took a big hit falling from a 1,5 m high shelf. It went on working but controls/buttons/lights would be dead. Working as new. Thanks. Just one caution, the "putting back screws on" (minute 3:41 your video) I had to pospone 'til minute 4:20, once the side case was placed.
Hey thank you second flip I've had first one got stolen and now three months in this one won't boot up. This seems to be an ongoing problem evidently why don't they put that thing in there better?
Thank you! I know what's wrong but the little piece that holds the cable in place to the motherboard broke after a fall. It was sticking up when I opened it. Trying to see what I can use as an alternate
Thank u. I was walking and randomly my speaker turned off and i just tried to turn it on no response so i went home plugged it in and it turned back on so i was checking video for replacement batteries and stumbled across ur video so ill let u know if its not the battery its lose wiring that happened will keep u updated after i do more work on it.
