I’ve been a dj for a long time, was even djing my elementary school dances when I was in school. Sync was everything, until it wasn’t! Recently I went 10 toes down on getting back into the game. I noticed that djing with sync my transitions would be off even when I tried to fix them! Long story short, FUCK SYNC. Use it wisely for cool transitions but don’t cut corners. Ever since I started actually beat matching, I’ve enjoyed djing way more, & I’ve gotten way more creative. Not so monotone anymore! It’s because of your videos man! Took me literally 2 days to master something I didn’t trust myself to do. THANKS BRO!!
Broooooooo let's gooooooo First off CONGRATS Second, wild how simple it is hahahaha. I dunno what the fear is with people and sync either. It's literally the same thing, but it just makes you better on ALL levels. If you wanna scratch and stuff and progress, You HAVE to, I definitely use it for some cool transitions, It has a time and a place, You can make a tranaition track literally out of ANY song (Like 80bpm->128) But ya man, If you DONT know how to beatmatch, Your sabatoging your long term success and almost guaranteed your career will go nowhere. Let them know bro and congrats on making to real Also LMFAO @ 2 days to master, And there's really DJs put there who won't It's so crazy to me
@@TheDJConnect LOOL YEAH BRO, 2 days.. now I’m so comfortable. Thanks brother, you the man. I RECOMMEND ALL SYNC DJ’s TO JUST TRY IT OUT. do it with confidence, & it’s as easy as spreading butter on a bagel. If you’ve been mixing for a long time, you definitely developed an ear to it. It’s easier than it seems!
@Kevinrites ya man A big issue is like if the beat grid has any imperfections you're FUVKED. Or like if the mix starts going wrong for some reason, You can't fix it on the fly, I guess you just turn off your computer and go cry that you never get booked ever again 😓 Ah well lol More gigs for us ! Yea 100% It's just another tool in the toolbox, Def use it to get comfortable and understand But if you ever wanna progress, It's like step 3 hahaha
Excellent tutorial!!! I DJ'd with vinyl in the early 90's to the early 2000's. I'm transitioning to serato digital DJ'n. There is a lot to learn but no pain no gain. Your advice to play music for the people and not yourself is PRICELESS!!!
Let's goooooo man !!! Well, I literally just swapped out BACK to vinyl And omg it's wild how much harder it is (I have warped records) Needles skipping and sliding, But it's still the same process, It's soooooooo much easier now lol So don't think there is any learning curve It's so much easier to use and see wave forms and stuff Heck ya man !!! Hope to see you around brother go smash it !!!

I have no idea why so many tutorial makers don't use this feature and instead force the viewer to look at virtually unreadable text on a high-resolution screen.
I've been following you for several months now. I have learned a lot from you just from the RUclips video's. Majority of the music I play is Latin but like you said beat matching is key as long as you can beat match and transition you can master all genres. One day I will be able to pay for classes hopefully in the new year. Keep up the great work.
Yooooo let's gooooo brother !!!!! Ya man, once you can beatmatch once, it all works We play a lot of Latin up here, But I'm for sure open format Sometimes Latin -> reggae -> hip hop -> rock in a 30 minute set
I was listening to this video in the background and thought it was pretty sensible until it got to playing solely "what the crowd wants" when what most crowds want is limited to what they know, when what they know is filtered through the same mouth-breathing Walmart and payola-bribed chart positions and tossed at a moment's notice. I'm lucky to play for crowds that are generally open to new music and old music that's new to most people. But this hyper-optimized, algorithmically determined AI playlist zombie song selection process is just the next step after music became so devalued in the last couple of decades and the mainstream club music scene that's already fought over by others just creates a gentrified monoculture with no interest or even awareness of the music or culture they're paying more to be immersed in, in a shrinking number of venue options. I still play for the benefit of others more than my own enjoyment. I respect listeners too much to stop looking for music that's truly interesting or special or literally awe-some. If I had a cruise ship gig or something, yeah, your advice would apply, but why bother looking for music and supporting independent artists when I could just play the current chart-toppers and eventually have a music collection that's indistinguishable from the other "top DJs". I would steer clear of this type of DJ when booking guests at my own events and I'd question if they still have a soul.
I'm sorry, but could you please show us these events you play where you can play what you want ? Are you David Guetta ? Trust me I wish it were possible as well, But if you want to get payed, You play hits. Period
Throw your own parties and promote your own events and base them on a genre or theme so people show up with some idea what to expect. Also: correspond with your favourite artists, producers, etc, and let them know you play their music in your live sets. Quite often, you’ll be added to email lists to receive preview downloads up upcoming releases (just be sure to provide feedback). This can also get you on the bill with some of your favourite musical acts when they tour in your area. Engage with your local scene and people will know you specialize in specific genres and you can become a go-to guy for certain artists or local niche events. There's a lot of people who just stay home rather than have Walmart music and millennial whoop blasted at them. Restricted Entertainment in Vancouver does theme nights and fetish events with a loyal following at different venues. I ran my own niche events for about 10 years, but found interference from competition, the disappearance of local print free event listings, and bait-and-switch tactics behind sponsored posts and paid ads on social media gave diminishing returns, so people book me to play warm up or peak hour slots or festival gigs where people are hungry for curated DJ sets instead of the same cookie cutter charts where major labels predetermine chart positions before their content even releases. When the airwaves and major labels tell their market what to like, it's up to smaller labels, producers, event promoters, music critics, and even playlist curators and users of social media to find music we care about and get word of mouth working and DJs have maybe the best opportunity to support music that's worth a damn by getting it heard, posting about it online and telling friends and followers. It doesn't even have to be entirely the absolute latest releases. Music doesn't have to be disposable. You can play better sets without sticking to the flavor-of-the-week and only playing 30 seconds of it. DJs should be music enthusiasts before getting in front of people to spin tunes. If you're not playing music you love, what are you even in it for, just clout? @@TheDJConnect
Ummm.... Unless I played a wedding (which I have never done, nor will I), I ALWAYS play what I want in a club or underground scene. There's two different "scenes" here, if you will. If you're playing a normal, run of the mill, "dance club", then sure, play your top 40, way overplayed and exhausted shit. HOWEVER, There was a scene "back in the day" that you fuckin kids will never know about. Go check out some videos for "Buzz", "Buzz life" at Nation in D.C. The resident DJ for that event (Scott Henry) would EMBARRASS David fucking Guetta. So yes indeed there were, and still are, MANY venues where very talented DJs play WHATEVER they want, and the dancefloor LOVES IT. Check your facts before you come across sideways to someone that was simply making a valid point. Peace.
My Midi is greyed out on serato dj pro and I can't connect my controller, tried all the troubleshooting suggestions. Can you please help me I'm going insane 😢
