Rest In Peace Bud Anderson. January 13, 1922-May 17, 2024.
Born on my birthday too, RIP BUD ❤
@@peterbarton8959 My birthday too :)
Still alive at 99; still the greatest living fighter ace.
there are germans out there with far more than 15 kills, some like Gunther Rall had 300 confirmed kills
@@tramlink8544 Gunther Rall is dead since 2009, RIP. The key word is 'living'.

@@theallseeingmaster I know of at least one high-scoring German ace still living. Hugo Broch, with 81 kills, still alive at the age of 99.
far from the best fighter ace lul
They should do a movie about this man and his accomplishments. God bless you sir and thank you for your service.
@Daniel Madison I agree but how many are triple aces?
Still living triple ace!
A younger Matt Damon would be pretty close in looks . . . :)
Amazing man, watch the show Dogfights there is an episode with him in it.
There is a documentary narrated by Bud Anderson, "To Fly and Fight", by Sleeping Dog Productions.
Who's waiting for a vid every month?
Yea me too.
Me!
Not a lot of ww2 veterens are still alive. So it's very hard to find a veteren.

Me, because this channel is the best!
Yes! Most definitely!
The fact he came home, married and looked after his best buddies wife is just amazing. I will bet everything I have that his best friend is watching over him and his family. Beautiful story!
Define looking after?

@hachiman I mean I wasn't insuating anything either. I made a kind statement, That's all.
I have a signed photo of Bud Anderson. He added “Live your dreams!!” When I saw that in December 2020, it made me giddy and made my day.
Thank you to everyone who allows us to watch and hear these stories from these veterans! Thank you Mr. Anderson and every other veteran for your service, and to allow me to live in freedom!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Bud at Oshkosh in 2014. Got an autograph and he took me over and showed me the Old Crows (Old Crow was what he named his P-51s) and just talked about planes for a while. Truly an honor for a young aspiring pilot. If you see this Mr. Anderson and by some miracle happen to remember me, I made it, I finished the training and still have the photograph you took with me as a kid and the autograph framed.
What an Amazing story.. Congratulations on finishing training!
Congratulations!!! That’s fantastic.
Col. "Bud" Anderson: The ULTIMATE Warrior, Fighter Pilot, Patriot and Gentleman. I only wish we had more young men in our country growing up with these same attributes to keep our country strong! Thanx for your service Bud!
You have .. just need the right moment in time, and they will rise to the occasion.
We have these men today, and they come from the same places these men came from. What we need most of all, are righteous and wise leaders. That when we send our children into combat their blood and lives are not sacrificed in vain for failing policies.

How exactly is he the " Ultimate warrior"? ? He shot down 15. What do you call the guys that shot down 10 times that many? And there were many. He did his bit but he wasn't that special.
I lost my dad on July 7, 2018. He was a World War II-Korea Veteran. Before he passed away, my husband was able to take him on an honor flight. Thankfully through that journey my Dad was able to find some closure. Aside from that, he didn’t really speak much of the war. I admire and honor those that served and this truly is a generation that is like no other. Brave, proud, determined and fierce! Their stories need to continue to be told from generation to generation. Thank you for your service sir you are a true hero. God Bless.
I applaud you for keeping these stories alive.
We are proud to host Bud Anderson each year at the Warbird Roundup at the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho. His presentation is enthralling, and he is a humble, approachable man. I have a shirt signed by Bud hanging in a place of honor in my house. God bless this true hero! His roommate in the 363rd was Chuck Yeager, who called Bud the best fighter pilot he ever met. They became lifelong friends.
RIP Chuck Yeager. He was another great hero just like Mr. Anderson. When is this annual roundup? I'd be very tempted to take a road trip out there if it still happens during COVID
@@kylechrismer2107 Yes, annual event on the last weekend in August. We had to cancel last year, but the plans are to go ahead with the Roundup this year. Usually about 20 to 30 WW2 planes flying - lots of fun!
I've got family in Eagle so I think I'll make it a point to go to this event this year. Would love to see what you guys have there and listen to Mr. Anderson. It'll also make up for the fact that the Thunderbirds have postponed their show that they were going to do in Boise this August.
Much more approachable than most. Met him at the Last Roundup of Mustangs and Legends. He spent sheeze 15-20 mins talking to me. A blessed righteous man he is. There were many WW2 era flyers there, but some were shy, some were; in my mind, arrogant and quite a few were just like Bud.
All you guys I just want to say I struggled and lost so much. Hi ruined the possibility of a career. I did a Grosso.
I’m now 51 and I have a career that I’ve always loved. One of my 2 passions in life skating and this other thing. ( don’t wanna get focused on sorry ) but this other thing has been with me before skateboarding and one skateboarding came along. It was like marriage made in heaven.
I just want to thank all three of you for putting on these podcasts they’re so real and authentic and straight from the heart and it just confirms that I’m 51 rolling around in the new Skateparks, but I’m a skateboarder and I always will be skateboarder. It’s in our DNA.
I’ve been heckled people that I call my friends that really aren’t my friends. My old skater friends are my real friends for good or bad.
Watching this, reminds me that we are a family and that the rest of the world can look at us how they want but I know when I see another Skater specially somebody older than 30 !! lol jk. When I see any Skater , I know that they are family.
I truly love your message. All three of you are legends in my heart and soul. We really should stick together through the tough times and it’s so nice to see you guys together and thank you for the positive message.
BTW I’m 51 and I just dropped in on our 5 ft. Mini ! Felt great. Been skating now for 6 months and I couldn’t do it !
My fear wouldn’t let me but I worked and worked on it !
Like we do I broke through that fear and achieved my goal!
Thank you, Tony. Thank you Cristian and thank you so much Jason. Love ❤you guys.

The man is a living legend. His book is a great read (I bought it in hard cover when it first came out). I have read it several times. I could not recommend it more highly. So sorry for the loss of his beloved wife in 2015 after 70 years of marriage. Thank you sir for your service to our country.
I've read it, too! Great book. The foreward was also written by Chuck Yeager, who was another legend and his best friend, but he died a few months ago. Glad that Mr. Anderson is still doing well
What is the book called?
@@charisem3595 To Fly and Fight
I've never read the book but I read an excerpt where he was learned that he would never make general. Can you tell me why so? It's a shame they didn't give him a star. He deserved it.
@@aro4098 Test pilots don't get the right tickets punched today. They don't get staff assignments, Pentagon posts and the like. Allen Shepherd retired a Rear Admiral, but he never commanded anything at that rank. It is called a "tomb Stone promotion."
Absolutely awesome story. This story hits me a little more than others, my great uncle, whom I never met, was also a fighter pilot in the 8th Air force during WW2. Lt. John R. Bernert, pilot of a P51D Mustang assigned to the 374 fighter squadron, 361 fighter group, 8th air force. Unfortunately he was killed July 5th, 1944 when his fighter group came in contact with 10 Messerschmitt Bf109s over Normandy. A french farmer reached out to my family some years after the war and told that my great uncle and a Bf109 went up to dogfight eachother, my uncle came down and landed in his field and when the farmer got to his plane, my great uncle was dead in the cockpit. This man's story is the closest I'll ever get to hearing my great uncles stories he could have told of the war. This channel doesn't get nearly enough praise for the amazing history it preserves through these vets. God Bless and Thank you for the great content!
P.S. My uncle is buried in Epinal American Cemetary in Epinal, France and he actually has a small monument stone in the field where he crash landed.
Thanks for sharing his story.

Had the honor to meet him at Oshkosh several years ago, took several pictures with him and he signed the hat he gave me. Will always remember that day. Good bless and once again thank you for you service.
My hat is off to all these men who served. I've known several in my life. Gentlemen thank you all.
I have an autographed picture that Bud signed for my birthday last year. He is one of several men that inspired me to start flying lessons and become a pilot.
For some reason, I feel an aspect of war that many forget is how young all of them really were. First girlfriend and really close to family age. May every soul taken from war be remembered forever. Respects to everyone, from 🇨🇦.
The greatest generation that ever lived. Got us through the great depression and freed the world from tyranny. Young men all. God bless and keep them.

I have an old VHS tape of Mr. Anderson telling is story. i use to watch it all the time when I was a kid. I'm so glad he is still around.
Bud man, you looked out for someone and found your future and saved mine. Thank you.
I have listened to the Colonel several times. There may have been aces with more kills, but he was a technical combat genius. Great stories and straight up brave. I can't express my admiration for him enough. Thank you, Sir, for being such a good example of 'The Greatest Generation'. My dad was a radioman in a B-25, didn't talk that much about his experience and I wished I'd pressed him on it more when I was a kid. Too late now.
Thank you, Mr. Anderson, for protecting my grandfather as he flew 38 B-17 LWG/TG missions in Europe from 1944-45. Without him coming home, I would not be here today. God bless you sir. Thank you for your service.
What a veteran story / pilot / man / leader / ace! Remarkable accomplishments and service. Two wars.
Thank you Bud and all others who served for the allies during WW2. My granddad served in the Norwegian Army and participated in the recapture of Narvik in 1940. It’s people like this we have to thank for living in a free world today. It’s not to be taken for granted.
Thanks Bud for your legendary service. I wish I could shake your hand.

This is by far the best and most underrated channel on RUclips. Every time you guys put together a new video I lose tears. As a former veteran and WWII history buff, this channel shows exactly what it means to be a patriot and part of the greatest generation to have ever lived. It breaks my heart that we are losing so many of these amazing men as the generations of today just don't have the same mindsets of the past. I appreciate what you guys do and truly enjoy every time I get a notification that a new video has dropped. Keep this up please for all of us as these stories cannot be forgotten! God Bless!

Man, this hero is still sharp for being in his 90’s! God bless these men and their families. I’m proud to say my grandfather was a U.S. Army Combat Engineer in the 76th Infantry Division.
Great interview with a great and humble man. Really brings home the humanity of these pilots and the hardships they faced. Thank you for keeping their stories alive.
Thank you sir for your service & valor. We live in a free world because you & other men like you paid the price. Thank You Col Anderson. An American Legend.
I am a avid WW II Historian, & I collect many WW II artifacts, & I collect large, 1:18 Scale WW II Planes, & the 2nd. one I got, was BUD ANDERSON's "OLD CROW", & at the time I knew his name, & a little about his P-51 Mustang, & its an exact copy, right down to the paint job, & I've learned more & more about him, & every other WW II Vet I can learn about, & his story, & Spirit are truly incredible, & I thank them all silently, all the time for all they have done, on the ground, On the Sea, Under the Sea, & In the Air.! Our Country's getting torn apart from the inside out, & these stories have a huge impact upon me, & when I see American's fighting other American's, It truly makes me sick inside.! We've came so far, & done so much as a GREAT COUNTRY, & to see political situations tearing this great nation apart, I can only guess just how bad it truly makes them feel.! "It's a cryin' Ass Shame".! We can do far better, & we cannot let this happen. So many lives were given in so many wars for this great country, & it's up to every single one of us to do better, & no matter your beef, put it past you, & think about great guys that lived, fought, & so many died, that we owe it to each USA Vet, to do every single thing we can to stop the American's fighting other American's, & put your differences aside, & realize we are all nothing in comparison to what's been laid down before you.! Get over it, & then help other American's fighting other American's, to do the same, before we loose this GREAT NATiON.! It's truly up to each & every one of us to do so until we're one GREAT NATiON AGAIN.! We owe it to every Vet, "Not The Money Grubbing Politician's" No matter what war war they fought in, &, alive, or dead, they fought for your, & The World's Freedom.! So that you, & I may live in absolute FREEDOM.!
I know it takes courage each time we climb into the cockpit but it takes even more when you know you're going into combat. Thanks Bud.
Always remember the brave men and women who fought in WWII. Those left alive are the few remaining treasures of a great generation.

IT WAS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU at one brief moment Col. Anderson, back in the early 2000's. It was at Seattle's Museum of Flight -during a group talk and book signing. Nearly 20 years later, I still have your numbered art print I hang on my wall, titled, "Can't talk, gotta' shoot," that you personally signed, along with all of the signatures of the surviving members of the squadron and support crew. It was a pleasure to meet all of you. A very memorable moment for me. someone who has so much respect for what you men did back then in your youth with your squadron of Mustangs and your flying and fighting skills to further the cause of freedom for countless of souls for all the years since that time to today and beyond. Along with this nation and the world I am grateful for your service and of your fellow crew - past and present, as well as those who fought and were lost. God bless all of you.

It'd be cool to get an interview with a Navajo Code Talker, a member of the Resistance in one of the German-occupied coutries, a female Russian sniper at Stalingrad (or ANY Russian soldier), someone who fought in the North African campaign, an Australian or Indian WW2 vet, a member of the Tirailleur, a civilian on the American Home Front, and so many others.
I know interviews aren't always easy to get for a variety of reasons, but it would be really cool! Any bit of history that can be recorded for future generations is great to get.

Hello from Bailey, NC. First of all let me say thank you for making these videos. My Daddy was in WW2, he was a combat medic in General Patton's 664th armored tank division, and I've got a couple of old 8mm videos of my Dad when he was telling one of my friends one of his war stories, I've got one where he actually got to see one of his war buddies again, and that was in either the mid to late 70's or early 80's, but the look on my Daddy's face when he got to see "Butch" again was absolutely priceless!! Daddy being a combat medic, AND being in old "blood and guts" General George Patton's 664th my Daddy sure had many of his TRUE war stories, in fact, he had WAY TO MANY war stories for just one man! He saw the horrors of the concentration camps, where and how the many Jewish and American people were slaughtered and then their bodies just pushed into a giant hole which they forced the prisoners to dig their own graves! Yes, my Daddy saw all of that aftermath of death. He said he could still smell the dead bodies 50 years later. I'm not just saying this because he's my Daddy, but I TRULY believe that EVERY veteran is a REAL, TRUE AMERICAN BADASS, and ESPECIALLY the ones from the "class of 45" who didn't have all this new technology like the military does now!! THINK about that one.
Thank you for your service Bud Anderson!
