I wanted to play solos like James Murphy 33 years to be exact. And he is still one of my favourites. His solos had always changed the dynamic of the song he shredded on. I was heartbroken when i heard he was also diagnosed with brain tumor along with Chuck Schuldiner , fortunately he survived.
absofckintudely as I only found out about him cause pretty much all my favorite death metal albums had him as guest lead guitar. found out after the fact as those were my favorite albums of each band but really were the James Murphy albums.Obituary, Death, Cancer, Gorguts , broken hope, goes on and on.
The entering solo in Infected is just awesome! I always get creeps when I hear it! Anyhow, Cause of Death is like very first solo album of James. His playing is the thing that made this album so special, I think many will agree with me.
Cause of Death blew me away. It was actually this album that made me hunt other things James had done, which is how I came across Death's Spiritual Healing and the pandora's box that opened, including Cynic and Gordian Knot. I miss those times when every new artist or album was ready to lead you to yet another artist or album. James' playing is so unique, about 20 notes in, I know it's him. I still love his tone and the way he picks, the notes almost bubble up off the fretboard.
It was Trail Of Tears that got me hooked with Testament and took me out of the Metallica-Megadeth-Pantera omly phase! Thanks James Murphy. One of the best solos in my opinion!
Fun fact: the mid section of the Trail Of Tears solo (8:06 to 8:21) is played by Testament rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson. I think that throughout the entire LOW album, James and Eric complement each other's work just excellently. They created a masterpiece of 90's thrash.
So glad you put Trail of Tears at No. 1. Only recently discovered this song and it's the most emotional James has ever done. I owe you man. Almost 5 years back, you introduced me to Obituary and I've never looked back. Thank you so much!
"Touching the Earth" is a great track on an album made even better by Devin Townsend's vocals. I went straight from this album to Strapping Young Lad and never looked back.
James Murphy has such a unique style, I used to always be able to pick him out when he made his cameo appearances on those albums. I believe Malevolent Creation had him on a song. He was in a band called Incantation. The production was atrocious but, James Murphy was their guitarist, so...
There is much difficulty involved with deciding which James Murphy solo was better than the other...uh, it's a James Murphy solo... James, you have inspired so many things and people to become.
I just rewatched the Roadrunner United 25th anniversary album, and realized how strong of a guitarist he was. Now I'm here listening to more of his guitar work. It's amazing. Cheers from France! 🍻
I am glad you have put Trail of Tears, such a beautiful journey to listen to his magic. The song is already excellent but the solos are out of this world
I wish James and Bryan would just do a one off for some compilation or something. James said he has some material from way back when still lying around
And don't forget Chris Kontos was there as well, fresh from peeling the flesh from my face on the Machine Head debut. If the opening track on "Burn My Eyes" was the only thing Chris ever recorded it would be enough to qualify for epic status.
James your my favorite gutair player and threw time to your skills never failed me as a fan you have overcome major changes in your life and you really are amazing with the aggressive solo's and the Mello solo's you just flow and make those notes become the music I just wanted to say your the man
No question about #1. My eyes tear up every time I hear James' "Trail of Tears" solo, and I listen to it regularly, since the album first came out. Still my favorite Testament album of all time.
Has anybody ever tried to REMASTER "Cause Of Death?" The album sounds like shit and is poorly mixed except for James. It would be awesome to hear a better mixed version to MY ears. J/s...

the song that introduced me to James was killing spree on spiritual healing. killer solo
James is so unique ! Unmistakable just like Andy LaRoque
Genetic Reconstruction is one of my favourite solos of all time!
Think I just replied to you under an Andy Larocque solos video
James Murphy is the best Metal guitarist that has ever existed!!
I've always been his fan and that will never change.🤘💀🖤🎶🎸🔥🤘
The entering solo in Infected is just awesome! I always get creeps when I hear it! Anyhow, Cause of Death is like very first solo album of James. His playing is the thing that made this album so special, I think many will agree with me.

Trail of tears is my favourite solo of all time! James had tonnes of an amazing solos but that is just on another level. True masterpiece!
James Murphy = Guitar God!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
It was Trail Of Tears that got me hooked with Testament and took me out of the Metallica-Megadeth-Pantera omly phase! Thanks James Murphy. One of the best solos in my opinion!
Hope full you went back and listened to their stuff with Skolnick too.
Well, you definitely got #1 correct! That beautiful solo work on Trail Of Tears is just incredible, and moving. Well done!!

Konkhra just blown my brain off, James did excellent job like in every other band, wish he would do another Disincarnate
So glad you put Trail of Tears at No. 1. Only recently discovered this song and it's the most emotional James has ever done. I owe you man. Almost 5 years back, you introduced me to Obituary and I've never looked back. Thank you so much!
in my opinion it's missing "Touching the Earth", "Eyes of Wrath" and "Wandering Soul". James is incredible! a true inspiration.
"Touching the Earth" is a great track on an album made even better by Devin Townsend's vocals. I went straight from this album to Strapping Young Lad and never looked back.
Bloody true my friend!
@@Yocambiotouching the earth is Chuck Billy. Devin is on Since Forgotten and The Last One
Personally i would place the solo from Heavensent Konkhra as the absolute number 1 solo!! That shit is awesome
Weed Out the Weak is such a sick album, all the solos are insane.
I enjoyed your list. Trail of Tears is an awesome way to end the video. I also like Touching the Earth off of Convergence.

"A band called Incantation"? They're one of the most well-known old school death metal bands out there... and James Murphy never played with them.
Thanks for part two. James Murphy is my favourite.
There is much difficulty involved with deciding which James Murphy solo was better than the other...uh, it's a James Murphy solo...
James, you have inspired so many things and people to become.

Opening solo to Obituary -Cause of death album. 💰
Yes!
will we ever hear a new disincarnate album????
all hope lost for that...
I wish James and Bryan would just do a one off for some compilation or something. James said he has some material from way back when still lying around
James Murphy..!!!🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Need a part III !!!
I love Konkhra with James Murphy
And don't forget Chris Kontos was there as well, fresh from peeling the flesh from my face on the Machine Head debut. If the opening track on "Burn My Eyes" was the only thing Chris ever recorded it would be enough to qualify for epic status.

James Murphy!!!! Thank you Master!!!
Within the mind.. amazing solo
No question about #1. My eyes tear up every time I hear James' "Trail of Tears" solo, and I listen to it regularly, since the album first came out. Still my favorite Testament album of all time.
Geez, still missing that one-of-a-kind solo from Broken Hope's Engorged with Impiety...
dude i think killing spree is way better than Tempus Omnia Revelat
So happy to see, "Survival Reaction" got in the list among others that I love from James. Do a third one!
Obituary Infected. Best fucking intro to a death metal album IMO
That solo James did on that Solstice album! The one at number 7!
AWESOME !
Eyes of Wrath, Testament. Great guitar solo's James Murphy.
Testament's Hail Mary should've been on this list.
THIS.
my favourite is Legions in Hiding, but really his work on the whole Low album is fantastic.
One of the best guitarists around the world is living legend !
Only respect
Thank you James!!
dimitrisdismaedOfficial24
🤘🤘🤘
Amazing
Weed Out The Weak. Underrated masterpiece
Mind musician guitar Master!!!
That second solo in Trail of Tears is by Eric ' The RiffMaster' Peterson!
The solo makes mé I heve shivers....
Sin duda un genio infravalorado
And I think his solo on "Trail Of Tears" is transcendent. Until recently I had mistakenly attributed it to Alex. My bad James. 🤦🏻♂️
legend!!!
Можно слушать вечно...
Between Killing Spree solos & Low Life solos are my favorite!!
Yup the kid is pretty badass! \../
3:35 total vintage Death vibes Leprosy era 💪
Find the Arise is another unforgettable one
The obituary solo is his best pc its not long its not his most crazy but it has so much to it but hes def a fav guitarist
Know this cat thru Juan at trident studios
i found Solstice, but the name album is Pray for the Sentencing
James Murphy has killer vibrato
I still think the last solo on Race the devil song off his 2nd solo album is one of his top ones.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👽👽👽👽👽👽👽
