    Your video would be better if you would have shown how you actually running the wires, removing panels, etc.

      @@jmrocks49 hey mate thanks for the feedback. Every car is different though. But mainly take off the door handles so the roof lining can come down a bit and then remove door seals and tuck the wires in neatly. We are doing another video and will be better 🙌🏼

    Just installed this 2 camera setup a couple of weeks ago. Few suggestions:
    Plan the install before starting. Get a service manual for your car or buy a short-term subscription to a service like alldata-diy. You’ll need to know how the body panels come apart and the correct removal/installation procedure. (And to plan for broken clips). This is necessary to avoid running cables in front of airbags.
    Figure out if the rear cable is long enough for the best routing that avoids airbags. VIOFO offers 8m and 10m lengths in addition to the 6m provided.
    Orientation matters with the fuse taps. The side opposite the wire should be plugged into the hot side of the fuse box. Otherwise, you’ve wired the 2 loads in series instead of parallel, creating a possible overload. Get this right even if you’re using an open fuse slot to avoid creating a possibly ungrounded circuit.
    Hardwiring often creates problems with interference and radio reception, particularly with the rear camera. Avoid running the cable near the amplifier for the antenna and placing the rear camera near the antenna if possible. Ferrite cores installed on both ends of the cable and near the hardwired voltage regulator may help, as well as experimenting with the grounding location.
    Run cables behind airbags in the A pillar and avoid them altogether near the B and C pillars. Also, disconnect the battery and wait at least 5 minutes before doing anything near the airbags to avoid accidentally setting them off.
    It’s not a small project. No shame in hiring a pro to take apart your car and wire things correctly. Then again, I think most “pros” are trained on bad RUclips videos. Good luck.

    hello i wanted to use your video as a guide to install my own viofo dashcam for my car but i'm a little lost because i'm a beginner at DIY installation. i bought the exact multimeter you used in this video at 9:08 but i don't know where to connect the clamp at the end to test my fuses. can you please help me? this lost american would greatly appreciate it

      Good on you for having a go! Clamps to a negative so attach it to the body or a bolt and the fuse is positive should light up if it has power😃

    I didn’t see what you did with the black earth wire. Where did you connect that?

    At 9:51 you show a fuse in the bottom fuse socket of the fuse tap and none in the top fuse socket of the fuse tap. Then at 10:04 you show two fuses in each fuse tap. If you're plugging a fuse tap into a fuse box fuse socket that did not previously have a fuse, the bottom fuse socket of the fuse tap should be empty. Only if the fuse box fuse socket had a fuse in it before installing the fuse tap should the bottom fuse socket of the fuse tap have the fuse that came out of the fuse box fuse socket. Having a fuse in the bottom socket of the fuse tap when the fuse tap is installed in a fuse box fuse socket that did not previously have a fuse can potentially provide power to things not intended to have power in your vehicle. I would remove the bottom fuse from the fuse tap and make sure power is still provided to your dash camera hardwire kit. If the fuse tap does not provide power, rotate the fuse tap 180 degrees so the left leg (leg on the opposite side of the wire) of the fuse tap is inserted into the side of the fuse box fuse socket that provides power.

      Thanks mate will do so. At first camera didn't come on but I reckon it's because I had only a bottom fuse in it and when I put the top one in, it came on so I just left it as a spare the bottom 😄 but cheers I'll take bottom out and chuck it in the glove box as a spare 💯

      I agree with your first point absolutely.. But in regard to your last paragraph the fuse tap will never not provide power.. it’s not a case of rotating it 180 degrees if you’re not getting power.. it’s a case of rotating it 180 degrees if you’re circumventing the fuse (because power is being provided to the close side of the fuse tap and then running down the wire rather than going across the fuse and down the wire. But old mate in the video showed he was aware of this while he was tapping in to the fuse box in the video.

      @@petetherealrelentless6542 I have a video showing the power routing for this type of fuse tap and I show there's never a chance of providing power down the wire without passing through the top fuse of the fuse tap. The only question is how the power is provided to the left side of the fuse on the top of the fuse tap. Directly up the left leg of the fuse tap or up the right leg (which only connects to the bottom fuse in the fuse tap), through the bottom fuse and then up the left leg of the fuse tap.

    So you can just lever off the side pillar air bag or does it have to be deactivated somehow?

      Ive pull it off a few times now without battery disconnect however maybe disconnect the battery anyway if you install any electrical stuff 🙂💯

      I would dc the car battery (and wait a while because airbags use capacitors to store power) and route the cable along the side pillar and then BEHIND the airbag.. you shouldn’t need to touch the airbag at all.

    Do you get any glare off the third brake light at night with the rear camera mounted there?

      I will need to have a look mate but it has the infra-red sensor so will have black and white image at night so I would say it wouldn't 💯

    I fitted this a few months ago and since installation my dab radio stopped working. If I disconnect the rear camera dab comes back on. So if you don’t want dab radio install it…

      Does your vehicle have the radio antenna along the rear window defogging lines? That might be the cause of it. I have a vehicle that uses the rear defogging lines as the radio antenna as well (as opposed to it being on top of the car) and had that issue with Viofo's older 2-channel camera (one of the A129 models). The AM radio reception for a certain frequency range had issues as all you heard was basically static. The newer one, A229 Plus (same one as in the video), has seemingly got rid of this problem (tried it on my own vehicle and it no longer has interference/static anymore). Issue is with the for the A129 the cable for the rear camera is not shielded well for electromagnetic interference but for the A229 Plus it seems shielded well enough that I don't hear the static anymore.
      I've contacted Viofo before about the A129's rear camera having issues with my radio and they suggested putting ferrite chokes (also known as ferrite beads/cores) on the cable for the rear camera but it does not fix the issue for radio antennas that are along the rear window.

    Whats the point in a dash cam mate? I know they are used a bunch in europe for insurance purposes but why do you need one in aus?

      When someone runs up your arse and just drives off. Or you are part of an accident that you can report to authorities. Dash cams will never not be a good thing to have. If your car is parked and thieves try to steal it, it will record too so you have evidence. Plenty good things about it 💯

      Dashcams are awesome.. over 27 years driving and long before dashcams I got 2 red light runners causing write offs and almost lying their way out of it both times.. with a dual channel dashcam it’s pointless lying and makes insurance much easier. Great piece of mind and not letting filthy liars wiggle their way out of responsibility.
