It's funny as a kid most of us hated when commercials came on, but now as an adult we look for those old commercials to have those nostalgic memories.
They had style, unlike modernists today. As a man in his early 20s I can't recall any notable memories involving commercials. They are the thing you ignore that have little thought and effort put into them, except on the Superbowl where you watch for the commercials. Though the ones featuring music by Sammy Davis Jr. and Opera music are nice, the first being for a shaving commercial, though the latter is for a European or non-American brand (because our car designers can't create anything good anymore, and their advertisements (except for a TRUCK advertisement with WEST VIRGINIA)). The sleekest looking cars are the Hyundaes and Mitsubishis, the Chevy Camaro is the affordable exception and superior to both of the prior brands models. Ask about Cadillac in a racing game and you'll get a weird look from most children. America is in decline because our Car industry pros have as much brain power as a flea, our commercials pull off psychotically senseless commercials for legitimate products, or are medicinal infomercials that are selling pills that I don't need, or cheapo-gimmicks which 2-3rds of the time turn out to work not as advertised.
If I could mass murder all modernist artists and psychologists and architects like the ones that built the cold unfeeling purpose-built Boston City Hall and made current 2008-2019 commercials... without repurcussions... I might've just chose to do so - and viewed it as a favor to humanity, rather than dispassionate immoral action. I hate millenials.
I watch Japanese Anime, read Japanese porn, if they aren't science books or collegiate textbooks or unique RUclips videos. I go on 4Chan's politically incorrect board, while going to college for a STEM degree. I avoid the hyper-sensitive pseudo-religious SJW hawks that have substituted meaningful insightful fulfilling purposeful religious charity and organization for self-gratification perverted extremes of moral crusades on Facebook, or giving a d*** about what any of them think.
The reason I watch Japanese anime, is because if American shows aren't full of explosions, they're full of unrealistic impractical bs or real-life disturbing incidents about some disturbed people, or about some callous people's "Beverly Hills" lives that make you want to see them jump off a cliff of how entilted and utterly spoiled they are and how utterly poor excuses of influences they were on their children who curse like sailors instead of speak like human women. Rarely do American shows use gorgeous symphony pieces in any shows that draw attention to themselves as well as enrich the emotional moments they heighten after 8-9 episodes of build-up, and in Japanese anime it's an 80% chance if it's a serious Anime.
Sometimes Japanese Anime even provoke philosophical inquiries like those of Full-Metal Alchemist, albeit not the historically accurate use or goal of the philosopher's stone in the West. "As in the manga, the series follows the adventures of brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for the Philosopher's Stone so they can regain the bodies they lost in a failed attempt to bring their dead mother back to life."
So True!! It's Nothing Like Saturdays Mornings!! When You Can Watch Them Fight Over Who Cereal Are The ( Best ) Out Of The 3 Monster Cereal. Count Chocular!! Franken Berry!! And Boo Berry!! As Well. Besides The Saturday Cartoons. That Came On Tv Tv. What Memories And Fun.
@Tinsel Jollybum Only 21 years old and i still HATE Commercials. It's so irritating. Especially when the show is about to break and i'm just about to sit down eat and watch TV. The **only** commercials i accept are Christmas commercials.

As a kid I'd always dreamed of that magical combination of chocolate cereal and marshmallows, rather than the plain cereal that usually came with marshmallows like in Lucky Charms. When I finally found Count Chocula I flipped my lid, it was the best day ever.
Lucky Charms was never "plain"...they were always a sweetened cereal with the marshmallows.
@@kriegerg69 Sweetened oats were never sweet enough for me; if it wasn't chocolate, marshmallows or berries I considered it plain cereal.
Remember when they called marshmallows sweeties
Mix them all. Don’t forget BOO BERRY
Monsters: My cereal is better than yours!
Everybody else: We like all of them.
I like boo berry.
Me too
GUERRA DE CEREAL!
I want to try Count Chocula😊
@@quentinharp You'll get your chance when Autumn comes around.
I really dug Count Chocula&Frankenberry as a kid in the early seventies! It's nice to see that they still sell them!
I wish General Mills would include a DVD of these cartoons as a special thing inside the monster cereals at Halloween time.
Or as a permanent non-discontinued DVD, Blu-Ray, etc.
Awesome news people! It turns out that General Mills is bringing back Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy for this upcoming 2014 Fall season, along with the classic three monster cereals. They will be available at Targets all around the U.S. and can even be purchased in their retro boxes. Can't wait to try Brute and Mummy!
Oops! I didn't realize they had already done this last year. Whatever, it's still gonna be new for me this coming Halloween.
That's nice to know, I saved a box from last year of Frute Brute I have yet to dig into.
I do too!,Target Stores have them all.On recent shopping trip, they were there.
Two of the same cereal nah man
These commercials should not be so much fun to watch but they are.
I simply adore the campy tongue in cheek factor of these commercials.
I believe that when I was really little I had a nightmare about Count Chocula chasing me. I was never afraid of him but somehow my mind managed to make a nightmare about him.
Count Chocula is so sexy and handsome. I just want to hug and/or cuddle with him.
@@wolfgang1097 wtf
Okay, but to be fair, I’d be terrified if he started running towards me.
@@wolfgang1097 Excuse me what
It was the same for me but it was frankenberry
as a kid back in the 1970s I tried all the monster cereals.Never liked chocolate flavored cereals so count chocula was out and franken berry was so so..I LOVED BOO BERRY and FRUIT BRUTE(as well as the characters). At 46 would like to try a bowlful of each after decades away from them(they took them away when I was going through puberty)..Didn't know there was such a thing as Yummy Mummy(never saw the ads plus I was TOO old.)The mummy voice sounds like he lives on Marlboros and Johnny Walker Red(was that Wolfman Jack the DJ?).They need to have a cereal for Godzilla,King Kong,Zombie(or Walker for TWD fanatics)and Creature of the Black Lagoon. How about it General Mills?
Or one based on Old Gregg from the Mighty Boosh.
Or one based on Jurassic park
I'm glad these still exists
Count Chocula is a take off on Bela Lugosi's Count Dracula; Frankenberry is a take off on Boris Karloff's Frankenstein and Boo Berry is a take off on Peter Lorre.
How about the fruit wolf?
@Jose Crane Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy weren’t really based off of anything, they were just a werewolf and a mummy
@@josecrane4132 Lon Chaney Jr.'s Joseph Talbot from the Wolfman?
@@67nairb His name was Lawrence (Larry) Talbot, not Joseph.
We've all known that for 50 years now. :D
In the late 70's there was a special edition box of Count Chocula which actually had a picture of Lugosi as Dracula on the front.
The fact that this video is already 10 years old proves that time flies by way too fast
23:28 some things are better left animated
I'm guessing the Boo Berry got laid off back in the 80s due to the recession at that time and hasn't appeared in commercials since. I hope he at least gets royalties from the few boxes of his cereal that he sells during Halloween. Fruit Bruit was fired, Yummy Mummy just didn't have the charisma that the others did. Frankenberry is reluctant to appear in public. Kind of like a cereal version of Dorris Day, without the love for animals. Count Chocula's career was boosted by Anne Rice for a bit.
baritonebynight hes still here he just dosent get shown as much he also appears in the background of the monster mash commercials
Boo got busted for rape. Plus his cereal was the worst of the bunch.
Boo Berry is my favorite.
Animation, Mascots, Star Wars, Scooby Doo, Star Trek, Cereal...This is everything I love mixed together
the sounds for the monsters change in the 80 and 90
dont you mean voices
Danny
...because the voice actors changed over the years.
Excellent compilation of those delicious cereals, thanks!!!
🦇
i love how boo berry is a boss
Damn right.
It always amazed me how on the commercials it said, "part of this complete breakfast" and then showed the cereal (with milk), toast, a glass of orange juice, and a glass of milk. What kid can eat all that?!
I do.
Me
Me I am a fatty
Complete breakfast is breakfast with all basic food for breakfast and cereal is a part of the complete breakfast so they say that
It's a super sugar hit. You eat the super sweet cereal along with OJ which is basically sugar fructose water, and milk with lactose and then bread which the body converts into glucose.
I remember seeing those commercials as a kid and I just now randomly remember these cereal commercials and here I am
damn! ive never seen these commercials and always thought they were friends! who knew frankenberry and the count were enemies and both bullied boo berry!
I always Invision it as a love hate friendship
@@vanessahanson9491 I love to hate you and hate to love ya. Hate love. 🥰😍😡😤.
This is why I hate Frank and Choc. And the two fruities.
3:48 I've found my thrill on BOO BERRY HILL! Boo Berry was a perfect complement to Frankie and Choc!

I love all five I'm glad they came back for a limited time
Count Chocula and Frankenberry have always been on the market all these years...they brought back Boo Berry because it was off the market for awhile and people wanted it back. Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy were never brought back and have been off the market for decades.
Nooo!
Now I've had "Count Chocula", " Franken Berry", & "Boo Berry" cereals, but I wanted to know how "Fruit Brute" and "Yummy Mummy" cereals were.
Same here. It sucks that they only came back once.
Really? When did that happen?
2013.
+Alberto Otrebla IIRC, Fruit Brute tasted like crunch berry or fruit loops (Basically bergomot and cherry) while Yummy Mummy was orange and cream (Tasted very chalky orange)
+Chip Noir I only had one bowl of Yummy Mummy, and I entirely agree with that "chalky orange" description.
I love all of the monster cereals even fruit brute.
The marshmallows from 26:30 to 26:32 are already characters who are parodied into monster cereals! Frankenstein - Frankenberry, Casper - ghost -booberry, Werewolf - Frute Brute, and the mummy - Fruity yummy mummy!
Hilarious. These are well made, entertaining (and therefore insidious) kids commercials. The voices, sound effects, music and vivid characterization and prizes, not to mention the great tasting though sugar-laden, nutritionless cereal.
I like how Frankenberry sounds like Boris Karloff and BooBerry sounds like Peter Lorre.
"Super sweet cereal...with strawberry or chocolate sweeties..." And then they dare say it's "vitamin charged" and part of a complete breakfast...LOL.
Pretty sure Reese's puff cereal tried to do the same thing
@@Darth234Ravenous Because it's General Mills. They can pull the same stunt on any of their cereals. Lol.
As part of the Quisp/Quake family, an orange-flavored cereal was introduced for a short time called "Orange Quangaroos." It, too, had a chalky orange taste (like Yummy Mummy and St. Joseph's Children's Aspirin) and I absolutely loved it.
They should make a cereal called “Vamp-Nilla” with monstrous vanilla flavor
Good Idea!!!
Agreed
Yeah
Yeah that should be count chocula sister or something
Or Vanilleton.
good old memories!!
Too bad there was never a commercial where Pac-Man eats Boo Berry. Missed opportunity, General Mills.
Frute Brute's Fruit howl has lived in my head rent free for years. FRUUUUUIT
I STILL have a box of Franken Berry every Halloween. I am 51, and can't stand even lightly sweetened cereals, by and large.
+John Reilly mee too
I want to try them so bad ;-;
@@BeruBeruIce yo they sell them at walmart near halloween time
I'd buy em anytime if i could
I just got a box of Boo Berry and the new Monster Mash special edition, and they've definitely changed the recipes over the years and reduced the sugar content...but they were never overly sweet to begin with.
Now I'm wondering why Fruit Brute had such a short life span.
Me too
I always thought it was because of yummy mummy
Because it fucking sucked
Poor BooBerry he hardly shows up at all! And when he does, all Count Chocula and FrankenBerry do is push him away! I feel sorry for him.....T^T
OH MY GOD!!! I miss that old TV cereal AD since I was 5 years old til 15 years old from 1985 to 1995 and yeah I remember I bought that old cereal for my breakfast before going to school every morning.
These commercials were just as good as the cartoons
Artisan Rebel i dont know about a monster cereal cartoon cuz of the voices and how old this cereal is
Quennie Robles If you reply to my comment now I have count chocula as we speak
Khmer song
@@quennierobles1743 This year (2021) is the 50th anniversary of the monster cereals. Boxes in the stores are marked to commemorate the anniversary, and there's also a new 50th anniversary Monster Mash edition combining pieces from all five of the cereals (although Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy have been off the market for decades).
I use to love these as a little kid.
Bring back the REAL Fruit Brute, and Yummy Mummy cereals one day, please!
One day? Why not an entire month?🤨 To make them last longer, I mean.
@@Fazkrueger
I mean one day in general, not literally for only a day though! 😉 XD
The monster cereals were my favorite.
I'm glad I got to try both brands a few times each back in the mid 80's.
i know those commercials back in 1988, i love those cereals, with ever if it's frankenberry and countchocula.
The strawberry and chocolate "sweeties" to which Frank and Count refer are now known in the cereal industry as "marbits" (marshmallow bits). Lucky Charms also uses marbits as do (to a far lesser extent) Frosted Flakes with Marshmallows, Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles (in the blue box) and Froot Loops with Marshmallows. Now back to your regularly-scheduled program.
6:26 So much for the “hidden” message.
They just gave it away to us.
Thanks Lieutenant General Mill.
Who drinks a glass of milk and orange juice with a bowl of cereal that already has milk in it?
Oh and don't forget 2 slices of buttered toast.
Bruno56 Do you take the coffee in the cereal or on the side?
***** Actually it was my idea he drinks it on the side he says. Patent!
+Arkady Rex I drink milk with my cereal, because often there is not enough milk in the cereal for my tastes.
+Arkady Rex I do.
Got all 5 in vintage boxes. I'm on the Frankenberry right now it's amazing. For 4 more left.
Never heard of Franken Berry until now.
Hope Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy make a return next year as well!
Team mummy
How did Boo Berry break through a solid wall even though he's a ghost he would have just went right through it.
and his cereal too
creeper 2016 loquendo it slipped through the small gap between the doors
I Personally Disfavor The Whole Enchilada even shows at 6:48
Comedic effect.
Theres an answer for that.
It's a cartoon
Boo Berry's early voice sounded so much like Ren! You eeeeeeediot! I love BOOOOO-BERRY!
Actually, I think Boo-Berry's voice
was modeled after Peter Lorre.
what the hell count chocula looks just plain weird when you make him into a live action character!!!
These are my favorite cereals I literally came here to watch the history of it
I remember going to my grandmothers house down the dirt road the dogs would meet up with the car halfway there and she would have this cereal every time I opened the cabinet always these 3 cereals, they've got the marketing down right because their product is a part of my childhood memory which is key to marketing
So weird I have the exact same memories
I love 70s ❤️
Don Messick dubbed Boo Berry's Voice,Allen Swift dubbed Count Chocula's voice.
It didn't sound that way to me.
I got Fruit Brute in 2013 (I think) and thought it was awesome they were adding a new monster to the line up, then I found out it existed in the past and they actually rid of it, I liked it so I was extremely disappointed it was a limited time thing. I tried yummy mummy as well, but I didn't care for that one too much tbh. Still would be nice if both came back though.
I don’t why but I love the commercials where he just say COUNT CHOCULA!!
I forgot how Count Chocula and Franken Berry used to argue about whose cereal was the best lol.
🧛♂️🟫🦇😎
What a trip down memory lane. Going to pick them all up in the retro-boxes at Target this October.
They are imitating voice of Boris Karlof for Frankenberry, Bela Lugosi for Count Chocula and Peter Lorre for Boo Berry.
I haven’t had Count Chocula since I was a kid!
I want Frankin Berry cereal now.
🦇🧛♂️🟫😎
Back in the 70's and 80's the monster cereals were awesome. NOW, they totally suck. Take for example Count Chocula. Back in the day, the cereal was lightly flavored chocolate oats and CHOCOLATE marshmallows in the shape of little squares. NOW the oats in the cereal are glazed over and taste like Cocoa Puffs, and the marshmallows are WHITE. It still boggles my mind how horrible General Mills F--s up their cereal to try and "IMPROVE" it.
I agree
Notice how small cereal boxes have gotten. Like everything else pay more get less.
They want to make it "Healthy".
Jac Conte I’m with you. I like the taste of all 3. Especially Frankenberry.
They are no longer made with oats. They are made with corn now which is why they taste crappy now.
Thank you for the blast from the past
Awesome compilation. Thank you!
I was eating BooBerry while watching this! October 1, 2018
Some questions I have gathered in the first 3 minutes:
1: Why do they keep calling the marshmallows "sweeties"
2: Why are monsters scared so easily
3: Why does the Count keep a box of his cereal under his pillow
1. It was the style at the time.
2. because irony is delicious. Like Count Chocula cereal!
3. Security.
Comicbookfan91 You mean you DON'T keep a box of Count Chocula under your pillow?
@@StarSnowGhost Nya, yeah, I thought everyone kept a box of their own cereal brand under their pillow, you know, with your name and an image of you smiling with a bowl and a spoon.
And why did they put marshmallows there?
Anyone notice that Frankenberry's head looks like a rear end?
Imagine having the cereal in the last commercial in your kitchen and then you went down to the kitchen and had that box staring at you
Alex Lembo its just a animation parody

Hoovesandpaws 99 I was eating boo berry
Sugar The Diancie you can only buy these during halloween and two months ago is november
DarkChocolateDandidooDCD Where did you get it? My mom wants some!
(I know I am asking you this almost a year after you posted this comment)
Caris Kane you can get them during september and october so try looking at target now they might have them
This sure brought back memories. Maybe they'll come up with some zombie themed cereal next since there are zombies everywhere else.
They totally should!
Zucchini Zombie cereal
If Skittles can have a Zombie flavor, then I guess anything is possible.
@@Darth234Ravenous part of this good breakfast.
"we are the monsters strong and tough,we'll scare you but you cant scare us"

They actually got it mixed up. More like "us humans could scare you monsters, but you can't scare us." (As for you Count Chocula, you're so handsome and sexy.)
5:30 Thos "hoots" are kazoos.
Kids' cereals used to have such neat prizes inside, lol. Today, you pay 4 bucks and just get cereal.
1:25 Love it when Choc and Frankie do the Mel Brooks thing with the bookcase! I can almost hear Young Frankenberry go "Choc! Put...the cereal box.... BACK!"
Man i remember eating these cereals what a memories
If this video didnt pop up on my recommendations some years ago i would have never joined in on the craze so i thank you

Finally got my hands on all five cereals, and they're the vintage boxes from Target!
I remember the first Monster cereal I ever tried was either Count Chocula or Fruit Brute (when it came back in 2013).
Wow dude I also had Count Chocula™ once because it is the only "Monster Cereal" to ever have existed.
awesome name
wow! all the way back to 2013??? thats like totally like retro.
The two discontinued Monster Cereals, Fruity Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute, were rereleased in 2013, only for them to be discontinued again :(
they weren't very good honestly. i tried both. i like the other 3 though.
