‘Khorasan’ was inspired by the stories “In Baghdad Dreaming of Cairo: In Cairo, Dreaming of Baghdad” by Rumi, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Sometimes the treasures we are looking for are already within us, but it can take a long journey far away to discover this. Khorasan is a historical region of Persia that provides the destination of this spiritual journey, where we discover the answers to the secrets of this world were inside us all along. ‘Khorasan’ can be heard on Sami Yusuf’s 2014 album ‘The Centre’.

Sung in multiple languages (including English, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Punjabi, Azeri), this exhilarating performance by the multi-instrumentalist, composer and renowned singer Sami Yusuf brings together world-class musicians from around the globe to take listeners on a musical journey of discovery.

Ersin Özkan yes first migration started when Changiz-Han attacked khorasan (Afghanistan) many Afghans migrated to Anatolia(Turkey) like Mawlana Jalaludin Balkhi(Rumi) and etc...... And these migration repeatedly happened in history. That’s is why Afghans/Turks have culture similarities. ✋☝️.

I cry when I listen to this I can't believe you exist.
I had the same powerful emotions too when I first heard it.. especially the part he sang "can you guide me to the treasures I have lost"... I has this profound meaning.. a physical thing can be found physically, but not a spiritual one.. It lies within all along.. and Sami's voice is just... He is also wonderful to just look at when he sings from his heart!

This resonates with the current situation that's happening in Afghanistan known as khorasan centuries ago. The world is watching us burn and our people die. No international help nothing. How can I go back home
But reading Afghan history is just fabulous. It's filled with so much intellectuals and so many great cities and great people. Although our people don't have an good experience of Afghans (Kashmir 😅) , although we're culturally very close to Afghans.
