    Had a right eye vitrectomy with dr wong last Friday 2/9 and I gotta say what an amazing surgeon he is! I’m only 4 days out and my vision is great! I was so afraid but they took great care of me. Cannot be happier and say enough about dr wong and his staff! Thank you dr wong for what you do!

    Dr. Wong, because the vitreous is usually firmly attached and sticky in young people, do you have to use a different technique to induce the PVD? If so, what do you do differently?

    • @RandallWongMD
      @RandallWongMD  6 лет назад

      Not much difference....just careful and deliverate! r

    Randy,
    Have you kept up with this patient and know how he is currently doing?
    Also with young ppl especially who don't want cataracts... how do you avoid that?

    Is the Vitesse instrument something you would consider or have heard of?
    Also did Nate go to you for all follow up care?

    • @RandallWongMD
      @RandallWongMD  7 лет назад

      Vitesse very new. Not much data. HIPAA regulations do not allow me to discuss patient information.

    Does Dr. Wong himself have eye floaters ?

  • @BradfordFenton

    Can an FOV help stop vision from being shaky/ glittchy as I believe it's from the vitreous pulling on retina or macula...?

    • @RandallWongMD

      It's very difficult to answer specifically without examining you. Randy

    Randy,
    After hearing Nate describe how every single doctor he consulted with strongly advised against a vitrectomy, in addition to his entire family strongly advising against it, does that play any part in treating him? As someone who has considered this procedure, this unequivocal recommendation not to have this procedure done gives me great pause.

    • @RandallWongMD

      Your opinions are respected. Thanks for following. Randy

      Randall Wong you didn't answer my question...do those recommendations against the procedure play any part in treating/not treating him?

    • @RandallWongMD
      @RandallWongMD  7 лет назад +1

      What exactly are you asking? If you have great pause about the operation, then don't move forward. Very easy decision for you. Thanks for following! Randy

    Do we have to stay out of contacts for a set time before the surgery?

  • @seuratguy
    @seuratguy 2 года назад

    My interaction with my retina specialist regarding getting a vitrectomy for floaters (his negative attitude, it's mostly just in my head!) has fundamentally changed my trust in doctors. In my experience, when a doctor can't personally see the root cause of a complaint or doesn't know what to do about it, they say it's a psychological issue with the patient. This is incredibly insulting and reveals the insecurity and arrogance of the doctor. Enough of my rant...

    Randy, here's my big concern. If you put more emphasis on documenting patient outcomes, both short and long term I would be able to make a decision of whether to do this operation or not. That the patient reports back at intervals post surgery should be part of the agreement. There are many ways you could facilitate this, either through a web site or email system, or even just follow up calls. Your figures of (estimated) 1-2% retinal detachment seem to be uniquely low as compared to papers I have read. In a fee for service environment I'd be an idiot not to be suspicious. I'm not suggesting you are disingenuous necessarily, but some doctors are, so how can I tell you apart if you won't stand by hard numbers ??

      I appreciate your input and suggestions. Implementing them is not as easy as you suggest. You have every right to express your suspicions. This is the best we can do at this time. All the best to you. Randy

    On AVERAGE when could we get back in contacts ?

    • @RandallWongMD
      @RandallWongMD  7 лет назад +1

      On average, several weeks. Not very long. r

      Randall Wong is there a reason we wait that long as I would need to be in contact to function properly.

      I want the outside tissue a chance to heal. Take care. Randy
