Thank you all so much for your lovely comments and support for our original song. Obviously we are ALL delighted that No ID played this to the man himself. Big love to you all xxxxxxxx Hannah Williams xxxx
The whole time I thought 4:44 was sampled by an old school artist only to find out it was an artists from this generation. She has a phenomenal voice and I'm glad I found out about this group thanks to Jay Z. Already listening to their albums and they are amazing!!
I cannot believe music like this is being made in 2017 (2016 but whatever)! When I heard it on 4:44 i was so sure it was some 70's soul sister singing. Really dope

Lyrics: Why do I find it so hard to love you? When I know in my heart that I want to? I’ve been putting you down when you aren’t around I’m letting you down every day I’ve been messing around when you’re out of town Why do I keep on running away? I’m a part time lover and I’m never there I find it hard to believe you don’t want it to end I’ll be changing my tune when you walk in the room I’ll be fixing the look on my face I’m gonna get close to you, give my loving to you At least until you’re going away I know that I’m not good I’m never gonna treat you like I should I’ve heard that all of the boys think you’re crazy When I treat you so bad, why do you want me? I’ve heard that all of the girls are starting to hate me For stealing your heart and treating you badly It doesn’t hurt anymore when you walk through the door I forget every word that you said And I can’t put you down when no one else is around And when you’re gone, you’re getting replaced I know that I’m not good I’m never gonna treat you, never gonna treat you like I should I’m a part time lover
SO happy that Tyler’s ZIPLOC is trending again, hopefully that’s gonna lead people through the 4.44 rabbit hole to find this GORGEOUS track waiting for them on the other end
Mannnnn she sung tf outta this song!!!!! I'm just as shocked as everyone else to find out this song was recently released. I swore it was from back in the days (60s-70s). It's amazing that Jay-Z and No ID gave her this recognition, this song is EVERYTHING! This is my kind of music .. why aren't they bigger?
I can't believe this brilliant, soulful song came out this past year. Sounds like a time capsule. This is a perfect example that GOOD music is not dead. There are gems everywhere like this band. Shoutout to JAY-Z and No I.D. for sharing this to a greater platform. Just pure, raw emotion. Her voice is wild yet controlled. My brain and heart grew listening to this masterpiece. Beautiful.. ::sigh::
You should listen to Adrian Younge, Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings for similar modern musicians whose music all captures that 70s feel good Soul sound. A lot of them are UK based which is cool for me as I'm from England and just pretty interesting with some of the guys I mentioned working with a lot of the names who were behind some of Amy Winehouse's Soulful stuff. Altogether I guess they're part of a small underrated scene in England with a lot of vintage sounding Soul so if that's what you're into then I'd definitely recommend checking it out. Just check out the record labels too because most those underground labels have the same sound all across the board. So yeah, that's the place to look for that sorta sound. It's also a shame though because a lot of Hip Hop producers seem to know about these sort of musicians and labels and keep tabs on all their music so anytime they hear something which sounds like the 70s vintage Soul that's usually sampled for Hip Hop, they'll just sample it from these musicians which is much easier than searching through obscure old school vinyl records for samples for example. So the result is a lot of these musicians are having their talent exploited by a lot of Hip Hop producers 'sampling' all their songs. I know it's not the first time Jay-Z's done it and I can think of three other examples right now of where he took from these underground artists and I know hundreds more who have done it too. I produce Hip Hop myself and have nothing against sampling, but when you're just jacking a loop of a modern day unheard of producer because you know they're talented and nearly every song they make will be good enough for you to sample and turn into a banger, then that's just lazy. The art of Hip Hop and sampling is about searching for samples and transforming it into something new. Even if you have permission it's still basically stealing in my eyes which is lame. So yeah. That's why I'm not too fond of No ID sampling this song, especially as all he did was add some effects, a bit more bass and some drums really
This is mind blowing! So many thoughts right now.... No ID is a genius for finding this song, sampling it the way he did and changing the tempo. Artist usually would be mad at other artists for sampling their music that's not even a year old but Jay-Z just made them platinum.
Hannah's voice is so incredible! Her vocals are silky smooth like butter and she really knows how to put power behind her voice when she belts. It gives me chills!

There is something to be said about a song when you wake up singing it every morning since you first heard it SAMPLED, no less! Wow. Your voice is incredible and I LOVE the original even more!
You have got to be so in tune and intertwined with music to know about every genre, group, individual, band to explore what can be used as a good sample or a good remake. NO I D has proven himself over and over again. I love that he is a producer and can make something spectacular out of something that's already spectacular!!! This woman's voice is amazing and the band is everything! The sound is very old school and I love it. Would have never guessed it was from today's music! GREAT JOB!!!!

This song is beautiful on its on merits. Such a lovely performance and the lyrics ring true. I really thought it was a lost gem from the 70s. I'm a Hannah Williams fan now and the sample was a stroke of genius. Such truth in her voice.
Wow-just realized that this was my ex girlfriends way of telling me that she was cheating on me. She would always play this song and say it described her exactly (almost with a bit of joy in her voice: “this is me! This song is me in when it comes to you!” smh…I never listened to the lyrics that deeply because I was into other music but now it all makes sense. Damn, I could have saved myself from 6 months of an agonizing relationship had I listened.
My local radio station played a sneak preview of Jay-Z's album like 3 weeks ago and I haven't been able to get over the sound of your voice. Finally found the source. I'm not a big Jay-Z fan but I'm yours now.
I feel like I'm the last person to show up to the party. Ms Williams, your voice is EVERYTHING. I am obsessed with this song. People criticize hip hop for sampling... but you have to respect the breath and range producers and DJs must have in order to call on and use songs such as this. By doing so, they introduce artists to more fans who grow in their appreciation of the music. I'm grateful to NO ID and to Ms. Williams for their art.

This is the beauty of sampling in hip hop, something Stevie Wonder and Prince don't/didn't understand.
