Often overlooked but the British armed forces failed just as spectacularly as the French did in the 1940 Fall of France, except the Brits had an island to fall back to lol. They just as fool hardily rushed into Belgium to meet the Wehrmacht. 😷
Difference is Britain had 200,000 men, under French command. And France had 6 million.
Just as Spectacularly my arse.
@@Dryhten1801 Non, il n'y avait que 1,9 millions de français sur la frontière allemande.
Brits rushed to Belgium because the french command ordered to do it.
Soon all these trucks and men will be on the beaches of Dunkirk
Or in German Hands
@@hygher true. Read a fantastic article once about how the German army with a little help from Opal (part of GM). Refurbished all those lovely GM (Bedford) trucks and sent them off to Russia the next year
@@timwebster8122 Yeah they also used Matildas in North Africa and German soldiers were supplied with British rations and Medical equipment
The retreating BEF had to be rescued by civilians at Dunkirk. I can't imagine anything more embarrassing than that for a soldier.
The first few minutes are at the N 512 border crossing at Estaimpuis/Wattrelos (Herseaux train station).
Something similar happened near the fish and chip shop in grimsby
My Dad was there
