Everywhere I've seen it says godkiller is going to be a trilogy
I’m just starting my Sanderson adventure….. book one Mistborn and I’m trying to savor it instead of just rushing through them all. We’ll see🤷🏼♀️
I also recently started reading Sanderson. Hoping to read all the Cosmere by the end of this year. I'm starting The Well of Ascension this week.
I started with stormlight archives. Now reading mistborn and it was a bit hard to follow. Getting better.
I wouldn't say I have a love-hate relationship with Sanderson. More of a like-dislike. I think he tells a good story, and for the amount he publishes in a year it does not appear that the quality of his writing suffers at all. I just find that his stories would be very much at home in late 20th century fantasy. Lots of high fantasy, hero's journey stuff. Well-told. Very professional. Just sort of old-fashioned.
I'm right there with ya!!@@puzzlingread
I think I will love it more because of it's "old fashionedness" I find myself leaning into some of the older stuff more. Of coarse I really enjoy a new book here and there!@@richardmpittman
The other day I was browsing John Gwynne's social media to check if he had said anything about the 3rd book in Bloodsworn. I know he suffered a great loss in his life so I am prepared to read his past series (which I have yet to try) to wait for him to get in a good mental state for writing. I'll be ready for that new book if it does come out this year to support him.
I finally marathoned The Winternight Trilogy as my first reads of 2024 and I'm so glad I did. The perfect way to start the year!
Bookseller here, I've read Sunbringer already and Fallen Gods is for sure a trilogy.
You could call your book THE LUNA CHRONICLES
Yes! Yourself and Tori are some of my favorite booktubers!
I loved Belladonna! I can’t wait for the third book of the series! 🎉📖🩵📖🎉📚📚🎉📖🩵🎉📙📚🎉🩵🩵🩵🎉📚📚🎉🎉📖🩵📖📚📚📚📖🩵🩵🎉📚📙📚🎉🩵🩵🩵📖🎉📚📚📚🎉📖🩵🩵📖🎉🎉📚📚🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
Just a heads-up, The War Arts Saga by Wesley Chu (The Art of Prophecy/Destiny) is definitely meant to be more than just a duology. The second book does not wrap things up, so at least one more book is intended for that series. I enjoyed the series so far, and am looking forward to finishing the series when it does get completed.
So good to know 👍🏻
I read that the final book is slated for a 2024 release!
I'm also hoping to get better at finishing series in 2024 - I'm trying not to let too much time pass in between books in the same series because I always forget everything 😅
I have a list of 24 series to finish this year. It’s a total of 35 books, so not too bad for the number of books I read. My list also includes the Winternight trilogy.
Oh cannot WAIT for the third book in the Bloodsworn saga - I will deffo be doing s re-read of the first two. Currently reading Rob J. Hayes The War Eternal and its SO GOOD
I agree! I love Tori’s channel!!!!! Completing series is on my goal list this year too ☺️ we can do this everyone!
At this rate, my TBR will outlive me.😂 I'll have to get to some of these. I'm currently reading all the dragonlance books for the first time.
I believe most of us readers have a TBR that will outlive us. This is why we should prioritize the ones we love and never feel bad about DNFing a book even if we thought we would love it.
@christine2931 That is definitely the one thing I have trouble with. Once I start a book, I force myself to finish it. This year, I'm gonna try to change that, I hate wasting my time on a book I don't like.
I am going to spend this entire year anxious because of Stormlight 5 - Please don't do what I think you're going to do Brandon... I LOVE HIM TOO MUCH
I’m currently working on some backlist series Mistborn era 1, and The Red Queen. I hope to finish both this year. I’m also looking toward to The House in the Cerulean Sea sequel - not sure how many books are planned for that “series”.
So excited about so many of these, especially Sunbringer!
I’m still finishing up the Faithful and the Fallen series, which I love. But I can’t wait to get to Bloodsworn after. Hopefully book three will be out by the time I finish books one and two.
I just finished Throne in the Dark. Its a romcom fantasy and it was absolutely delightful. A hidden gem. Ill be wanting to finish the series this year as well as so many more!
Thanks for the recommendation
I just finished it a few days ago as well. What a coincidence! As someone who doesn't usually like Fantasy Romance, I really enjoyed the lighhearted tone of this book and that it didn't take itself too seriously.
Good luck with all your beautiful readings Elliot of the series hope you compete your goals 🎉📚🩵📚🎉🎉📚🩵📚🎉📖📖📖📚🩵🩵🩵📚📖📖📖🎉🩵🩵🩵📚🎉📖📖🎉🩵🩵🩵🩵📖📖📖📙📖🎉📚🎉📖📙📖🎉📚🩵🩵🎉📖📙🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
Man I hope you like Queen of the Tearling’s ending more than I did. I loved the first 2 books but I didn’t feel like the last book stuck the landing, I would love to know what your thoughts on the series regardless!
Oh man I truly truly hope that Bloodsworn Saga 3 comes out this year, damn
Here’s a fact about the Queen of the Tearning ending that might help you pick it up. When I finished the last book I also didn’t like the ending but I always found myself thinking about it and after almost 3 years I feel like that was the only ending for the book. Especially when I started picking up on all the foreshadowing going back as far as the first book. It’s not a satisfying ending but it’s an ending that made sense at that time. Hope this helps 😅
I loved This Vicious Grace!! I’m definitely excited for the next one!
The Elements of Cadence duology by Rebecca Ross is a must! ✨🌬️
I plan on doing the same thing with Books 2 and 3 of Empire of the Wolf. I still need to get to the Six Crimson Cranes series.
Early ARC reviews are saying Sunbringer is clearly setting up a third book. For me, personally, I'm excited to finish MR Carey's Pandominion duology. The first book, Infinity Gate, was one of my favorite reads last year.
Rooting for you to be able to check some of these off this year!
Series I want to finish this year are Mistborn era 1, Remembrance of Earth's Past, Winnowing Flame, Lord of the Rings, and to get caught up on the last two Murderbots
Talking about The Vicious Grace I need to buy/read This Cursed Light.
Good luck and I hope you reach your goals.
Yes, I want to complete series too. I have so many that I'm procrastinating on. I want to continue the Beartown trilogy by Backman, The First Law by Abercrombie, Dune by Herbert, The Shepherd King by Rachel Gillig, The Inheritance Cycle by Paolini, and more of the Cosmere by Sanderson.
I'm hoping to read the first two volumes of the Indian Lake series by Stephen Graham Jones before the third one is released in March. Just bought a UK paperback copy of Godkiller, and the back cover confirms that it's a trilogy.
I have about 20 SciFi and Fantasy series that I want to read this year and I am so excited!
I hope Shannon Messenger comes out with her last book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. While I've enjoyed it, the books are so long that I am really am ready for her to wrap the series up so I can finish it! I'm also planning on reading the next two releases coming out for K. M. Shea's Magiford Supernatural City series, but, even though it will finish up the Magic on Main Street trilogy, I don't think these will be her last two books in the umbrella series as a whole. I am super proud of myself though, I finished/caught up on at least 15 series last year (most of the ones I completely read/finished were trilogies). I'd have to go back and do another count to get the actual number, but I still feel pretty accomplished, lol.
Song of Silver is already one of my top reads of 2024, I absolutely loved it. I thought the sequel wasn’t supposed to come out until late January-early February so I was happy to see it was actually January 2nd, I just haven’t been able to get it yet 😞 very excited though
Recently I made a shelf on my Goodreads of all the series I have to finish and it’s currently at 13 though that number will sooner increase than decrease 😅 I literally have no self control when it comes to books and it’s just something I’ve had to accept about myself lol
So I’ll be that one unpopular opinion (but a positive one!) and say I LOVED the entire Raven’s Shadow (Blood Song) trilogy. I did not mind that he expanded it to have several points of view or that the way the story is told changed. I still think it was a great story and well worth a read. I enjoyed the other perspectives he brought in (one turned into a favorite of mine along with Vaelin). Hope you give it a go and love it too!
Surprised to see Castles in Their Bones on this list though, I just checked it out from the library the other day lol. I had just finished Laura’s Ash Princess trilogy and decided I’d give her other work a try
I'm excited to see a Valdemar series on the list!
Just picked up The Justice of Kings and plan to read through the trilogy. Of course Stormlight Archive. Recently read the Grace of Kings and plan to finish the Dandelion Dynasty this year. I also plan to finish the Expanse...just have books 8&9 to go. There are more, but that's enough for now. Any news on Engines of War? Have you heard anything?!?!
I am continuing on with The Rift War books by Raymond E Feist. I reread the first 3 and am rereading the 4th book which is a stand a lone
I love Tori Morrow's channel too! I read a wide variety of genres but mostly horror, SciFi, Fantasy (and Mystery/Thrillers, etc) so I get a lot of my recs from her.
The main series I want to complete is ... Stormlight Archive 🤣 I haven't read any of it yet, but have read the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris, and The Emperor's Soul. Figured it was about time to tackle Stormlight, and it might take me all year to do it! And btw - it was a scene in The Well of Ascension (my favorite of the Mistborn Era 1 trilogy) that finally grabbed me and I knew I was hooked on Sanderson's stories - Vin talking to OreSuer while they were sitting on the wall and discussing the death of Kelsier. It showed me the depth of emotion that Sanderson could bring, how well developed his characters were. etc.
I have about 11 series taht I want to "finish" this year. I say this in quotes, as some of the one I want to reach are more of a catch up to the current book.
i hope stormlight 5 absolutely breaks my heart, i'm looking forward to it 😎
OOOH I NEVER KNEW YOU READ QUEEN OF THE TEARLING. I LOVED THAT SERIES SO MUCH. and i actually really loved the ending haha
The last book in the Queen of the Tearling series was so underwhelming for me. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it!
I read an ARC of Sunbringer. No spoilers but it is not the end.
Godkiller is definitely a trilogy (at least)! I read the arc of “Sunbringer” and it ended on another cliffhanger 😭 the books are so good I can’t wait for the conclusion!
I hated book two of Queen of the Tearling but thought book three brought it home. I think you would be OK finishing with book one. Im the same way about Bloodsong. Likely womt be reading on.
I just finished Tyranny of Faith to be ready for the 3rd book. Oh man the heartbreak. If the 3rd is the best one I am ready for it!!!
I just finished the art of destiny! It was so good! But it is NOT duology, there is a third book (hopefully) coming out this year.
First era of Stormlight is ending already? I'm planning to pick up the first book this year. I like knowing that this era will be complete but avoiding spoilers will be difficult... Very excited for The Trials of Empire. The 2nd book is even better than the 1st IMO which is usually rare in a trilogy!
Stormlight.....Im dreading " those events " as well, but if we learned anything from Mistborn, and the cosmere blurring the lines between the physical and cognitive, Im pretty sure at least some of those events are going to happen. At 1st i said, just not Kaladin........or Dalinar,.......or Adolin.......or Renarin.......lmao, i pretty much couldnt handle any of em......... I even miss Sadeas and i hated him!!!
I want to complete Licanus and All Souls. I'm focusing on my trilogies.
Why is sunbringer only in paperback?
I read the first book of the series I am going to continue on the series too I can’t wait 📚📚🩵🩵📚📖📖🎉📚🩵📚🎉📖📖🎉🩵🩵📙📖📖🎉🩵🩵🩵📚📖📖📙📙🎉📚🩵📚🎉📖📖📙📖🎉📚🩵🩵🩵📚🎉📖📖📖📚🩵🩵📚🎉📖📖📖📚🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵📖📚📖🩵🩵📖🎉🎉📙📙📙🎉📚🩵🩵🩵📚📙📙
