Thank you to whoever took the lead in making this content. As a basketball fan who wishes I had given more importance to basketball when I was young and had become a professional, I found a lot of things about Turkish basketball culture in this content. I watched breathlessly. It is an honor to have such a documentary on the NBA’s official channel. 🏀 I’m too late to become professional, but I still continue to play basketball on the streets with different generations. It’s a passion…

Who exactly would want a game in which you have 10 guys on the court who don't play defense, make sure they don't play every game and run around like pansies when you actually have a real basketball league where the players play their hearts out?
The question Isn't if the NBA should play a game in Turkey. It is more like I wish European teams would come play games here in America so i can actually watch real basketball.

The labour in this video is very high. The editing skills and sound engineering is unbeatable. Thank you for promoting my city and our hoops culture to world. Istanbul is a center of Turkish basketball and many youngsters are interested with this game since their childhood. Turkish basketball is nothing different or underscore than Balkan, Greek or Italian culture. In every neighborhood you can find more than 2 court. The people from different gender, age watches NBA and Euroleague all the time. My club Fenerbahçe and other big clubs like Efes, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş are always contributing the Turkish Basketball culture in many ways. Hoops not just for courts, it comes from streets. The soul of this game is very unique than other sports. We were waking up in the morning to watch playoffs, finals or All Star games. We were chanting in Dunk Contest. NBA has a special place in Turkish people's life and it will always be. Again thank you for reflecting my country's soul in a right way. Good luck Furkan, Alperen, Cedi in the season! WE LOVE THIS GAME. 🏀🔥

As someone who played at Beşiktaş (youth system up until the B team) for almost a decade, I can say that the basketball scene here in Istanbul is like a family. I feel like everybody knows each other one way or another.
Also, my first game ever as a licensed player was in Caferağa. Brings back memories. 2 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks and a steal off the bench. Still remember it like yesterday.

The rise of basketball in Turkey began with the '12 Giant Men' and the '2001 European Basketball Championship.' It continued with increased investment at the professional level, especially with teams like Fenerbahçe, and the contribution of Coach Obradovic's vision. There is a strong sense of ownership and fanaticism among the fans, but unfortunately, this does not translate into success in developing players because we are focused on daily achievements, sadly.
What we call street basketball is not played in the neighborhoods but rather in closed, secure places or private parks like the ones you see in documentaries, such as Caddebostan. This is because your basketball can get stolen, or fights can break out. The truth is, basketball is a sport of the ghetto, but in our ghettos, people play football.

    Dear NBA RUclips Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I recently watched the Istanbul episode of your Hoop Cities series, and I want to start by expressing my appreciation for showcasing the vibrant basketball culture in Istanbul. The documentary was beautifully shot and provided great insights into the city's passion for the sport.
However, I was disappointed to see that Darüşşafaka Basketball was not mentioned in the episode. As a proud graduate of Darüşşafaka, where I studied from 2002 to 2012, I have a deep connection with the school and its basketball team. Darüşşafaka has played a significant role in Istanbul's basketball history and continues to contribute to the sport's development in the city.
What makes this omission even more surprising is that many of the scenes in the documentary were shot on Darüşşafaka's court. It feels like a missed opportunity to highlight a team that has been instrumental in nurturing young talent and promoting basketball in Istanbul.
Basketball is my passion, and I have been following the NBA with all my heart and soul. I believe that including Darüşşafaka in the documentary would have provided a more comprehensive and accurate portrayal of Istanbul's basketball scene. I hope that future content can acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of all significant teams and institutions in the cities being featured.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to more great content from your channel.
