New subscriber here!!! ..super cool having the barn find collection ....so incredible...I love these old cars.. thank you for sharing such great stuff..-John
I love seeing the barn finds, but leaving the dust and dirt on them has gotten out of hand... I'd much rather be able to see the original paint, and interiors. At least dust them off.
@@jamesf4405 its cause when you find the car it isnt washed waxed and spit shined, they are found dirty, it helps some of the cars to not look janky like it looks like an actual killers car with the roof all ripped up and they even mentioned the trunk could fit many bodies, but if the car was all shiny the ripped shreds of roof would then just look silly.... ps its a barn find section of the show and a video that says that clearly, if you want shiny go where they role play shiny boy stuff
Parker ye gotta run down to Florida and do a report on cars we lost to the flood .Okay I think I gonna start crying lol. Thank you for your content sir
I think Pontiac called them ‘SJ’ as a tribute to the famous Duesenberg SJ of the ‘30s. In the Doozy’s case it was simply a ‘supercharged model J’. There was also an even more rare SSJ (I think only one survives).
great video, btw the TA challenger hood wasnt lift off, that was the 68 and half 6pak road runner and RT. original TA and AAR hoods usually are a bit warped from the hood spring pressure.
I've watched a lot of your videos. But Ive got to say barn finds or not here, I can't believe how much you & Marty, along with watching people in the background touch other people's car. I realize Marty had a car there & the Mopar5150 touches his own cars there. Maybe you don't realize, but rewatch how much it's done in the video. I just remember my dad telling me growing up, no matter what shape a car is in you keep your hands in your pockets & keep away from the cars. Do not touch them. Take it as you will, I'll probably still watch here & there.
Among the midyear Corvettes, the Z06 option was only offered in 1963; it included knock-off wheels with the big fuel tank. ‘N03’ was the option code for the 36-gallon tank from 1964-1967.
Hey my name is Marty also!!! 😂 Great barn finds. That convertible Coronet R/T would be so cool, it has a tough look even through all the dirt!!! SSJ was "Super Sport Hurst" the "J" was the designation for the Hurst enhanced cars.
They’re still out there. I found my SC360 Hornet calling a guy on Craigslist who had AMC parts listed. He said during the conversation he had the car but wasn’t ready to sell it. 6 months later I was buying it.
Crazy rare Mopars and we have to look at a Vette with a monster gas tank, teehee. I love that Cuda with the crazy 70`s race paint. I was born in 1962, I am 62 years old, these were the cars of my era, my buddies had Cudas, Chargers, Challengers, AAR`s and I never seen a Hemi car in my teens and 20`s, that`s how rare they were even back then. I had a 70 road runner 383 with air grabber hood, the fastest car in our neihborhood was a 69 Charger with a 440 six pack and my buddy rebuilt those carbs and dialed them in perfect, it was fast for those days let me tell ya, loved the video. Oh yeah, in those days you could buy a great running Charger in good shape for $1,500 all day long, I payed $900 for the road runner, my dad thought I was nuts.
The "SSJ" designation on a Pontiac Grand Prix SSJ refers to a special edition of the Grand Prix created in collaboration with Hurst Performance. The "SSJ" was produced during the late 1960s and early 1970s. SSJ stands for Special Sport J. SSJs were equipped with performance upgrades and special paint schemes, such as gold or white with gold accents. The Hurst modifications included Hurst badging, upgraded suspension, and a Hurst Dual-Gate (His and Hers) shifter. The SSJ (Hurst) models were marketed as luxury-performance cars and are popular with collectors due to their rarity and unique Hurst partnership. -- ChatGPT
I have owned my classic car for over 50 years. It was my high school car, which I cared meticulously for. I have raced it, wrecked it, rebuilt it, four different engines, brought babies home, vacations, teached teenagers to drive stick in it. All the stories, experiences, and destinations. I didn't leave it in a barn the last five decades where birds shit on it and mice shit in it. Somehow these cars are priceless relics. Compared to these rare barn finds, my car is totally worthless.
I had a copper and black strip 71 heavy chevy chevelle it came with a 400 cubic inch turbo 400 it was a good looking car I had .any big blockchevelles and small block chevelle but other then my 70 LS6 454 my 71 heavy chevy was my favorite.
My neighbor had a Pontiac Bonneville a 65 model with a 421 32 barrels a 4-speed and a 8 lug Wheels it was a 2 + 2 and all kind of options don't really remember ✌️🙂👍👍 17:32
I have a 63 Ford Galaxie “R” code 427 convertible, 411 we’re built. With a 427, it was in a garage in Michigan since the 70’s, I’d post a pic if I could
How cool would it be to be able to go back to 1975 with 100K? In 75 the muscle car craze was over. You could go out and get a 69 Z28 RS Camaro for 1500 bucks 68-70 Chargers were a dime a dozen...They couldn't give Daytona's or Superbirds away....Cudas, Challengers , Roadrunners...LS6 Chevelles 66-67 Chevells for 5-800 bucks...Who knew cars would be that big of an investment?....Its something we will never see again just because cars arent made that way anymore. I came up in the 90s so I still remember when 15-20K was all the money for a big block Chevelle or a Camaro
So you take a car, throw a bunch of dirt on it, and it's a "barn find"!! Sell it for a million, go party! I'll take the tanker, and a couple of those Mopars as well!
Thanks, oddly interesting look at , & overviews of older cars ….particularly, as my first “new car “buy was 1970 DODGE CORONET 500/383/ Ralley Red/ Blk Vinyl top& Bkack deluxe interiors, etc…Second , new car a Custom Order **1977 TRANS AM Hurst Hatch ,Special ED., BLack velour, etc.( ordering on last of OCTOBER, **1976, before Smokey/ Bandit drama)… ….& so in. Great times! Rare stuff, & the 68 Charger / 4 Color 4 Speed!!!!!! ( wow , also).
i bought a 68 nova ss350 way back in 79 and it had an aluminum intake with a holley 780 dual feed vacuum secondary carb . it had the 12 bolt posi and a heavy duty 3 speed on the floor . i'm wondering if that carb , manifold was factory ?
@@SpaceInTime1885why is that a joke? People enjoy seeing old cars in the state they were found in. A lot of these were used, whether it be for racing, or general use, then stored for decades due to all kinds of reasons. People enjoy dreaming about finding them because most cannot afford a super high end restoration, but can probably afford something dug out of a barn or field. Even more special when it’s a rare/special car, like most(actually all) of these. It’s the busiest area of what is probably the most high end muscle car show in the nation. So I would say it’s fairly popular too. Don’t know where you got Maaco from. But yes. The area is sponsored so all the participants get a cool sign with their name and info on it.
I'm buying a 70 charger 500, now the fender tag is missing😢. Is there a place you can order them with vintag nr. I really have to know. Nice this episode by the way
If you have the build sheet MMC Detroit can make a new one off that build sheet. Without the build sheet I believe(but am not 100% sure) they will make you a tag with just basic options and nothing special to be sure you’re not getting a false tag.
The SJ on the Pontiac nameplate came from the designers and engineers influence from the 1920s Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs as one of those vehicles used similar letters to signify.

5:10 SSJ is an homage to the mighty Duesenberg SSJs of the 30s, much admired by John DeLorean.

SSJ was "Super Sport Hurst" the "J" was the designation for the Hurst enhanced cars.
The "J" in the Grand Prix was for John DeLorean. They had a LJ and an SJ. L for luxury and S for sport. Not sure what the SSJ meant.
You might be right. I always thought it was in reference to the Duesenberg J, SJ, and SSJ.

That 421 tri power safari ❤❤❤ wow

Back when I was in school and other student had a gremlin with 304 . It could do a killer wheelie.

My Uncle had the 68 R/T Charger, 440 Four Speed, 3 Deuce Setup, Metal Flake Blue… I still remind him!!!

I used to own the 1972 Caprice coupe. It had a 402 big block in it. Last time I saw it was turning into a lowrider
Yes the 70 coronet front was designed to resemble bee wings.
The Grand Prix door handle was out before KingDigit was born. I'm sure that's where he got the idea from.
