- I made some freakin schweet side skirts that cover the rear wheels to improve aerodynamic efficiency, reduce drag, improve mpg, and win some old school style points.

Great job Brandon! Especially for a budget first iteration.
Yeah quite impressive and they look good too. Think I will make a pair for my Volvo S60 as its already got the same Cd as a Nissan leaf and is driven almost always on the highway. Thanks for posting.
That's bad ass, very creative! I've always wondered what skirts would look like on a Prius body! Awesome!👍
Thanks man! 🤙🤙
@@Brandon_Makes_Stuff Thanks for uploading this, I just wish I had seen this before all this Cv Martial Law, before my sheet metal spots got shut down! If I can get my hands on enough sheet metal, I'm down to see how my version would turn out!😁
When you make yours, send me a video! I wish I would have done some control mpg tests before and after the skirts. That's something you could test. 👀
Hugely impressive. Gonna slap some of these on my ioniq
I can't lie. It looks really nice. I was looking for bigger wheels and your video popped up, We have the same car. I love my Batmobile.
Thank you! Nice! I actually love my prius too. I put 195's up front and it's better for sure. Way less slipping and better gripping. 😂 Nokian ONE's are what I got. Highly recommend.
11 outta 10 would recommend 🚗👌👌
Wish i seen this earlier
Great job!
Subbed :D
Thanks! 😄
That would also protect your tires in case someone swerves in your tires to prevent a blowout..
#battleprius
Lol nothing like a dragon ball Z disk flying straight at on the i95
How'd those hold up? Wondering what tape would be better? Butyl tape or maybe better to use a caulk of some sort or body filler and paint over? Seems like those corners that seem to typically rust can be integrated to be covered as well, whether rusted already or not?
I bought the expensive electrical tape and it holds up surprisingly well. Even doing 70+ through torrential downpours. The skirts themselves are great.
very cool. would love more vids on prius mods
Thanks! I actually just converted it to a lithium battery that's 3X the capacity. Didn't make much difference, but I'm considering slapping a video together anyway.
Sweet project! I'm looking to do something similar with my car. What gauge/composition is the sheet metal you used? How is it holding up?
Thanks! 26ga galvanized steel. They're holding up great! 0 issues.
I get 43mpg driving slow off the line with my 07 with 43psi in the tires. I do mostly city driving, maybe id do that if i did more highway driving id do that.
is good. now cover up the wheels with some moon discs and get a sharkfin instead of the antenna. Also do you need both outter mirrors and your rear seats?
😂 Rear seats don't weigh much at all in the prius, but I did have them out for a while. I thought about front wheel covers, but I'd rather have front brakes with the way I drive.
Can you update the MPG figures since the install?
I ask because I highly doubt there was a 43% gain in MPG from these mods alone.
Maybe 1mpg? I say in the video that bumping up the tire pressure made so much of a difference it would be hard to even notice what the skirts did.
Just for looks and id run them for high speed.
wish you could help me make one of these for my hyundai ioniq. im also in the pnw and skate too
I'm working on a project for my nephew currently, but I might be able to once I'm done. If I can, I'll hit you up. 🤙
@@Brandon_Makes_Stuff thanks. Mines also black lol
do you have to remove it to take your wheel off?
Yep. It's not bad.
I would think metal would be too heavy to make this worth it. Why not plastic sheet?
Sheet metal is light. Plastic sheet is harder to work with, harder to find, and equally or more espensive.
I like your work! Wanted to suggest instead of the electrical tape consider a type of caulking like this car builder does at 2 minutes 30 seconds in the following video....

Nice! Thanks!
