- Managing 110,000 Continuous Acres for TROPHY WHITETAIL | Wildlifers
On this episode, Mellon Creek guide, Hagen Watkins, discusses the management strategies the team has in places on the Mellon Creek Ranch. This ranch spans 110,000 acres and there's no shortage of Texas trophy bucks. Many of these management strategies discussed in this video have led to Boone and Crockett Class low-fence TROPHY whitetails harvested on the Mellon. This week clients are in camp looking for management class whitetails (MCO) and it doesn't take long for Hagen to get them a shot opportunity.

You guys have really healthy deer population with great management. I have never seen as many quality bucks in my life at one time as what I saw at Mellon Creek!
Thank you for watching Jeffrey! We enjoyed having you at the Mellon.
Just found the channel and subscribed immediately… keep the videos coming!
Thanks for subscribing!
We also manage a ranch not far from the Mellon. What do you think about those "red" Avery Island transplants that TPWD brought in back in the 40s? I realize they have since greatly intermixed with the native pop but the current bucks do show strong characters- redder coats, very small ears, bright white areas lower legs/throat patches etc.
We appreciate you watching! Thanks for the comment.
another great video did dan have a successful hunt in Colorado? I'm ready to come back to texas and hunt with yall again!! kenny from south carolina!!
Tune in next week for Dan’s Colorado deer hunt! Thanks for watching Kenny
