Klay has always been trash. He needed KD to win as well.
GSW offered him an extension, he declined it to have a prove it year, to bet on himself. . .He then had career low numbers across the board, lost his starting spot to a rookie, and no-showed in the biggest game of the year.

He was great coming off the bench. Wish he was comfortable with doing that. That was a great fit for him. He was getting open shots. Able to get separation against the second units. It worked for the team.

I’m usually with the player in terms of getting their money but in this particular case GSW paid Klay max contract dollars for 2 years and he didn’t play a second. So couple that with the fact that his play has diminished a bit he needs to give them a discount

Klays stats are misleading. Overall the decline doesnt look that dramatic, but he was very streaky last season. One game he will go 1-10 the next he will go 7-11. Not consistent enough.

Similar to Andre Iguodala, Klay deserves to do whatever he wants. As a Warrior fan that before the we believe era, we've seen the highs and lows of our dub nation and Klay got us 4 championships in 6 NBA finals. The man suffered an ACL injury, came back onto the court, shot his free throws and was still willing to play on that injury. Klay is at the tail end of his career and if he wants to get the full time starting gig or the maximum amount of money elsewhere, he has dub nation blessing. I would love for Klay to come back and retire as a Warrior but only if he takes a pay cut because we need to start thinking about upgrading our team to not only go back into the playoffs but get that 5th ring. Seeing Klay join the Knicks or even Dallas would be an exciting move because they need some elite shooters on that squad to support Brunson and Luka.
Klay refused a 48 mi, 2 year contract offered by Warriors. If something happens, it's on Klay and that's ok. He has the right to play where he wants and I'll root for him.

I think the biggest issue with Klay with the GSW right now is both salary space, as well as role in the team defensively.
Offensively speaking, his numbers were lower, but still acceptable. I agree
Defensively speaking, he cannot keep up with guards anymore, which is his default position. He can still defend fine against wing players as long as they are not too much taller. However, Warriors already has a lot of wing players so that puts him in a really awkward spot.
Since the owner really wants to get under even the soft cap for salary I don't really see this working out, unfortunately.
Klays stats is skewed because he shot lights out for couple of stretches of the season when Warriors had an easy schedule. Against good teams or crucual games Klay was a no show both on offence and defence.
I’ll tell where sh*t got f*cked up at, once GSW extended Draymond, Klay thought they’d hook him up too. When they didn’t I know for a fact he started comparing what his contributions were to Draymond and he saw more value in himself and wants the same thing.
It’s not a narrative that Klay is on the decline and does not deserve a max contract. He is only going to get worse and they don’t want to be on the hook for him the next 4-5 years at the max
