    Brittany you should not feel embarrassed about purchasing a condo, not many single women are capable of such a great accomplishment. I bought my first place when I was twenty one and I've never rented another place since. It was a fixer but I jumped in and learned how to do a few things to improve it. You will be thrilled when you do your taxes next year and get your mortgagee interest deduction too! If you can get yourself to a place where you can save for your next place but keep your last and rent it out , and can do that a few times, you will have a nice little nest egg when you are ready to retire!

    Sis you spoke a word on here!!! I think it’s a great idea to get a condo. People don’t understand the full effect of maintaining a home period and you never want to be House rich and cash poor. I can’t wait to see what you do cause if it’s anything like your fashion we’re in for a treat!!! Congratulations again!♥️

    Don't be embarrassed, why would you be? I bought my first home, and it was a garden style condo (never would I buy that style again), but I got sick of the noise, the HOA, and the. close neighbors and switched to a single family house, with no regrets. You have to do whatever is best for you and your lifestyle. If you don't want the extra work of a yard, and some outside repairs, the condo is the way to go, many are even 3 bedrooms now! Congrats on your home, I know this is an older video, but you should be so proud of yourself!

    I never knew there was a negative stigma for buying a condo. I always thought it was a wonderful choice for ppl who wanted to own but, without the extra stress that comes with a house.
    So happy you stepped out of yourself and accepted what God had for you 😊 a lot of ppl wouldn’t nor admit they needed to humble themselves! Many future blessings to you!!!! 💜

    Girl, you sound like me. I will soon be closing on my condo. My SFH fell through. My son will be a freshman and I prefer him to stay in his district. I never considered a condo. But, as you say God is in control. I’m a single mom, will be starting my Master’s this fall, working 2 jobs. I also asked my closing cost and got it. My mortgage with HOA dues is the amount I paid in my apartment. I sacrificed for 2 years, moved back with my parents and I’m 38. Trust God is in control, we just have to trust the process.

    Congrats doll! Great info. I really wanted a condo initially, but the condo fees here in the DC /Northern VA area are crazy (400-900 per month). I decided to increase my budget and get a Townhome. I just closed 60 days ago! I don't believe as a single woman, a single family home would have been the best move for me. Awesome, awesome video!

  • @charismaticchaney1273
    @charismaticchaney1273 6 лет назад +3

    My first purchase was a condo and I didn’t like it. It was mainly because I’m from the country in Texas and I am use to yard work and being outside putting in work into the house. The condo association fees were ridiculous....An extra $300 PER MONTH and all they did was upkeep the grass and pool. Those fees would increase each year as people moved out. I now own a single family home and I love it. It all depends on where you are purchasing your home. I finally moved back to Texas and made my purchase and I love it!!! It’s all about what you want!

    • @PocketsandBowsTV
      @PocketsandBowsTV  6 лет назад

      Very true! Most single family homes here have an association fee if they are in a subdivision, but the newer the home the less the fee.

      My advice is don't jump on the first thing you see and don't settle you will have some Realtors getting annoyed at all the houses you've looked at but that's when you remind them that it's your money on the line and your responsibilities financially and if they still give you attitude get rid of them and get another realtor trust me take ya time

    I had a cute little condo in Miami, FL it was 860 square feet, lived there for 9 years until I moved to central Florida last year. Got a buyer in 7 days. I redid the kitchen cabinets and the master bathroom. I changed all the light fixtures, painted and decorated to my hearts content. I absolutely loved it. I got many compliments and even the exterminator who sprayed the building said nobody’s apartment looked like mine. It was always so clean. Yes, I was single and tired of paying high rent for something I wasn’t going to own. Great video. Congratulations on your new home. I also love to decorate.

But I prayed, purchased and am so happy and blessed. It's an older building and I need cosmetic changes desperately. I just took my time and did one room at a time. I'm still here 17 yrs later. I am so proud of you, this is such a big accomplishment especially buying on your own. Nashville sounds like Oakland, CA right now. I completely understand feeling like your dream of buying a home in the city you were born and raised in would never come to fruition. Gentrification has completely made the market in Oakland unattainable for many of the city's natives. Somehow, i was able to purchase a single family home in this market 18 months ago. I, just like you, truly believe that Divine Intervention played a major part me finding my home and perfect lender. Unless other people are willing to pay your mortgage, the opinion of others does not matter. Congrats.

      Same problem here in the UK. Villages have become desirable to the London elite, they buy holiday homes out here and barely live in them, meanwhile we who were born in these villages are having to leave to find houses because we've been out priced. I'm pretty gutted I won't be living in my home village probably ever xx

    Hi, Brittany love ❤ your video. You made a lot of sense when you compared a single home cost -vs- a condo/townhouse cost. You're right there is a big difference in the amount to owning and maintaining the up keep of a house -vs- condo (or townhouse). A house you are totally responsible for the repairs, landscaping and other stuff. Whereas with a condo ( or townhouse) you pay a monthly fee for snow removal, grass cutting and trash clean-up. So, that's a plus if you're a single woman (or mom) and you don't have anyone to help you with those type tasks. And the amenities ( use of : pool, community room, park, playground, gym room, etc.) far out way paying for membership individually. It make sense to look at what options you have and which one will save you money in the long run. Great video loved it. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

      Brittany I PocketsandBowsTV I’m single too and at first I was looking for a house or townhouse and I was like wait a minute.. I don’t have kids or a man, lol. I rented a condo before and love all the amenities especially a doorman. So that’s what I want again. I’m going to have to rent just a little bit longer. Hopefully not to long I don’t have anyone to live with. I been on my own since I was 14 when my mom passed. I’m 38 now. I did have a fear of buying and being committed but just like you said.. I was throwing away money. This one condo I rented 1300 every month and had to move when my landlord decided to sell. I tried to buy it but it was toooooo overpriced! Wasn’t the right timing so I know God will bring me the right home. 😊 thank you, random question but are you a Libra or a cancer? I’m into astrology and it’s just what I’m picking up. I’m a cancer and tend to meet a lot of Libra’s. Lol

    I’ve always loved you and your channel but girl this....... this brought tears to my eyes and really touched me! On RUclips you see so many luxurious home tours and people who have huge homes but it’s so rare to get on here and see someone be real about their situation. The reality is most of us can’t afford the big luxury homes and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We’re made to believe something is wrong with us and we’re not doing something right if we don’t own a $300k home but you just broke the mold. At least for me. I’ve never seen someone be so real and transparent about their process. Even down to you admitting you considered what others would think girl you really blessed me with how you acknowledged what a blessing God has given you and you’re gonna celebrate it regardless of what anyone thinks. Brittany I don’t even know you and I am soooooo proud of you! I hardly ever leave comments on RUclips but girl I had to say something. Continue to allow God to use you because I can’t speak for anyone else but you’re definitely inspiring me!💗💗💗

    Congrats doll! I'm glad you're finding peace within the home buying process. It's been about 10 months since I purchased my town home and I'm just getting to that mental place where I'm realizing where God wants me to be is where I'll be. My mortgage is less than the apartment I was renting, and just like you said, you can never get that rental money back. Whereas when you're paying a mortgage, you're essentially living in your investment. You're paying for something you OWN. And don't feel bad about buying what some may consider an "apartment". You own that, boo boo. And it works for you! And if you decide one day it doesn't work for you, you can sell it and hopefully profit. You're not stuck. None of us are stuck. All is well. :-) xoxo

    My husband and I have been looking for our first single family home in a crazy sellers market in the greater Sacramento area. Offers keep being denied, we even tried one 15k over asking price. I have been praying so much- our apartment lease is running out of time. I told my realtor I want to give up- last night We found an apartment style condo that we love the layout etc we are viewing Friday , I never thought we would look at that style home. I started feeling so embarrassed if we loved it and got it... I found your video this morning and am feeling so blessed I did. Even if we don’t go that route: this is so inspiring! It makes so much sense and you’re not going to be “house poor” which is our goal! To still have $ to travel and live! I really felt the need to just tell you all of this which I never do on youtube haha! But seriously wanted to say thank you for making such an honest raw video!

    I needed to hear this...and admire your honesty. A lot of times we care too much about what other people think/may think (even if no one has verbally even expressed it to us lol) about a life, career or other decision. It’s important we do what’s best for us and what we can afford, whatever that may be.period. You don’t need to be sitting up in a big house, house poor crossing your fingers nothing breaks and be struggling, just to impress people you don’t know or who don’t matter...it’s your life and your coin and it’s also good to do what works for right now, who knows what the future holds, financially or otherwise. I’m so excited for you!

    It's sad to say, but true. It used to be against the law to sell a house to a female. Those days are over with, long gone. It's no longer illegal for a woman to buy a house, and females don't need a husband or a male family member to get a house anymore.

I am a young, single female, and I am so grateful I stumbled across your video at this time in my life. Your journey really spoke to me, and it made me realize there is power in waiting for the right home. I started out the exact same way--I wanted a townhome, wood floors, a natural setting, and garage. I jumped to make offers on a few condos because the good options wouldn't last more than two days, but they just didn't feel right and I'm grateful now that I was outbid by cash offers at full price. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm so happy you found the perfect home!

IN this video you spoke a word that I truly can relate to I have been through the exact same thing as far as being in perfect alignment with the will of God. When you are in perfect alignment with his will whatever your setting out to do will be done effortlessly, no stumbling blocks no bumps, no wrong turns. Everything will just flow, when that happens you know that your move is ordained by God himself and he is providing you with the best of the best. So I thank God for you being obedient you being faithful you maintaining your prayer life and listening to what God is saying to you and how he's directing you because that is how it goes. When you have issues and you find yourself struggling to try to do things that you want to do, should be a red flag that maybe this is not for me and maybe I need to step back and listen and wait for my clearance to move in another Direction
