I love South Africa, i sing the anthem like i am South African, i know every single word and i have only visited this country twice. Camps Bay, Cape Town in my opinion is the best place in the world to live. Fantastic country greatly blessed by God. Back soon for that lovely bunnychow I had while in Durban. Love from Nigeria, God bless Africa, God bless both our countries.

Being from South Africa myself , we moved to New Zealand in 1999, my two daughters were both born in SA , and both lost their accents , but both can still remember home ,I still have the accent , and am still proud to be South African . The anthem still brings a lump to my throat .

Although I'm an Indian, I find South African anthem the most harmonious and heart-warming of all the national anthems I've heard in my entire existence! Love your wonderful diversity, the way you people strive hard to take your country forward in every aspect irrespective of the ethnic and religious backgrounds is worth admiring! God bless South Africa!
There're loads of people in South Africa who hail their roots from India, have Indian ancestry. There're Whites who brought development and introduced mandatory Education in the country. Notwithstanding the apartheid phase which made the lives of many people miserable, there're helluva lot of good things which were brought to the Southern African country by the Whites. Had there not been whites, there wouldn't be good roads and top-class infrastructure in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria, Centurion and in lots of other cities and provinces of South Africa. So they should be given credit for these things.
There're blacks who're bringing laurels and pride to your nation in many fields. After South Africa attained independence in 1994, Blacks have become an active part in shaping the South African economy and have played a major role in making South Africa one of the most progressive and developed countries in the African continent.
Then there're Coloureds who are best known for producing one of the best sporting talents going around in the world. They've become a contributive factor in the field of sports.
To sum it up, everyone has played their part in making South Africa a place worth living in today. Again, some might argue that the crime rate in the country has cropped up and people are leaving this beautiful country and settling in the other developed countries for better future. But we should see the facts of existence from other side of the mirror. The country has really prospered, you've got a thriving business sector and world-class infrastructure. The Quota system is detrimental to the meritorious system of your country, and this is the only thing which could affect the progress of your country in the long run.
    Love from India
    🇮🇳❤🇿🇦

Every word of the English is loaded with symbolism. Come together (after singing all languages), united (everyone has the same worth), strive from freedom (not shackled in ignorance like apartheid times), our land. I enjoy this a lot.

    • @tyleroakley7308

Multazimah There's a difference between in living in the past and simply remembering our past. It's not that I want to leave the past but we can take what we learn from it. Am I living in the past or you just want the the significant meaning of those verses in the original South African anthem to be a thing of the past? Words with positive meaning which can hold sway for all times. Besides, 'Nikole Silele Afrika' was also an anthem of and from the past. It represents Afrika particularly Transkei from 1974. Just because its 2016, must everything of the past should be erased or forgotten like as though it has not happened? You just want the future to be devoid of any memory or knowledge from the past, is it?

I am German and I think it's one of the most amazing national anthems! The five mostly spoken languages put together in one song - I hope that one day they stand united and live and strive for freedom and peace in South Africa, their land! Best wishes from Germany!
English lyrics: "God bless Africa! May her dignity be lifted up! Hear our prayers, Lord! Bless us, your children/family! Lord, protect our nation, banish all wars and hardships! Protect it, this nation of ours, the nation of South Africa! From the blue of our heavens, from the depths of our sea over our eternal mountains where the cliffs give answer sounds the call to come together and united we shall stand! Let us live and strive for freedom in South Africa, our land!"

One country in 11 languages, commonly understood all over the world.......is there any other country that can say that? The anthems are stunning.....what is even better is the people that sings it. And yes, it makes the earth tremble and the skies roar!! And yes, it gives you shivers down your spine.....goose bumps all over and your blood fizz through your veins. As Kipling said....it's our South Africa and we love her.

I find it as amusing everytime... Swedish is my native language, and thanks to that I understand Afrikaans fairly well. It came as a surprise to me when we watched this South African movie in class (when I was an 8th or 9th grader) called Tsotsi. I was surprised of how much I actually understood by simply listening to what they were saying instead of reading the subtitles, lol.
What adds to it... when spoken, Swedish and Afrikaans (or Dutch for that matter) are not that much alike - but somehow they still are. Confusing, eh?

skrivbok yeah is confusing is like English language have same family of German Sweden language and orthers Germanic language but English Sweden language and German language is not alike this language only have fews world with same meaning or similarity is because this language is descendants of proto German language is very complex is like Spanish and Portuguese my native language is similar language with same family Latino language family of this languages come from Latin language!!!!

This is so beautiful. I'm terrified to read the comments, because the Internet, and I'm sure some people will look at this and just use it as an excuse to vent whatever -ism holds their heart bondage. But it's truly awe-inspiring: folks of all races coming together to passionately sing a song in four languages of people who were all once enemies. May we all learn from them. And may God bless South Africa!

Very Moving. I hope the country lives up to the aspirations expressed in the anthem.
