I strongly believe it would be best to have the League of Women Voters - a neutral organization - conduct the questioning during presidential debates. In recent years (decades actually) too often we see "news anchors" or "commentators" from the networks pitching the questions. They are hardly neutral and strive for those "gotcha" moments that can further their own careers. The whole event is meant to drive ratings rather than be truly informative.

I’ve gone into Schadenfreude overdrive. A couple of weeks ago we were staring down the barrel of a frail octogenarian who wouldn’t step aside and had publicly performed very poorly in a debate with a petulant narcissist. Said narcissist gets shot and his profile is boosted. Joe still wasn’t stepping down and we were looking at a very disturbing outcome in November. Trump then overplays his hand and announces an entirely inappropriate running mate who’d publicly decried him in the past. Then Joe does the right thing and steps aside, the candidate put forward is attractive, intelligent, articulate, capable and professional….and as of writing, still hasn’t played her full hand and has yet to announce a (no doubt) wholly appropriate running mate. This is checkmate stuff, all happening in such a short period of time. I’ve gone from deep concern over Nov 5th to really high expectations in Godspeed fashion. Just knowing that this will be a shit-show of epic proportions for that idiot and his “team” is immensely satisfying. In most states the Governor appoints replacement Senator, different rules for different states. I’ve gone into Schadenfreude overdrive.
A couple of weeks ago we were staring down the barrel of a frail octogenarian who wouldn’t step aside and had publicly performed very poorly in a debate with a petulant narcissist.
Said narcissist gets shot and his profile is boosted. Joe still wasn’t stepping down and we were looking at a very disturbing outcome in November.
Trump then overplays his hand and announces an entirely inappropriate running mate who’d publicly decried him in the past.
Then Joe does the right thing and steps aside, the candidate put forward is attractive, intelligent, articulate, capable and professional….and as of writing, still hasn’t played her full hand and has yet to announce a (no doubt) wholly appropriate running mate.
This is checkmate stuff, all happening in such a short period of time. I’ve gone from deep concern over Nov 5th to really high expectations in Godspeed fashion.
Just knowing that this will be a shit-show of epic proportions for that idiot and his “team” is immensely satisfying. Schadenfreude is something I try not to indulge in as an adult, it’s not becoming and kinda immature…. but I’m making an exception here.

In most states the Governor appoints replacement Senator, different rules for different states. In AZ the replacement MUST be from the same party, plus the governor is a Dem, so will likely pick a Dem similar to Kelly
