Yeah, you really have to zoom in fully to see flaws. Hopefully one day there will be another game in the series - I'm sure it would be jaw-dropping.

We'll have to see about whether there will be patching.
As for balance, it's very good overall. You can generally win with anything.
The balance problems happen on small maps, where Orcs are very weak, and Dwarves/Elves/Trolls overperform.
On large 4 player maps, Orcs overperform. That's it really!
I don't get how ( without the Balance mod ) you don't rush your oponent with Humans they have the Best Bais Infanterie stets and arbalests , I mean elfs literally have no way to caunter that
Bear in mind that Guardians have much faster attack speeds than Infantrymen. So in effect, it's a pretty even matchup and Humans can't just push into Elves. Whatever numerical advantage Humans can get via cheaper costs, the Elves make up for with stronger AoE abilities on the heroes.
