When I was six back in 1971, a friend of mine around the corner, his parents had two (one white and one black) 1961 Lincoln Continentals that they still drove at the time!

This was when Lincoln was a true luxury automobile, and nothing today even comes close to the Lincoln's of the past, Everything on the road today is a copy from some other company to the point if you don't see the name they all are the same.

I was only 12 when this commercial came out. I always wanted my dad to get one of these but he never did. I now have a 2020 Continental of my own but I'd love to have had the opportunity to buy one of these. The classiest car on the road at that time

The first car I grew up in was a '65 (but, ohhh, how a wanted a '66 or '67,) yet I never knew that that year introduced the front-disc brakes... Now I know why my Dad wanted that model - besides the better-looking grill - after the '61 to '64...

Wow! Absolutely fabulous!! Even better than the 1961 commercial I found. Hope you have other early '60s Lincoln films in your collection to post.

That's a long commercial, but i like it! ❤ And after a long trip, you could lay down and sleep in the back. Try that with a modern car!

The opening to this commercial sounds like the opening NBC used to present their shows in "Living Color" back in the mid to late 1960's.

Back in the 60's, styling changed so quickly that by 1965, the Lincoln was becoming a bit dated as it was still using the basic 1961 body, which had been a quantum leap in its time . . . far more advanced than the 1960 Lincoln. Still, things changed fast back then. Also, Cadillac (late 50's early 60's), had fallen behind Lincoln on styling, but was making major body style changes every two years. 1966 would be the next new body for Lincoln--another clean, well styled car, but again, by 1969, even that body style was getting dated. Hence, the next big change for Lincoln was in 1970.

Wish I could be young, very rich, intelligent, good looking, healthy, happy, attractive to women and in possession of a fully functional TARDIS. I'm sure the USA in 1965 (with all the above) would be the best existence in the entire universe)

Such a beautiful auto. If you think about it cars were just invented in 1900. In 63 years they came such along way. Only fuel injectors could have improved it.

No they went for $10,000 dollars back in 1956 twice as much for a Cadillac went for could buy a house for $10,000 back then that was a lot of money in 1956

@@nathandalke9318 Ah, you're referring to the most exceptional Continental Mark II of 1956 and '57. It was also the product of an entirely separate division of the Ford Motor Company which only lasted through 1958. Whereas the top-line Lincoln for '56--the Premiere--listed for $4600. Still a hefty chunk of change then.
