  • Brent explains moldings and shows how shapes define purpose. For instance, a bed mold is shaped to support. It is not a finishing molding. Confused? Come check it out.

Brent's final word: "I'm afraid I'm causing you to drink from a firehose now...." now that's some Clint Eastwood level talk there LOL!

After watching this video I can only cringe at the state of molding in our house which I am partially responsible for. There is so much history and thought I didn't (don't) know about how to properly do this stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Love the content and appreciate the detailed photos and drawings edited in where the original slides might not be legible in the video footage. One suggestion might be to not have the background border around the image moving as it is distracting and makes it hard to focus on the helpful illustration. Personally it gives me a bit of vertigo.

I'm confused, this video on molding sizes is totally at odds with one of your latest videso I just watched... "Never use carved brackets" (16th Oct. 2024) ...in that vid you say only very large moldings are available commercially... in this vid you say the opposite ?...
I only recently found your channel and will be trawling through the archives (slowly) in an effort to learn more about this fascinating subject...

Thanks, what I meant to convey is that the crown moldings are too large and the casings are too small. Casings should start at around 4" in width. Let me know what you find.

When the camera cuts to brent we cant tell what he is pointing to. The whole message is lost without seeing his pointer finger!
