I appreciate the work ethic and professionalism with which you approach your work. It sets a good example for all the crew - not just the engine room crew. Your company is fortunate to have you looking after their vessels. You clearly appreciate the unique opportunities you enjoy as a seafarer, a leader and as a chief engineer. Thanks for the additional work you put in to produce these lovely films so we can share that experience.
Hello Chief !!! Your videos were inspiring to the viewers who want to continue unique life carrier job especially I mean for seafarer as our job revealing daily activities is rare to see for those who are from land side . Thks for revealing our life style as video clips across the public and I started to subscribe your channel last 5 months ago , plus your videos that I downloaded are also interesting among my family and they also love it . Be safe contract Chief !!!
Ang ganda talaga nang video mo sir. No.1 fan here... Pag nka kuha na aqng nang RME license gusto q rin mag seaman someday... Godbless you sir. And more educating video's
Another outstanding video Chief! Insightful, concise and captures the feeling of always catching-up with the calendar & key events schedule. I am counting the days for you when the crew are finally off the blocks, and punching holes in the sea again. It’s a man’s life at sea. Carry on!
Excellent video Chief. Incredible how complex ships are. One of my takeaways here is: I need some more fire extinguishers for my truck and around the house! Thanks sir.
Watching your team go through the tour and training remind me of my time in the Military, whenever we went on Temporary Duty assignments we always had.Tour/briefing of our locations, including all of security, Safety, and policies and procedures Hopefully all will go well as you get your ship ready for sea.
Thanks for these videos, Ive been in the process of transferring my tickets to Marine Engineering, I will have the results this week, and your videos have been a great help.
I hated dry docking , the ship felt trapped somehow , no motion or vibration when on shore power apart from the sanny pumps which sounded really loud. you had to watch out for the dockies also,if your gear wasnt secured it would go walkies ! was always amazed at the sheer amount of wildlife that you dug out when cleaning ballast tanks, some crabs must have been in there for a while as they were far too big to get through the valves! Hurry up and wait from the office was a pain, "got to catch that tide" then you get sent to anchor for days....Miss the life tho. Stay safe chiefy. silly quiz for anyone interested; 1/ Which part of the ship travels the longest distance ? 2/ What goes from forrard to aft on one side of the ship and aft to forrard on the other ? 3/How many chief engineers does it take to change a light bulb ? 😁😁😁🙃⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓🚢
You have one my favorite channels. Thanks for the effort you put into sharing life at sea with us. I hope it's as satisfying for you as it is for us, your audience.
Good to you see you heading back to sea. Looking forward to seeing more of your vlogs. Absolutely love them and your stories of seafaring life. One of the items on my "bucket list" is to travel around the world by freighter. Someday when I retire. All the best to you from San Diego, California.
When I was searching some educational video related to my study, suddenly saw your new upload video and I took time to watch for it because it's really interesting . More videos Chief 😊💓
Chief, I am from India and presently working in Kuwait (O&G field).once a time it was my dream to join merchant Navy but unfortunately it couldn't happen. But whenever I watch your vlogs it feels like I am also a part of it. 🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Im from iran Neighbor of Turkey ، We are close now :) I hope one day I can see you and talk about how much I love this job. Unfortunately, this is not possible here . My dream is to work with someone like you .
I enjoy your videos very much, you have a great style and organization to them! I have always been interested in ships, and I love the design and technology that go into them.
I subscribed a couple of days ago because I found your channel and work to be very interesting. You explain things really well and I have learned quite a lot from your channel. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
Sana all nakasampa na. I'm almost 10 mos now on vacation. Di alam kung kelan ulit makakabalik sa trabaho sa barko. Palaging cancel ang alis. Araw araw umaasa ng magandang balita mula sa opisina. But anyway staysafe sir chief. Godbless.
Out of all my subscriptions, yours is the first one I watch! So looking forward to this. Love your new intro logo, it's very sharp looking. Welcome back!!!
I did a few drydocks (about 10) as corporate IT for a cruise company, they are all very interesting and very demanding because we always had a very limited time to complete all the jobs. Judging by the images, your ship will also receive a new silicon painting. Take care Chief!
Good day Chief dyan rin kami nag dry dock sa ART Shipyard last 17-29 July 2020. Hindi natanggal ng shipyard ang mga bolts ng intermediate & propeller shaft dahil mag retrofit sa stern tube system. C/E Sta. Elena, R.
Wow Chief Makoi that's a hell of interesting infos & sharing of what's really inside ur ship. Thx for sharing & looking forward to ur upcoming vids, hopefully you'll do some lives too. Totally mesmerising. Ty💕
Very well explained chief makoi and yes all crew must go under familiarisation during there first 24 hours of joining. Same here in cruise ship they must complete all the induction trainings and familiarisation training on the first day and next days as per scheduled. And your content is very useful and inspiring. I hope my vlogging will improve in the future.
Haha, we just docked out, and straight into, DP trials, class survey, and Ovid, glad that it's finally over.. So much running 🤣. Good luck on the Docking, and hopefully no problems arise.
Hi Chief, another masterpiece, well done. Maybe someday you can discuss also topics regarding: 1. PMS - Planned Maintenance System - that covers Maintenance, Purchasing, Stock Control/Inventory / 2. Periodic and Statutory Surveys / 3. Ship's internal and mandatory documents / 4. Statutory Certificates. - mukang marami rami yan bmate, Keep it up, more power and keep safe bmate.
One of your best ! A word of caution about flying drones in at least in American ports. They are no drone flying zones and may be shot down. If they are near American warships and or bases.
Chief Makoi, thank-you very much for the interesting videos. And all the trouble you go to, to share this with us. May I ask a few questions here ? At 4:11, is there power on that cable? And if there is, what is stopping it from being pulled out "live" from the DB. If there is power, is this left open all the time? At 4:30, the cable does not have any load sheath spreaders? Or separate line hanger's. And 4:35? That is a fair weight if it is armoured. Don't you have a heavy duty socket connection box with a built in isolator? And cross switch box? I don't in any way want to tell you how to do things on your ship. So as I am not sure, I am going to ask. Kind regards and greetings from Africa.
Some vessels have a shore supply cable ovftheir own. But mostly it comes from the yard. Yard electrician, together with the engine room staff connects the shore supply when the ship is dead in the dry dock. Whilst waiting for the power to come back, it is thé opportunity for the engineers to walk through the silent engine room and listen to small (air) leakages, which can be addressed later.
Hey Chief, I know this episode is older, but I'm doing some catching up. I have seen several episodes after this one. I just wanted you to know that your profession is very interesting. So with that, Thank You !!! I hope to meet you someday.
Howzit Chief!?! Another Typically Outstanding Video presentation of your availability at the drydock facility in Turkey. You May or may not feel like it, but those observing can in just a short time know that you are a natural leader. As your subordinates were climbing on equipment in order to see and hear your presentation. It's looking like you have another dedicated crew! How long is this yard period sked for? Has CV-19 caused your availability to be extended? Well Sir. It's well past 2230S. So I will reel this txt in. Take Care, And Stay SAFE!..
Hi Chief stay safe and stay away from the US,very bad there atm especially Florida is worse,I love watching your videos and here in Australia the pandemic is not so bad. I’m in Newcastle a port city hope u get here one day would be honoured to meet you . Looking forward to the next instalment Chief roll tide

Doing great love from india i am also part of this company als cleared the interview but some shit corona not got chance to go on vessel but it's my dream to meet you soon.. On vessel let's see when dream come true..
Ask a former sailor I understood every part of the ship familiarization and safety procedures except for the CO2 room. Please explain what its function does. Another fascinating video, and in my experience even dry dock has its own set of funny/dangerous stories.
It's the last resort for fire fighting in the engine room. It will flood the ER with CO2 to smother the fire. It replaced the Halon system a few decades back.
I appreciate the work ethic and professionalism with which you approach your work. It sets a good example for all the crew - not just the engine room crew. CO2 room? What is the purpose of that? I don't imagine it's for carbonating beverages, but also can't imagine what it would be used for

Fire fighting.

Question: When you or crewmates of your ship are overdue to be relieved are you paid in some form of overtime? Enjoy your videos by the way!
That is a good question.
It was stated in an earlier video that most companies do not give overtime, and certainly not his.
