      Yeah man… that was a super tough old bull. In true warrior fashion, he just stood there and took the beating. It’s unfortunate sometimes to have to see that from those older, tougher animals. But Trevor stuck with it and put him down for the count with the final shot.

    I always watch hunting vids from last year as I prep for the coming season. This one was a dandy and these hunters obviously practiced, knew their strategy and worked extremely hard to get to such a moment.
    I read some of these comments and it’s very complexing some of the negative stuff. I don’t normally see this from the hunting community unless someone isn’t wearing orange or some grave mistake. I think we all forget how hard it is to be at this level these hunters are with equipment, planning, strategy and practice to make a shot. I don’t see comments like this on Randy Newberg or others. Crazy! I hope hunting doesn’t turn woke or critical. We should be happy for one another, support the sport, way of life and others being vulnerable enough to “show” their hunts. Ha! I’d get laughed at if I shared mine! These are great!

    • @BMCBryce
      @BMCBryce  2 года назад +2

      Man… that was so refreshing. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy reading well thought out, clearly articulated and intelligent comments like yours. The world we live in now loves to shame people. No matter what we do or how we do it, we will likely face criticism. The more we “put” ourselves out there, the more we will receive. I personally don’t mind the negativity… most of the time. And I almost always just delete and ignore. But sometimes, I have to respond and let people know that they are incorrect.
      Anyway… thank you for the kind words. Means a lot. Take care and God bless.

    Great video guys thanks for sharing!!! What's your opinion on the 150 ELDX on Elk now that you've harvested one with them? I can't decide to use those or 154 InterBond on elk. TIA

    • @BMCBryce
      @BMCBryce  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Chad. I think the heavier the bullet the better - for elk. Within reason of course. But if you’re looking at those two, I might suggest going with the heavier of the two.
      I just bought a 300 Win Mag. I am sticking with the ELDX because I think they do amazing things. But I’ll be shooting either the 200gr or the 212gr ELDX with that rifle. So that will really help when shooting bulls.
      Anyway, take care and thanks.

      @@BMCBryce Arent those the bullets (hornady eldx) that seperate on impact with poor penetration?

    • @BMCBryce
      @BMCBryce  2 года назад +1

      That has not been my experience. I have been fortunate enough to have harvested 6 mule deer and 1 cow elk with the 143 ELDX with my 6.5 PRC. I have only seen good/great things from that bullet. So I’ll continue to use it.
      The bull killed in this video was shot with the ELDX as well, he just happened to be one of the toughest animals on God’s green earth.

    • @Longtrailside
      @Longtrailside 2 года назад

      @@BMCBryce I must be thinking of another hornady bullet. Ya i agree the 7mm has the horsepower to take any elk. That one was tough. I also just got a 300wm, and am trying some rounds out with it. Since covid i cant get what i want, but i did get some decent ones. Federal terminal ascent looks really promising. Federal fusion has gotten good reviews by other hunters that have used them, and the old stanby partitions. My favorite is the barnes ttsx, lrx. Wicked rounds they are. Used a 168g out of a 308 and dumped it hard with full passthru of both shoulders, thru the heart. Want to try nosler e-tip, and accubonds. Their all decent, but will go with the most accurate one for hunting.

    • @BMCBryce
      @BMCBryce  2 года назад

      Thanks man. It was an incredible hunt for sure. Trevor’s bull was killed right at 7800 feet. The wind was super challenging for us to read in that situation. Where we shot from, the was no wind. Where the bull was, also no wind. The cross canyon wind however, was stronger than we were able to detect. But Trevor was confident and made it happen. His bull was a tough old sucker and soaked up some serious energy with those impacts.

    • @BMCBryce

      I don’t think that is how it broke off. In the video before the shot was taken, you can see the main beam is already shorter and broken. Plus, it wasn’t a fresh break when we got to him. I’m guessing it was from fighting back when the bull was rutting.

    • @BMCBryce
      @BMCBryce  2 года назад +1

      Actually, you’re right. Not one of them passed through the bull. They did massive amounts of damage though. The bull absorbed every one of the foot pounds of energy from each shot.
      I have considered the same thing about that bullet. Ultimately, my thoughts are that a heavier bullet (178 gr plus) in ELDX is needed for hunting elk.

      That’s absolutely brilliant Dale Hope… you’re suggesting that if anyone that hunts, can’t kill their quarry with one shot, they should not hunt. Yup. You’re the winner.
      How stupid. Get real man. All shots hit the bull. Each of the them were absolutely fatal shots. You’re either not very observant or not very bright if you can’t see that. Elk are incredibly tough animals and among elk, some have a stronger will to survive than others. Everyone that has ever hunted has taken shots and missed. Anyone that might hunt will do the same. I’ve missed, you’ve missed, we’ve all missed. It happens and is very much a part of hunting. Yet, that’s why your comment is so absurd… Trevor didn’t even miss.
      “Choose another sport” How ignorant and oblivious can one person be?!
      My advice is: try harder at coming up with a comment that makes sense or better yet… turn it off and watch something you’re more familiar with - whatever that might be.

    • @BMCBryce

      Isn’t it fascinating that you think you know everything? I find it remarkable how quickly you can come to such profound conclusions without having been there, knowing the distance, the gun, cartridge, bullet weight, the elevation, the wind, the shooters ability, his practice, his experience… I could go on and on. Yet, somehow in your own mind have got everything figured out. Good for you. All I can say is you are wrong. Trevor was NOT under gunned. He was shooting a 7MM REM mag. You have also failed to realize how tough some elk are. This particular bull stood on his feet despite having two bullets rip through his heart. While neither of us wants to see any animal suffer, some animals have a stronger will to live than others. My biggest problem with your comment however, is that you assume too much when you know nothing. Go be the ethics police somewhere else… where it’s actually needed. Your condescending remarks are not warranted here especially from one “hunter” to another. If you are in fact a hunter, why would you spend your time attacking other hunters - that you can very clearly see are doing their best to legally take an animal as quickly and as painlessly as possible, care for the meat, and respect the land…?
      My advice to you would be to calm down and troll elsewhere.

      @@BMCBryce 438 yds is long range? I’ve been a long range guy for over 35 years now I guess. I killed a cow elk on the 5th shot, in the neck at 160 yds shooting 180 gr PSP. The first 4 shots were fit insides a Pringles lid (lungs). She stood after the first shot. Shots 2,3 & 4 were sent as she continued to stand in her bed. Shot 5, I put in the ‘high shoulder’ height but in the neck. Lights out. Several slugs were recovered on the opposite side. Elk are tough critters. I’ll continue to be a “long range” hunter/shooter. Nice job on taking a great bull that was completely unaware of your presence. That’s what the 438 yd shot gives you; undisturbed, calm animals. 👍🏻

      Doubtful. It takes a lot of points to draw that tag and there isn’t an easy way in there. But yes, I was aware that I gave it away. I went above and beyond to do just that. God bless anyone that thinks it’s going to be easy to stroll in there find a big bull and then pack that bull elk out.
      Thanks for the heads up though Chuck, I do appreciate it. If it had been a concern, I wouldn’t have included the skyline shots.

The first shot was a little low and back, but adjustments were made and all other shots were absolutely on target and lethal. Settle down man. Maybe don’t jump to conclusions and certainly don’t accuse others of things that you very clearly don’t know. No lies were told. Don’t be dumb.

Odd comment, for those who get out there, do the hard work and practice, I think they can appreciate everything it takes to do this, shoot at this level and be willing to film and share it. If you aren’t in the arena getting out there and doing the same, ha, it’s easy to make comments like this. Hats off to these fellers and thanks for being willing to share it with us.

      @BMCBryce  2 года назад

      James. You certainly are entitled to your opinion. That is fair, but keep in mind, it’s just that - your opinion. Just because you feel that way doesn’t mean anyone else does. The strange thing is, if you don’t like hunting on RUclips, why in the world are you watching hunting videos on RUclips? That makes zero sense. I was going to point out that we all can participate or choose not to participate in things that we don’t like or enjoy. It’s still very much up to you to click and watch or turn it off.
      The other thing I feel needs to be pointed out… at no point was there any boasting or boastful behavior during this hunt or video. To celebrate an achievement or event or even a personal milestone is well within the bounds of being respectful. The hours of hard work and dedication behind the scenes are not as easily shown in a hunting video. Trevor and I celebrated this kill as a monumental achievement. As a culmination of the entire process and as a pure source of protein for family and friends. I still struggle with what you said about it not being a good look for hunters. The truth is, I do NOT care what non hunters think of me and my approach to life. I do not need their permission or approval for anything I do. I am unapologetically living the live that I have chosen to live.
      I’ve never understood the need for those that don’t like things (in this case a particular hunting video on RUclips) - to stick around, watch and even go as far as making absurd comments. It’s absolutely bonkers to me. If there is something that I strongly disagree with, there’s no way in Hell you’d catch me watching a RUclips video about it.

      Nothing unethical shown in this video. Quality shot placement on a great bull. Anti hunters will never care how ethical or unethical it is, they will never be pleased. So, as long as it’s a good ethical hunt like this, share it with everyone who will enjoy.
