선생님 do you think there is a word that is more preferable toward your listener 고맙습니다 vs 감사합니다?

In older days, people used 감사합니다 as the formal and polite option: however, nowadays, there is more effort to use the native word and say 고맙습니다 as the formal one. Out of habit, adults may be more used to 감사합니다 even if the two are equally formal and polite. ☺️
