@@johnsmith-jl7xi does he really? I never would have thought. Ive watched his playing for decades never noticed. I do know malmsteen anchors his pinky. Although i dont think he always does it.
I found this video on the recommendation of another video and this seriously made it easier to to be more accurate when picking singles strings! I’m learning adams song by blink 182 and I was having the problem of missing strings or skipping. Thank you so much for this!!! I never even thought about anchoring my hand I was always letting it float. Thank you so much!!!!
It's called the pisiform bone. (No kidding. Sounds like a joke name but it's not.) My instinct is to want to anchor on the other side of the wrist (what's called "upward escape motion") but that makes it hard for me to mute. Nobody knows the picking troubles I've seen...
This is great. Thanks. Very useful. I've spent the past few weeks searching for lessons on RH picking. My technique was not good. Mostly floating + pinky. I was missing notes all the time. Adding this anchoring helps so much.
This is something no one on youtube has ever taught considering how important it is. thank you sir
This was very helpful! Thank you.
Good tips. Thank you. Quite often when I’m picking fast the pick will miss the string altogether. I’m sure it’s because of poor anchoring.
why is the saddle on every guitar so uncomfortable as possible? why isn‘t there a nice resting point on every guitar?
Can i rest my fingers on body while playing
This is a mistake I'm trying to overcome.
@@manojperumarath8217 but I can see great legends like slash is resting his fingers while playing bro
@@Maramyes I rest my hand on bridge while playing electric, but anchor my middle finger and pinky on acoustic.
So it's not a mistake, because lot of legends are playing like that@@manojperumarath8217
Im still using my pinky to anchor and it's embarrassing that I still do this.
John Petrucci does it.
