  • Let us show you the reenactment video of a fire caused by wiring devices such as a power strip.
    [Explanation of the video]
Each individual wiring device such as a power strip has its own power rating. The power rating of a wiring device is the allowable total maximum power drawn by all attached appliances through it, and it is clearly described in the label of the device, such as “maximum 1500W.”
When an excessive electric load is added to a power strip past its rating, there is a risk of overheat and the strip catching fire in the socket unit or in the cord.
Also, the power rating of a wiring device is determined based on the cord being laid straight during use. If a power cord is bundled, winded, or tied in a knot, the heat generated by current cannot be diffused effectively, and the heat may melt the cord coating (vinyl coated cable) in the worst case, which results in a short circuit between wires, sparks, and a fire.
    [To prevent a fire]
The total maximum power consumption of all electric appliances attached to a wire device should not exceed its power rating. When using an extension power cord, do not bundle or wind it.
