    This amp has become my favorite I own. You always hear about it’s use with metal musicians, but it can do so much more than that. Fantastic amp!

    I love this AMP!! I have had it for about a year.

    This may sound cheesy, but you literally changed my life at 3:00 with the gain all the way up. I never thought to open that far, and on the cleaning setting, it's not clean anymore, just a great rock tone.
    I'm not a fan of how the crunch channel volume is lower than the clean, so if I'm in a song with no clean part, I'll play it at 3 o'clock or full. It sounds soooo good. Thank you!

      You just made my morning!!! I miss that little amp, now I only have two solid states, a Blackstar ID30TVP and a ID15TVP.

    If you were to play loud enough to gig In the clean setting, does it break up or stay clean until you engage the crunch. I like playing at home, but If I am playing out, will it stay clean or break up. I know it does heavy but does it stay clean at 20 watts? Thanks. you said you have the Classic as well. Is that a better clean option? That does not have the same distortion notion though.

      +michael miller The Classic 20 has a Straight clean channel, just a volume knob, no gain on clean, it would be better for pure clean cleans.
      The 6505MH I have not played that loud, I am sure if you switched it to 20w setting, kept the gain low and cranked the master volume it would stay fairly clean, but it's strong point is a gritty clean.
      I also have the EVH 5150 III 50w head, that will do a clean clean and loud.

    This amp....billed as a high gain heavy metal shredder - such a great tone for rock and blues. This will go down as an under rated amp by being compared to its big brother, or miss used in shootouts with other "lunchbox" amps. With all heads, the cabinet is critical. A shootout usually has all heads going through the same cabinet/speakers. I run it through a 2x12 with a Vintage 30 and a Greenback.

      hey. what cab size would be good for a 6505mh. a 1x12 or 2x12 cab?

    • @selfsupremacy7816
      @selfsupremacy7816 4 года назад

      @@evanjohnlee2901 i use it with a 2x12 cab from harley benton with vintage celestion speakers and it crushes everything and is also good for blues and rock

    Looking to pick up this combo, the sound is really nice. Was originally thinking the Orange Micro Dark due to price, but wow. Are you running any pedals with this?

  • @domplaysguitar1
    @domplaysguitar1 9 лет назад

    Hey man, great tones! I am thinking of getting the same rig... Quick question for ya, how does the orange cab your using work with other "less gainy" amplifiers like an orange micro terror?

    • @howardg1524
      @howardg1524  9 лет назад

      +Dominic Valenti(H.A.M.) Thanks, my only amps are a Peavey Classic 20 MH, 6505 MH, and EVH 5150 III 50w, all fairly high gain amps. The Cabinet sounds great when I play clean or at mild gain, I would say yes, this cab will work with anything. The Vintage 30 Speaker does not color your tone, your amp will sound like your amp. I also have a cheapo 1x10 Randall cab, the orange sounds 100x better for only 3 times the price.

      +Howard G okay, thanks for the feedback! Also, in your opinion, does the 1x12 speaker give enough bass and low end in its tonality?

    • @howardg1524
      @howardg1524  9 лет назад

      +Dominic Valenti(H.A.M.) The Orange PPC112 does, most other 1x12s don't.

      Thanks. I am pretty much a one trick pony as far as playing goes, but it is a decent trick, lol. I still can't do a decent triplet to save my life.

    are there any issues running this 8 ohm head into the 16 ohm orange cab?

    • @howardg1524

      I believe the amp has a switch to change from 8 to 16

      all 3, but mostly 5w

    • @waterwoodguitars6871

      Only overheating I’ve had was in 1 watt mode with the volume maxed. I never use it like that really. If I want louder than 1 watt, I go to 5 watt and turn down the master. It’s a great amp. Now you can find them for under $300. Just got one for $280 shipped.

    Sounds great! Haven't heard a peavy since I had one back in 1998. It sounded nothing like this.

      +Mark Ross Thanks, Peavey has really stepped up their game with these mini amps. I also have the Classic 20 mini and it is just as nice. Both can do anything from jazz to high gain, the 6505 MH adds metal to that. The Orange 1x12 cab is a perfect match.

      +Howard G tempted to sell my full 6505 head for the mini head :/ your thoughts?

    • @howardg1524
      @howardg1524  9 лет назад

      +alvarg EL84s don't have the grunt of the 6L6s, so you might be disappointed, but for the much improved cleans and great tones clean or gain at low volumes you would be happy adding a 6505 MH to your stable.

    • @alvarg
      @alvarg 9 лет назад

      Howard G its the high gain at low volumes that i'm interested in my 6505 is loud as shit lol

    • @howardg1524
      @howardg1524  9 лет назад

      +alvarg My EVH 5150 III 50w head sounds GREAT at bedroom volumes, but is as LOUD as most 100w heads, that might be a better option for you. Ditch the old 5150 and buy the new 5150 III 50w. Feel free to PM me on thegearpage.net or mylespaul.com, I am yell03 (the 0 is a zero). I might be able to hook you up with good deals on either amp if you decide to pull the trigger.

  • @lucyferina

    great tone but you don't buy an amp designed to be a metal beast to play clean riffs...
    I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but its like buying a randall satan to play blues...wtf...

    • @howardg1524
      @howardg1524  6 лет назад +2

      True, but even some Metal has softer clean parts in transition, not death metal, but that is not my style.
