EXPLORING LISBON WITH EXPEDIA | NIC VON RUPP

When it comes to big waves, beautiful beaches and energetic city life, Lisbon has it all.
Big wave surfer Nic von Rupp shows Expedia his favourite beach, restaurant and city spots, in both Lisbon and Sintra.
Our tour starts at one of Nic’s favourite beaches in the Lisbon area, Praia da Adraga in Sintra. For lunch we head to local favourite, Bar do Fundo at Praia Grande, which has the best octopus salad in the area.
Further along Praia Grande is the picturesque clifftop town of Azenhas do Mar, where we visit the natural swimming pool and the poolside bar- it’s the perfect sunset spot.
After surfing, it’s nice to get some of the city’s buzz and listen to some music, so we head to Amor Records, a renowned Brazilian-founded record shop in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood.
A trip to Lisbon isn’t complete until you sample canned sardines at Conserveira de Lisboa, take the tram at Elevador da Bica and take in the beautiful landscape from viewpoints at Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Jardim do Torel. It’s the perfect itinerary crammed with local insights to save for your next trip.
