Hibiscus has weight-loss and antioxidant properties, helps reduce total cholesterol and lower blood pressure.
Hibiscus tea is already well known among those looking to lose weight, but did you know that it has so many other benefits for our health? So let's get to know more about it together and learn how to use it medicinally.
The part of the plant that we will use are the floral calyces. The hibiscus has stalks and leaves in purplish tones and can reach up to 2 meters in height, but it usually doubles beforehand under the weight of the fruits. Its scientific name is Hibiscus sabdariffa L., it is from the malvaceae family and is native to Asia. It can be grown in pots or beds.
Hibiscus is also a PANC - Non-Conventional Food Plant. Its leaves and flowers are edible, with a slightly acidic/sour flavor that goes very well in salads, but can also be prepared in hot dishes, we can add it to rice, beans or stir-fries. The floral calyces, a part that is used due to its medicinal properties in juices and teas, are also used in cooking, and can be prepared raw in salads, stews, soups or in delicious fermented preserves that also benefit our health, after all they include plants with therapeutic properties in our daily diet is the best way to take care of our health in a preventive way.
