Escape from SA Prison! Uncover Thabo Bester & Dr Nandipha | Miles Bhudu
Prisoner Rights activist and ex-convict, Golden Miles Bhudu says they informed prison stakeholders including the minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola and other authorities about the Thabo Bester escape but they ignored us.
Bhudu says this escape is an embarrassment for South Africa and since his capture and arrest, local authorities will make sure they make Bester pay for this failure of the system. Bester has already raised concerns about his safety at Kgosi Mampuru Maximum Prison, suspecting that his food could be poisoned.
The convicted rapist and murderer, Thabo Bester was re-arrested in Tanzania with his alleged accomplice and partner, Dr Nandipha Magudumana on their way to Kenya. The two have been on the run since an expose by a publication Ground Up, telling how Bester faked his death and escaped a G4S privately owned Mangaung Prison in March 2022?*
Bhudu says he also reached out to the two captured fugitives, advising them to hand themselves over to law enforcement authorities and negotiate for a plea bargain but his advice fell on deaf ears.
In this interview with Something Nice with Dinano he also reveals some of the behind the scenes dealings in South African prisons.

There is no justified reason to commit crime
So he could learn from Izinja Zegame. No lies detected there. The likes of Miles, Skeem GP, Israel Makoe should have active roles in the prison system like how former soccer players and artists should have active roles in governance.
I have a feeling this case is gonna vanish into thin air. It's more like a fictional novel. Once the hype goes down all disappears
As the devil's advocate I think countries under dictatorship governments handles prisons way better because officers are given total control & power over the prison facilities & the occupants. I understand that rehabilitation is a right for all but the difference is based on if one wants to be rehabilitated or takes prison as a place to expand & practice criminality. Eg in SA there's prison rapes crisis which in other African countries is as good as signing your own death warrant. It's appalling to read/watch reports of prisons being run by gangs who are feared by law enforcement and even as high as ministers offices, for me that's loss of power & this has been evident in this Thabo Bester story. For me Bester & Nandipha crimes exceeds policing/corrections, it's potentially a national security threat. It has exposed how weak law enforcement is & the administrative parties involved in this mess. The disease of greed/corruption has engulfed the government & no one will attend to it because everyone is busy with looting & abusing power. They appear to be serving the people once in a while as a decoy to deceive us so we can keep them in office. Politics especially in Africa is the fastest route to riches through corruption and lawlessness

Your birth details are on the system, his criminal record is on the system, finger prints etc if you get arrested today whether you have an ID doc or not they take your finger prints and through that analysis they can see whether you have been in prison previously or a newbie
