Thanks for the Video Yannick! These are super helpful to get started.
Thanks for this video, I'm late getting to it and NINA has moved on since but I'm still able to follow along and find where things are in this rather dense software. NINA is a bit daunting so I think you're a star (pun intended) for making this guide.
amazing! NINA is so easy to set up and use, thank you for the introduction
Hands down the best capture software out there!
This is such a great video, it goes into so much detail and it really does help me understand this program much better. I am still learning how to use all of its functions but this video has been a huge help to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain its features very clearly.
Thank you for a great video about great software! As a beginner, I just bought a dedicated AP camera [zwo 533] after watching another of your videos and the setup was very intuitive.
Very helpful introduction for this Ricki. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the tour. They thought of everything it seems.
Still stuff to build though!
Great informative video giving a run through of NINA, thanks Cuiv. I am just starting to use this software coming from APT, very promising love the auto focus routine. Thanks again
Excellent to hear Julian! That video is quite old, and NINA has evolved a lot since, so I'm sure you will enjoy it!
Thank you very much. Helped a lot.
Hey Cuiv! This was a great video, I have used it to setup NINA while I wait for my EQ6 to arrive :) Thanks for the excellent presentation. Can't wait to start my astrophotography journey
Thank you Jason! It's now fairly old, with a lot of new features you can check in my NINA playlist as well! Good luck with astrophoto!
Excellent Video--thanks a million.
Awesome video! Can't wait to try this out.
Hopefully it went well for you :)
Thanks a ton. Learned a Lot.
Super video , many thanks :)
I started using N.I.N.A. and this video is godsend. I’ve got a much better idea of what I’m doing now. I’ll definitely be checking out your other videos on N.I.N.A.
It's an old video though! I need to do an updated one... Enjoy NINA!
Great video thanks!
You totally make me change my mind, I was going to get the asi air pro, but now I'm totally sold out for NINA, buying a small laptop it will be cheaper than the airpro, and the control I can get with this program it's far superior, thanks for the videos.
In the end, it's all about flexibility vs work for initial setup. ASI Air attempts to be a turn-key solution, but it doesn't currently support a critical feature (Autofocus). Once it does it may actually be something that I consider.... except that then I would need to manually get my subs from the ASI Air to a computer for processing, which I'm currently doing automatically over my home network... In the end it's all about the needs and preferences of each!
@@CuivTheLazyGeek Yes, also no planetary on ASI Air Pro, which would put me again in the condition of needing a laptop, just need to find the proper way to do the polar alignment, I was going to get a 400 FL guide scope and that's too much for Sharp Cap.
what a BRILLIANT video, thanks so much from a beginner :) :) great teacher!
Thank you! Note that NINA has evolved a LOT since then - so you may want to check my NINA videos playlist!
@@CuivTheLazyGeek Yes I noticed some differences, but nothing major and I was able to follow along with your excellent guide.
That said, I did check your playlist out, and couldn't see any "updated" setup video. I don't know how often NINA changes, so not sure if it's feasible to create updated setup videos every so often?
I really like this software, compare to Backyard EOS. Sadly a lot of astrophotography software has confusing GUI, which makes it very hard for newcomers. NINA is really simple and intuitive.
OUTSTANDING SOFTWARE
Thank you! I have used SGP, but have not taken full advantage of it for a few years. And it costs $$$ to upgrade. Great presentation
I'm in the same boat - I actually paid for the SGP upgrade, but then discovered NINA right after that...
Thank You!
38:00 was the best part!
Which minute?? :)
@@CuivTheLazyGeek typo, 38-minute mark.
@@jefflucas_life Right, plate-solving!! That can make us super lazy indeed :) I have some more videos on platesolving in NINA if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/lAMyEpBcLV4/видео.html
great intro! But I think in imaging settings, "debayer the image" applies only if sb is using a colour camera. With mono camera this should be rather set to 'off'.
I'm thinking of migrating from apt and phd to nina, I'm having too many issues with apt...
Cuiv - great video as always. Question about dithering. I set that to RA only because I feel like my backlash is bad enough in DEC that I might lose a sub just trying to get back to decent guiding. Would you consider that an acceptable trade or will this impact me in processing to a noticeable degree?
I think it is an acceptable trade - but it will hurt you to some extent in processing. It increases the probability of walking noise, so if you use an uncooled camera, it may be an issues... I wish PHD2 has a "dumb / best-effort dither" that would just sent a guide pulse in RA and DEC (same as the direct guiding I implemented in NINA), and not check the results.
@@CuivTheLazyGeek Thanks Cuiv!
thank you for such a detailed video Yannick. I do have one problem that I hope you can help me with. I have astap and the main library installed, yet I cannot see it as an option to select in the plate solver settings. It doesn't show up in the list, all I can see is astrometry, local, platesolve2 and all sky plate solver. Is there something else I need to do besides insall?
@@CuivTheLazyGeek ah ok not to worry! I don't running beta versions, used stellarmate quite a lot so I enjoy helping out the indi forum by running beta's :) thank you!
Help
How can I go back to the old version of NINA. IT IS SIMPLER
Bonjour,
J'y reflechirai!
Could a Linux version be ported with Mono Framework, .Net Core, GTK#, and INDI/ INDIGO backend? Linux needs broader support in the Astro community and there are great new tools like Siril, and I think this could be a great addition.
Unfortunately it would be quite difficult, I think. .NET Core is still not quite there on Linux yet...
Cuiv, I hope you're doing well. I've been using NINA for a while now and really appreciate your tutorials. Howeve,r I've try to add a 3rd profile for my WO GT 81 and everything works well until I try to shoot a sequence. I get an error message "Directory to save image not found". I'm using the same path/directory that I'm using on my other profiles and they work fine. Any ideas?
Mmmh I never had that - I tried creating multiple profiles in NINA just now, and didn't see any problem on my side, so not sure what is happening. Could you try temporarily setting a different folder, see if that works? Otherwise, I would recommend asking on the NINA Discord.
@@CuivTheLazyGeek Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've set up different folders but without any luck. I will have to try the Discord.
@@richardpalfreyman9045 Interesting. That is weird indeed, I hope you can get it fixed...
Can NINA be run on Windows 10 in “Parallels” on a MacBook Pro?
NINA should run in that case, but not sure whether ASCOM and the necessary drivers would work properly. I'd personally go for Bootcamp to avoid issues.
Cuiv, I am attempting to use a Canon DSLR with NINA but for some reason NINA is not fully recognizing the camera. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Mmmh it could be the camera is too old, but it's really not my area of expertise - your best bet is to ask on the NINA Discord chat, specifying your model of camera. Sorry I can't be of more help!
I will do that. Thank you, Cuiv. I really appreciate the information!
SGP for sale (1/2 price) I want to send the money to NINA. (they said they will transfer my license.
Cuiv, I just set up my new ASI183MC Pro. Everything tested well but I was getting grayscale output images. I did not see you address that setting in your video. Surely there is a setting I am not aware of to fix it. RGGB or something. Any tips for me on that?
Thanks.
J.
There should be a Debayer option somewhere in the options!
@@CuivTheLazyGeek found it. My ascom driver was configured wrong. Thanks Cuiv.
I keep getting stupid error messages in the corner no matter what I do. Something about ASIerror....
That typically would be an error coming from the camera itself - you want to make sure you are using the latest version of the software (v1.10), and maybe ask on the NINA Discord Channel for support. Good luck!
@@CuivTheLazyGeek I ended up getting it work but only for 4 of my 10 images in the sequence. Im a first time user so its all Greek to me. But the initial issue was when connecting to PHD I normally have it set to different cameras for imaging and guiding but this didn't know and used my imaging for guiding. Changed that and it worked. But then I went inside cuz its buggy out n came out 10mins before sequence was supposed to end and it had stopped with a bunch of error messages up. Oh well. Ill figure it out one day lol. Til then I'll bounce between NINA and SharpCap
Great program, but it crashes constantly.
That's very much not normal... I haven't seen it crash in over a year
@@CuivTheLazyGeek Wasn't N.I.N.A, it was issues with the PMC-Eight running over wifi. Then came the correct FTDI cable game.
