I have one of them. Colt .38 Special, six shot and three inches barrel. This Colt, that I posses, was made on the 70 decade. And are a still in good working operation. Es una excelente arma de fuego.
There's something iconic & really hard to explain about those pre-72 detective specials. They look as good as they shoot Guess I'll be satisfied with my almost new 94 detective special; pachmayrs, underlug and all. ... Great video.
How about very carefully cleaning the mechanisms underneath the wood grips! Oils and dirt have dried up after 40 to 50 years maybe caked! Please clean that in another video, thank you the management! ❤
Cleaning the revolver without removing the cylinder make the job much more difficult and less effective. I requires the removal of ONE screw to simply slide the cylinder and crane out.
Is a gorgeous gun, congratulations 👍 I'm a S&W revolver collector, but I'm trying to buy a old colt of that kind, or a python old model. But is hard to find in my country. My wife offer me a Manurhin MR 73😉👍
@@humdrumhobbyist8635 it's to bad he give that S&W away! But you own a very good and very collectable gun. And like I say to my wife good guns are better than money in the bank! One example 25 years ago I bought my first S&W revolver model 16-4 and he cost me 450€, last year in December the RIA auctions sold some S&W model 16-4 like mine and the cheaper was sell buy 1750$ the more expensive reach almost 6000$ the rest was 3000$, 4000$....etc. Just one advice don't change nothing in that gun dosen't matter if she have some picks of rust and some scratches, be careful in what you use so you don't take value to the gun👍

This gun’s a classic!
This was my first gun purchase 30 years ago. It was supposedly a detective's gun who worked in the Albany, Georgia police department.
I remember in the 70s-80s most detective movies/tv shows used this or similar weapons

Thank you. Yes, very iconic. To me it represented a generation.
Not sure of condition of that piece although some. 000 steel wool will polish that metal maybe bring back the blueing color !!!!

How about the green crap on the Colt Medallions in the grips? And aren't you going to oil the action?
I tried removing and cleaning it, but to no avail. Its like some kind of accumulated oxidation. Any suggestions on what agent to use? Thanks
@@humdrumhobbyist8635 A little Flitz or Mothers Mag Wheel Polish on a q-tip should clean the medallions.
@@hrfardan66 thank you. Ill try that out. 😊

Thank you. They stopped producing these in the 80s. My Dad used to have a very nice nickel S&W 5-shooter but gave that one away many years ago.

I agree! Not yet quite there when it comes to convincing my wife, but I told her my guns are just as much “investments” as her bags. Hahaha
