Sometimes videos like this one get posted without anyone listening critically to the narration, so there are inaccuracies or questions, like "overlook" and the mysterious 3-car garage.
Maybe it was part of the Mainland Millions of years ago, when owned by Fred Flintstone ?

to me it doesnt make sense, the island is too small to have real privacy. and since you cant buy the water around it, i wouldnt feel safe at all.
as a party house? yes! then again a yacht in the south of france or greece would be even better and cheaper

you can buy much bigger islands in Europe for a similar price. You are going to feel much more isolated there, but thats the point of having a private island right? (you can also buy islands in indonesia for dirt cheap (like $80k), but you would have to be a local citizen which isnt exactly easy)
I always think about that every-time I watch The Living Dead, how come no one has move to a island beach house on stilts !

If you have money you can own island-house as well as all sorts of property there is. So, so beautiful..
Put in a couple different tee boxes and a nice green with a few flags and the island is perfect.

You would need a lot of "help" to live there: two or three gardeners to maintain the elaborate landscaping, someone to get in the boat and fetch groceries every week, maids to clean the mansion and guesthouses, etc.
That's not much if you can afford an $8 million home.

They are probably ferried to the mainland. But at a ridiculous cost, no doubt.
The "3car parking garage" is on the mainland, next to where the litte shuttle boats dock.

Nice place to rent for a vacation, but I would not want to own it. Maintenance and upkeep seems like it would be quite a challenge!
i would love to own it, even if you demolish the houses, the island is worth alot more than what they ask for imo
then again, you can buy a much bigger island in Greece for the same price and a much friendlier climate. but you wont be in the center of the western world.

Probably just dandy. As I'm originally from Rye, NY also on Long Island Sound having vacationed in Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnepesauki when during the winder it can go to -30, six foot snow drifts and the lake freezes four feet thick. So to those of us who already live here it's not big thing. As compared to all those people who went running to Florida at the site of a snowball.

This island does not "overlook," New York City. That is hyperbolic real estate agent nonsense. If you could plot a straight-line course through Long Island Sound (which you can't do), Tavern Island is over 20 miles from Orchard Beach in the Bronx. It is a minimum one hour drive from the Connecticut mainland adjacent to the island to New York City. It's hard to sell something when prospective buyers discover that a prime feature is bull.

Yeh I live on Long Island. Actually closer to the City than this place and you can NOT see the city. This place 50 miles and a 2 hour drive to Manhattan. At least on Long IslandI we have the LIRR to get there.

Beautiful home and island. However, pretty misleading title for your video. There is no way that this overlooks NYC. It is over 30 miles away....
On a very clear day, maybe you could make out the Bronx. Manhattan? Impossible. Three car garage? I didn't see a big ferry. Do you wait for the ice to drive across? Sounds better than it is. Living there would be a big inconvenience for most people. Maybe a writer or painter wouldn't mind.
When I was in Greenwich Hospital visiting a friend it's 30 miles form Manhattan from his window you could see the city.

@@greekforce1698 I was at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich Connecticut visiting a friend who was having surgery and since you've queried on Long Island Sound you are at sea level should there be a direct line of sight you can see Manhattan as I've gone boating many times as there wasn't a problem.
Of course I would need to be at that height I was in town there were trees and other obstacles that's different than being at water level.
On a side note Greenwich Hospital has a grand piano in the lobby, changes the artwork on a weekly basis, has saltwater fish tanks, has premium cable TV in all its private emergency exam rooms, has the valet parking and also serves a lobster and steak as a regular menu item. So peasant what does your hospital have Maury Povich on the TV?

@@hewitc they don't need a big ferry as I'm sure they have already contemplated and worked out getting to land when during the winter salt water doesn't freeze although many many decades ago it did because it was so bitter cold for so many days that Long Island Sound did become solid at one given point. Again it's salt water it would have to be literally cold for many days for it to freeze over I'm from Rye New York two towns below Greenwich Connecticut. Since 1972 as a Rye resident not once during any winter has Long Island Sound ever been frozen.
Not knowing who the potential buyer might be I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue for them regardless of what line of work they were in.
