I appreciate how u said “for now I’ll leave the beat as it is and come back to it in a few months if I’m feeling it.” U helped take away some guilt from me when I don’t finish a beat. I now have a mental permission to pick up where I left of at anytime. Thank you.
All the time, I never once have finished a beat, too much pressure. I rather enjoy the loop for and hour then let it rest.
@@mpcheadgold advice I wish I learned a long time ago. It’s been very liberating and helped me to more objectively pick the best beats to finish later
Great point I do that as well and felt the same way.
I was playing old stuff to friends the yesterday and I was like “wow, I did that”.
@@gooneybird808 yeah its exactly this why iam doin it the same way.
🔥 "Leave the beat as it is, come back to it in a couple of months..." Is the biggest gem in this vid next to your process. I do the very same thing. I've made hundreds of loops. If I want to put it in a project or work on it more later then I'll finish it. Thats 80-85% of my beats. I know I have difficulty staying in the moment so I dont force it. Just glad to know Im not the only one as mentioned in a earlier comment. Im not going to lie I'm very self-conscious about that, feeling that I should finish more beats than I do now. Guess now Im seeing that it isnt uncommon at all. Thank you. I love your vidz and how you teach. Straight to the point and easy to understand.🙏🏾
I'd say most of us work like that, is not uncommon at all. The only thing we need to focus on is getting back to them and finish them.
Love your videos brother. You are the main reason why i got into sampling, and i can't thank you enough. I aspire to make beats like yours one day. Love my man, keep doing what you're doing!
Very inspiring film bro. I appreciate the beauty of the norm! Take care, peace.
What a vibe…!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Long life king's
Much luv and always appreciated
🙏🏼
You are a genius bro!! I love your work…Respect
I appreciate that!🙏🏼🔥🔥
Zdenka Kovacicek is a GOAT - glad to see her being sampled here!
FIRE
That’s dope 🦾🦾🦾
🙏🏼🎷
Nice . Drums must be solid fundation for any beat
Dope brother. Do you have a subwoofer. Just got a B&W ASW1000 recently for my stereo system. Should have bought it decades ago. Sounds twice as big and more realistic when listening to music.
Do you have any plans to create some bass sample packs on Patreon? I'm obsessed with that sound but for now i can't afford the Moog One
Just bass melodies or keygroups?
@@mpchead keygroups :)
I am making keygroups this month. But to clear I alsways just use a sub bass for my bass lines. I'll add a few bass keygroups.
"stem" is the way you can isolate some sounds from the original mix ?
Is one of the ways, you can also use the kill eq
How do you “know” when a beat is finished?
I know, this is a tough question.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Which program do you get stems from? MPC software?
Hi.
As usual, a great beat from you. Everything seems so simple when you make beats. I have a technical question.
When making a drum pattern (quantization disabled) you are not afraid of latency such as hihat, snare or kick drum won't land/register in this exact spot on the midi grid, what did you want? I'm asking because I see that you're using a blue cable, so you're probably using MPC 2 software, so there's definitely some latency, i.e. a delay between pressing the pad and the software registering it on the midi grid.
Peace
I have the cable connected to the laptop but in this case it was it standalone. Even if it was in controller mode, I always record quantized. I shift notes to get my swing.
@@mpchead thank you❤
Which aiaiai headphones are those?
The TMA-2 Studio Wireless +
@@mpchead thanks. I’ve been trying to get some aiaiai’s but tough to decide with all the options. Appreciate you.
My Guy...,what's good??? WHEN will STEMS would become a Standalone function, and since you're one of Akai's preferred content creator, what are your wishes for the next MPC to include, Thanks for sharing your Ideas. The community wants to know?????
Why not a video on some of these questions, I'll prepare something.
The ghost snares as the beat becomes more complete are perfect. Great job my friend 😎👍🏼
Yup definitely adds to the overall groove.
Another vibe…as usual. Since you’re talking process…about how long would you say it took you to find YOUR sound? Making beats is one thing, but it’s not easy to stand out. You have a an identifiable sound, particularly among a lot of the other creators on YT. It would be cool to hear you speak on finding your “voice”. Thanks for sharing 🫡🫡🫡
I learn so much from this channel man it’s incredible honestly
Fire
Two things. One, I would love to see a video on creating baselines! Its something that is so difficult for me but can make a beat so so good. Seconed, I noticed your beats have such a chill nostalgic vibe it sounds as if they were put through some sort of filter. How do you make them sound like that? Btw, I love your videos and beats keep up the good work
Use a filter, is that simple. Thanks ✌🏼
@@mpcheadwhat filter 😭😭
Nice one, thanks!
What headphones did you use here?
These are the aiaiai tma 2
Was that bass the original bass from the sample? Did you apply a low pass filter? Or did you just use it as is? Gracias, Maestro!
The sample had some bass already, the other part I played it on the moog.
@@mpchead Mil gracias!
Your content is fantastic. Thank you for all you do for the producer community.
🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥
@marlowdigs… mate do you do a tutorial on the filing side on the mpc.. I’m so computer phobic and just have 100s of programs rather than a dedicated sample pool.. I just seem to make lots of different tracks and that’s it…. I really want to see a simple vid that shows how to build a library of sounds and then how to access those samples to make multiple programs
Dope. Are stems is standalone now or you still need to hook up to the computer
Not in standalone yet. I used Logic stems for this one.
@@mpchead oh ok , thank you . Didn’t think of that. I use Logic also
Had the same question LoL
@@johnny5kmusic346 Ive been waiting for it to release on standalone and can’t find any answers when it will be available
God bless groovy best
Nice one Marlow. Do you ever use that Ecolette?
Lately it hasn't been used, I had the rhodes on it for a long time.
Diggin' it!
those horns are craaaaazy
🔥🔥🔥🔥
"...and maybe come back to it in a couple of months."
That work flow is SO foreign to me. But, I +very much+ see the appeal and usefulness of working that way... I'm gonna be thinking about that. It's very cool that some ppl are still working on such "aged"/curated songs.
Continued blessings to you, Marlow.
🙏🏼
This is what it’s all about
Yesterday finaly felt comfirtable to try sampling jazz , gotta say what came out suprised me how weirdly good it sound. Wish we had stems in standalone , cuz the percs sound weird due to the chops, tried filters but still hear them
Yeah stems still needs 10 years to get to where we want it.
Makes it look so easy as per usual
Dope
Love the way you squeeze the Blue Note Soul out of that beat you created. Super Duper nice 👍🏽 One Love my brother.!!!

Bro, I swear, you are one of the most inspiring artists out there🔥 lotta love🙌🏻
hi Mr. Digs, just wanted to let you know that you are my biggest inspiration for music right now. it's actually been a challenge to try to find my own style and not just copy yours because i love your beat aesthetic so much
Thank you for your words, keep digging and making beats, everything will fall in place.
