as an average bedwars player, i don't think i wanna stay in my 4v4v4v4 lobby when i see 4 MVP ranked players join at the same time (they're likely sweats in a party). i know that queue dodging is also kinda controversial but playing a game that you never had the chance of winning lowkey just takes away all the fun. i mean it's just depressing getting rushed 20 seconds into a game by a breezy bridger
Understandable, however you will probably end up queuing with LESS overall sweats after this update. The majority of queue-dodging was actually done by these sweats in order to find lobbies of inexperienced players to get easy wins and boost their FKDRs.
I think that they should have some sort of matchmaking. It could be as simple as party's are all in the same game and solo queues are all in the same game
@@icewolfy There aren't enough players for that unfortunately. Bedwars' player count continues to dwindle, and on the off hours, a game can take close to a minute to start. If you created, say, 3 lobbies (for 3 different categories of people), then the time would at least triple, and probably be even higher if you're part of a minority skill group Obviously, 1 minute doesn't sound like a lot, but that was during summer break. The times are going to be even longer now that school is in session
the cheater problem would incredibly difficult to remove as anu updates to the anticheat would immediately be cracked by teams from vape and other clients, and they probably won't drop an insane amount of money on a gamemode that isnt skyblock as those don't have as large of a playerbase. So unless they can somehow pull something off with watchdog or are willing to spend lots of money on a quality anticheat for some less popular games, the problem won't go away. Also, if there is something behind the scenes I am unaware of that you are due to your elevated status within the community then you can disregard this comment

I stopped playing Minecraft years ago, but somehow this video popped up in my recommended and it was a walk down the memory lane when I used to watch all of gamerboy80's videos and spend most of my time in bedwars lobbies. Thankyou Mr. 80 for making my childhood special. You are truly amazing ❤
I think removing the ability queue dodge doesn’t really make sense without a matchmaking system. Im pretty sure sweat parties are what drove a large portion of players away from bedwars in the first place

Ranked prolly would help alot w/ cheaters too bc as u rank up the chance of cheaters being unbanned decreases.
I frankly think what they SHOULD be doing is having a separate queue system for parties vs randoms. Bedwars' biggest issue is the massive skill gap between players, and previous attempts at implementing a skill based matchmaking fix for that went down really badly. The problem gets exponentially worsened by the mixing of 4 stack parties with solo queuers, and then worsened still by their star-based 'balancing' of non-party teams. People queue dodging is in part just a symptom of this much larger problem.
update definitely should have happened years ago. i think the reasoning it happened now is because they finally figured out how to patch Lilith in duels pregame so they decided to pair that update with adding the new obfuscation system to bedwars as well. you mentioned how this already existed in duels, but it was very flawed with bypasses that have only now been patched. if the old (bypassable) system was implemented earlier in bedwars, Lilith users would have a much much larger advantage, so they chose not to. i get how being unable to dodge cheaters is frustrating, but aside from that i think the obsession with stats and winstreaks is crazy out of hand, so this update should remedy that flaw given time. lots of love - best
Apparently Lilith might work on a paid new bypass. Might take long since the dev said Hypixel is dogshit and she is busy with her irl job. However, the playercount dropped dramatically. It might just be that way from now on, much less played and cheater infested. Wishing hypixel luck since this is looking bad.
queue dodging is kinda whatever but i think snipers are the bigger problem. crazy how they just never gutted overlay. probably wont revert the update but might tweak it a little to fix the bigger issues. hidden names are probably staying though
7:11 you’re spot on, it’s a client side mod and (if it’s coded right) it uses hypixel’s api and doesn’t actually send any packets to the server so unless the modloader snitches, there’s no possibility hypixel has a clue they’re using it

recently i was thinking of getting back into bedwars but now that queue dodging has been removed, im never coming back lmao queue dodging didn't even help me win games, it just gives me a chance to win in general since im on a low specs pc with 300+ ping. hypixel doing this has a much more negative impact than positive
I queue dodge because I want my games to be fun. If I join a lobby and see 4 orange rank players named zvdf, cvbz, kjnm and aaaaaaaaaaaaaa of course I'm gonna leave that game. It wont be fun to have the game end in 30 seconds thanks to those people. I feel like the update is to benefit those people because their games took a while to fill in, thanks to people queue dodging. If the game is not going to be fun, why bother playing?
The update is not to benefit sweats at all. If anything this is an attempt at killing the sweaty aspect of the player base. Unfortunately, this also means sweatier games overall since sweats can’t dodge each other.
This is exactly how I feel. I don't play bedwars much but when I do I enjoy solo queueing 4s and I will always leave if a clear party has joined just because it wouldn't be fun.
I don't see how that's less fun. The fun should come from you trying to win. Even if it is what it is and you loose in 30 seconds, so what? You queue dodging lobbies costs everyone else and you another 30 seconds regardless. Just play the game, is my advice.
Name obfuscation only works well with good matchmaking. They should add a matchmaking bot where players would play with other players of the same prestige. This would fix abuse on nons because if they choose the regular bot it would be their choice and it would also add good matchmaking (but only for the people that want it, since they could just use the regular bot and queue as before). Name obfuscation makes no sense on a regular bot, only on a matchmaking bot, not to mention the cheaters and snipers you wouldnt be able to avoid
seems they tried that and it was a catastrophy, high star games never started and the average 300+ star game had enough sweat to cause serious flooding

So then snipers can go in and try to snipe/focus. Now they can’t do that anymore, so they’ll have to stay all the way until the game starts to get the info. Then they can leave. So that’ll often empty up an entire team, so you can go in, get their generator AND break their bed, thus giving you all the final kills for free!

Bots? The scrambled name ID each player gets is different in each pre-lobby. Even if you know what shuffled name X got in the Dockyard map, X will have a different shuffled name ID next game. (Info shared by a developer that checked this). So yes Hypixel did a good job obfuscating names. We might not get any bypass for it, so we have to accept it or develop our own bypass since this update is here to stay apparently.

This update doesn't really improve the experience for anyone. Normal players will continue to play whether or not sweats are there. Normal players dodging sweats to have a fair game will be irritated that they have no idea whether or not they can win a game. Sweats trying to legitimately play or get a goal will be annoyed that they don't know when they'll run into sweaty parties, since there is always some luck involved in those types of games. And then there's the fact that the names can, almost certainly, be deobfuscated by less-than-legit means, making this update a complete pushover to those players.
dodging takes away all competitive integrity from the game. you shouldn't be able to know your chances of winning in the lobby, how can you even justify that. dodging just makes the newer players experience worse. there should be luck in the game, and its wild if that upsets anyone. you are saying so much yet so little.

Hello game boy 80 the mod you said is called an overlay and on top of showing stats the advanced ones can show a sniper % and show what person is sniping. this is a good feature for me as i usually go on decently high winstreaks and since i dont have mvp++ to nick i find myself recently get sniped even because of my high fkdr. its pretty obviously after they usually crossmap and then hashtag something or say something after eliming me. i know im not the only one with this problem.
also theres times i want to casually play instead of having to go endgame against some other really good player. its really removes the fun having a low draw out sweatfest. I do see the pros to this update but i think it will just make bedwar more sweaty and less fun for people that dodge really sweaty queues
cry about it man. no one should have the option to selectively avoid tougher opponents. the change needed to happen, even if it means you cant dodge the occasional cheater. its an issue with cheat prevention, not the update.
@@duels People shouldn't be forced to improve, and also most likely sweat harder at the same time if they don't want to. Some people may want to play it as a fun casual game, which is fair, and something you're only sure that you'll get based on people's ranks most of the times, smurfs do exist but I feel like people rarely use those nowadays. If anything I feel like that this being pushed to outside of stuff like tournaments and such will just make people quit Bed Wars and maybe Hypixel as a whole, but for now this is the only mode I know where this is happening.
For context, I am an 800 star retired solo leaderboard player (BigRooster420). It is no fun playing against players noticeably weaker than you and winning game after game for meaningless numbers. Towards the end of my bedwars days, I would do everything I could to spice up the game from solo queuing various modes to repeatedly queuing and teasing sweats until they finally stayed. This bedwars update seems like a huge relief from the days of playing against people that have no shot because anyone half decent didn't have the balls to stay. Snipers won't be a problem. I've almost never been sniped in the 2000+ hours I've played the game and since they can't tell you're famous, RUclipsrs aren't going to get sniped very much either. To the contrary, this might bring the days of snipers (at least for a lot of them) to a grinding halt. Keeping high winstreaks isn't going to matter anymore because no is going to have anything above 30 or so (at least for solos). And perhaps most importantly, stats are finally going to mean something. Long gone are the days of 10fkdr players who play like they found out what a mouse was yesterday. Very controversial but IMO amazing update. More intense and exciting games to boost adrenaline, less garbage stat inflation, less snipers. The only caveat I would say is hackers that just queue without sniping are going to be annoying af.
Not being able to dodge hackers is so annoying - Played 4 games today and 2 of them had blatant cheaters. I don't really care about stats but the cheating situation is just kind of annoying.
Dodging hackers is one thing or snipers is one thing, but too many players were dodging any lobby where someone had 100 stars because they were afraid to lose there win streak.
I wouldn’t say it’s that extreme. At least most of the lb 1 parties I’m in would completely regard 100 star and even 200 star players as the same as nons unless they had a decently high fkdr.

Whether the stats mod is allowed or not, the existence of the hypixel api means that there would always be a way to check someone’s stats if you saw names, the mod just makes it faster.

i think it’s a way bigger problem in squads than solos and duos. solos and duos it’s like maybe 1/2 sweaty teams which either take each other out or get taken out before they reach by base. But in squads, 1 sweaty team and either the game lasts 45 minutes or they streamroll the entire lobby. I don’t want to q a team of sweats and then fight them for 45 minute, i’d rather take the extra 30 seconds to leave and q a different lobby
Regarding the mod that generates stats in the chat in the lobby that you mentioned, that mod actually stopped working a few years ago when Hypixel changed the way the API works so now those types of mods can no longer call the API for that purpose. A few niche overlays may still have existed afterwards but the main stats mods all got disabled that way already.
Queue dodging to me is making up for hypixels lacking anticheat, matchmaking and also sniping. If those were fixed this update would probably be fine in my opinion. (After this update I tried a few games and basically got instantly rushed by very sweaty players, not fun.)
Once we got taken out by a blatant hacker. For a couple _hours_ after that, we'd repeatedly notice the hacker's name in our queue and be able to leave. Now we can't do that. And it's a problem, 'cause they're obviously not being banned quickly enough...
From an outsider's perspective, im assuming its to benefit the "nons" who would get steam rolled by someone queue dodging. It would give more chances for the nons not to be entirely demolished by a single gb80 and have a fair game.

@@capnbug no tested it out myself on my main account im nearly 400stars with a 5fkdr with over 10k kills i was put up against mostly 20-50 stars and another sweat team meaning it was pretty given that my team or the sweat team would win while on a fresh alt about 20 stars with terrible fkdr i was put again in a lobby with a sweaty team

I like the update because even though it'll be a pain for normal, average players who don't want to queue against sweats, it'll mainly stop sweats from trying to find inexperienced lobbies, and have more sweats go against each other, which is what is supposed to happen, instead of them avoiding each other for easier games.
I think the whole purpose of it is to make the game more beginner friendly, both changes relate to newer players being advantaged and sweats kinda being nerfed. As someone who is like 400 smth stars I understand people’s frustrations but I don’t think it’s that bad, change is tough but queue dodging was stupid to begin with
i feel like it would have made far more sense to just limit the amount of times people can leave and rejoin a lobby without playing a game, such as twice or thrice. this would limit queue dodging but still allow a 30* to avoid accidentally playing a game against 4 MVP++s

As someone who also used to grind bedwars, I used to be worried about who's in my game and I'd completely stop playing if every game I join has sweats because I don't want to lose that much.. I'm here to win some games and have fun. With this update, I don't know who's in my game, and I'm not the younger me who could sweat in a bedwars game, so I'll just quit after this. Don't think that's what hypixel wants.

i dont think it would be impossible to track consistent api calls to everyone in the lobby and ban ppl once there's enough corrolation, even if they make the calls from a centralized server (in which case they could block the source of the api calls) tho idrk how hypixel api works
I thought it was mostly cuz the decreasing number of bedwars players. Kinda forces them to stay in a queue rather than leave and find another server/lobby.
When Hypixel admins look at their player count and wonder to themselves, "Gee... I wonder how I can decrease this further" Basically any update made the past few years it seems like they actively seek to lower their player base. Especially with the false bans on sky block and cracking down on certain RUclips creators for doing their job for them.
560+ star player here. I think this is a good change as it allows you to have more variety in the games for casual players. And it just lessens the chance of getting sniped. For the cheater issue, I have certainly seen less and less cheaters in the games lately (possibly because alt accounts aren't as commonly available as before). And it's not like queue dodging works anyway if the lobby is just full of nicked users.
Here is my thoughts as a supporter of this update. I think a change like this has been long overdue. Stats have been incredibly imbalanced for years due to dodging and it has made it impossible to tell what a players skill level is by their stats alone. Heck, I would even go as far to say that you don't even need to be good at bedwars to have very impressive stats, you just need to be really good at dodging good players. With this change, stats are finally going to reflect a players actual skill. No longer can you farm low stars for stats while avoiding anyone with a pulse. With all that said, I can agree that maybe Hypixel went overkill with this update. Really the only thing they needed to change was giving players the ability to disable their game stats API, which they did. If they had just enabled the API setting off by default, then it would have stopped the overlay problem while still allowing you to avoid cheaters. Even though the update is overkill, I still love it. Even the name obfuscation. My games are constantly targeted by snipers and cheaters. With this update, I can finally play the game in peace.
the name hiding wasn't even the main issue. It was the queue becoming skill based for higher star levels that basically turned every single lobby into a close sweaty fight instead of it being (semi) chill before.
Yep, my doubles partner and I usually win 30-40% of our games, but last session we lost 15 out of 15 games. I’m 300 star and he’s 250. Idk how they’re doing this matchmaking but it sure doesn’t work for us.

@@josheyerr same cuz i'm in the lower star queue (15-50 stars), it's harder for the high star players and it's not as casual for them but it wasn't really fun for the lower star players either when 50% of their games end to their first rush. i heard the high star queue used to be 300+ and that's bad but 50+ stars aren't that bad
another thing ive havent seen anyone talk about, if you're trying to play with more than 4 ppl, and you want specific ppl on a specific team and you dont have MVP++ you cant tell if you got in the same lobby as your friends (bit of a niche problem but still a problem)
Maybe they should add a feature which allows you to queue block certain players from being in the same queue as you without both people being in a party, could be a useful substitute silution to queuedodging hackers
One time I played with a sniper. He has a mod that could basically put him into the lobby of any given player. Not sure how it worked but he managed to harrass this one guy for 10 lobbies straight until he stopped queuing. So basically, this just made sniping 5x better for those with that modification
overlays still work (once the game’s loaded in), but for a lot of bedwars content creators this is HORRIBLE. Bedwars challenge videos will be nearly impossible to record, and practically every new bedwars video might as well be “Fighting Sweats part 19848281991939”.
About this update, I'm pretty sure that if they want to stay with this choice, at least they need more good moderators, cause the mods sometimes don't really pay attention to stuff, and If you can't avoid a hacker, you need to at least have a choice to actually get a ban when you report them.
tbh as someone who has used the mods that show statistics and everything in a game, once hypixel changed the way player ids are used or something, so those mods don't actually work anymore really. queue dodging has been used a lot to essentially ONLY get lobbies with nons, and no one of equal skill or equal. that leads to alot of lobbies full of nothing but mvps/mvp++s repeatedly joining and then dropping, so queues take forever to fill.

7:11 you’re spot on, it’s a client side mod and (if it’s coded right) it uses hypixel’s api and doesn’t actually send any packets to the server so unless the modloader snitches, there’s no possibility hypixel has a clue they’re using it

queue dodging didn't even help me win games, it just gives me a chance to win in general since im on a low specs pc with 300+ ping. hypixel doing this has a much more negative impact than positive
I queue dodge because I want my games to be fun. If I join a lobby and see 4 orange rank players named zvdf, cvbz, kjnm and aaaaaaaaaaaaaa of course I'm gonna leave that game. It wont be fun to have the game end in 30 seconds thanks to those people.
I feel like the update is to benefit those people because their games took a while to fill in, thanks to people queue dodging.
If the game is not going to be fun, why bother playing?

The update is not to benefit sweats at all. If anything this is an attempt at killing the sweaty aspect of the player base. Unfortunately, this also means sweatier games overall since sweats can’t dodge each other.
This is exactly how I feel. I don't play bedwars much but when I do I enjoy solo queueing 4s and I will always leave if a clear party has joined just because it wouldn't be fun.

Name obfuscation only works well with good matchmaking. They should add a matchmaking bot where players would play with other players of the same prestige. This would fix abuse on nons because if they choose the regular bot it would be their choice and it would also add good matchmaking (but only for the people that want it, since they could just use the regular bot and queue as before). Name obfuscation makes no sense on a regular bot, only on a matchmaking bot, not to mention the cheaters and snipers you wouldnt be able to avoid

@@hexcodeff6624 : Snipe bots (automated accounts to gather data) used to queue games and immediately leave to know who’s in there playing what mode at what time. So then snipers can go in and try to snipe/focus.
Now they can’t do that anymore, so they’ll have to stay all the way until the game starts to get the info. Then they can leave. So that’ll often empty up an entire team, so you can go in, get their generator AND break their bed, thus giving you all the final kills for free!

Bots? The scrambled name ID each player gets is different in each pre-lobby. Even if you know what shuffled name X got in the Dockyard map, X will have a different shuffled name ID next game. (Info shared by a developer that checked this). So yes Hypixel did a good job obfuscating names. We might not get any bypass for it, so we have to accept it or develop our own bypass since this update is here to stay apparently.

I got bhopped on two games in a row and I didn’t know. The exact situation you described happened to me.
This update doesn't really improve the experience for anyone. Normal players will continue to play whether or not sweats are there. Normal players dodging sweats to have a fair game will be irritated that they have no idea whether or not they can win a game. Sweats trying to legitimately play or get a goal will be annoyed that they don't know when they'll run into sweaty parties, since there is always some luck involved in those types of games. And then there's the fact that the names can, almost certainly, be deobfuscated by less-than-legit means, making this update a complete pushover to those players.
dodging takes away all competitive integrity from the game. you shouldn't be able to know your chances of winning in the lobby, how can you even justify that. dodging just makes the newer players experience worse. there should be luck in the game, and its wild if that upsets anyone. you are saying so much yet so little.

Hello game boy 80 the mod you said is called an overlay and on top of showing stats the advanced ones can show a sniper % and show what person is sniping. this is a good feature for me as i usually go on decently high winstreaks and since i dont have mvp++ to nick i find myself recently get sniped even because of my high fkdr. its pretty obviously after they usually crossmap and then hashtag something or say something after eliming me. i know im not the only one with this problem.
also theres times i want to casually play instead of having to go endgame against some other really good player. its really removes the fun having a low draw out sweatfest. I do see the pros to this update but i think it will just make bedwar more sweaty and less fun for people that dodge really sweaty queues

@@duels People shouldn't be forced to improve, and also most likely sweat harder at the same time if they don't want to. Some people may want to play it as a fun casual game, which is fair, and something you're only sure that you'll get based on people's ranks most of the times, smurfs do exist but I feel like people rarely use those nowadays. If anything I feel like that this being pushed to outside of stuff like tournaments and such will just make people quit Bed Wars and maybe Hypixel as a whole, but for now this is the only mode I know where this is happening.

For context, I am an 800 star retired solo leaderboard player (BigRooster420). It is no fun playing against players noticeably weaker than you and winning game after game for meaningless numbers. Towards the end of my bedwars days, I would do everything I could to spice up the game from solo queuing various modes to repeatedly queuing and teasing sweats until they finally stayed. This bedwars update seems like a huge relief from the days of playing against people that have no shot because anyone half decent didn't have the balls to stay. Snipers won't be a problem. I've almost never been sniped in the 2000+ hours I've played the game and since they can't tell you're famous, RUclipsrs aren't going to get sniped very much either. To the contrary, this might bring the days of snipers (at least for a lot of them) to a grinding halt. Keeping high winstreaks isn't going to matter anymore because no is going to have anything above 30 or so (at least for solos). And perhaps most importantly, stats are finally going to mean something. Long gone are the days of 10fkdr players who play like they found out what a mouse was yesterday. Very controversial but IMO amazing update. More intense and exciting games to boost adrenaline, less garbage stat inflation, less snipers. The only caveat I would say is hackers that just queue without sniping are going to be annoying af.
Not being able to dodge hackers is so annoying - Played 4 games today and 2 of them had blatant cheaters. I don't really care about stats but the cheating situation is just kind of annoying.

Dodging hackers is one thing or snipers is one thing, but too many players were dodging any lobby where someone had 100 stars because they were afraid to lose there win streak.
I wouldn’t say it’s that extreme. At least most of the lb 1 parties I’m in would completely regard 100 star and even 200 star players as the same as nons unless they had a decently high fkdr.

Whether the stats mod is allowed or not, the existence of the hypixel api means that there would always be a way to check someone’s stats if you saw names, the mod just makes it faster.

i think it’s a way bigger problem in squads than solos and duos. solos and duos it’s like maybe 1/2 sweaty teams which either take each other out or get taken out before they reach by base. But in squads, 1 sweaty team and either the game lasts 45 minutes or they streamroll the entire lobby. I don’t want to q a team of sweats and then fight them for 45 minute, i’d rather take the extra 30 seconds to leave and q a different lobby

Regarding the mod that generates stats in the chat in the lobby that you mentioned, that mod actually stopped working a few years ago when Hypixel changed the way the API works so now those types of mods can no longer call the API for that purpose. A few niche overlays may still have existed afterwards but the main stats mods all got disabled that way already.
Queue dodging to me is making up for hypixels lacking anticheat, matchmaking and also sniping. If those were fixed this update would probably be fine in my opinion. (After this update I tried a few games and basically got instantly rushed by very sweaty players, not fun.)
Once we got taken out by a blatant hacker. For a couple _hours_ after that, we'd repeatedly notice the hacker's name in our queue and be able to leave. Now we can't do that. And it's a problem, 'cause they're obviously not being banned quickly enough...

From an outsider's perspective, im assuming its to benefit the "nons" who would get steam rolled by someone queue dodging. It would give more chances for the nons not to be entirely demolished by a single gb80 and have a fair game.
quite the opposite now the nons have no idea that they're put up against sweats and thx to the terrible match making its almost 100% garantied that there is at least one sweat team

@@capnbug no tested it out myself on my main account im nearly 400stars with a 5fkdr with over 10k kills i was put up against mostly 20-50 stars and another sweat team meaning it was pretty given that my team or the sweat team would win while on a fresh alt about 20 stars with terrible fkdr i was put again in a lobby with a sweaty team
@callmelou5397 idk, that's not much of a test imo. Sounds pretty isolated. Like I'm not gonna say it's a good thing that they're alienating their super active user base, but I am willing to trust that the bedwars team made this change with statistical evidence in mind.

I like the update because even though it'll be a pain for normal, average players who don't want to queue against sweats, it'll mainly stop sweats from trying to find inexperienced lobbies, and have more sweats go against each other, which is what is supposed to happen, instead of them avoiding each other for easier games.

I think the whole purpose of it is to make the game more beginner friendly, both changes relate to newer players being advantaged and sweats kinda being nerfed. As someone who is like 400 smth stars I understand people’s frustrations but I don’t think it’s that bad, change is tough but queue dodging was stupid to begin with
i feel like it would have made far more sense to just limit the amount of times people can leave and rejoin a lobby without playing a game, such as twice or thrice. this would limit queue dodging but still allow a 30* to avoid accidentally playing a game against 4 MVP++s

As someone who also used to grind bedwars, I used to be worried about who's in my game and I'd completely stop playing if every game I join has sweats because I don't want to lose that much.. I'm here to win some games and have fun. With this update, I don't know who's in my game, and I'm not the younger me who could sweat in a bedwars game, so I'll just quit after this. Don't think that's what hypixel wants.

i dont think it would be impossible to track consistent api calls to everyone in the lobby and ban ppl once there's enough corrolation, even if they make the calls from a centralized server (in which case they could block the source of the api calls) tho idrk how hypixel api works

I thought it was mostly cuz the decreasing number of bedwars players. Kinda forces them to stay in a queue rather than leave and find another server/lobby.
When Hypixel admins look at their player count and wonder to themselves, "Gee... I wonder how I can decrease this further"
Basically any update made the past few years it seems like they actively seek to lower their player base. Especially with the false bans on sky block and cracking down on certain RUclips creators for doing their job for them.

560+ star player here. I think this is a good change as it allows you to have more variety in the games for casual players. And it just lessens the chance of getting sniped.
For the cheater issue, I have certainly seen less and less cheaters in the games lately (possibly because alt accounts aren't as commonly available as before). And it's not like queue dodging works anyway if the lobby is just full of nicked users.

Here is my thoughts as a supporter of this update.
I think a change like this has been long overdue. Stats have been incredibly imbalanced for years due to dodging and it has made it impossible to tell what a players skill level is by their stats alone. Heck, I would even go as far to say that you don't even need to be good at bedwars to have very impressive stats, you just need to be really good at dodging good players.
With this change, stats are finally going to reflect a players actual skill. No longer can you farm low stars for stats while avoiding anyone with a pulse.
With all that said, I can agree that maybe Hypixel went overkill with this update. Really the only thing they needed to change was giving players the ability to disable their game stats API, which they did. If they had just enabled the API setting off by default, then it would have stopped the overlay problem while still allowing you to avoid cheaters.
Even though the update is overkill, I still love it. Even the name obfuscation. My games are constantly targeted by snipers and cheaters. With this update, I can finally play the game in peace.

Ive been watching you since i was 12 years old, its crazy how time passed to fast, im about to enter uni now
the name hiding wasn't even the main issue. It was the queue becoming skill based for higher star levels that basically turned every single lobby into a close sweaty fight instead of it being (semi) chill before.
Yep, my doubles partner and I usually win 30-40% of our games, but last session we lost 15 out of 15 games. I’m 300 star and he’s 250. Idk how they’re doing this matchmaking but it sure doesn’t work for us.
@@jrcolonial98 I find the games much easier now. My duo and I win the same amount or a little bit more since the update. It's just annoying now because we can't dodge obvious cheaters or stat alts.
@@josheyerr same cuz i'm in the lower star queue (15-50 stars), it's harder for the high star players and it's not as casual for them but it wasn't really fun for the lower star players either when 50% of their games end to their first rush. i heard the high star queue used to be 300+ and that's bad but 50+ stars aren't that bad
another thing ive havent seen anyone talk about, if you're trying to play with more than 4 ppl, and you want specific ppl on a specific team and you dont have MVP++ you cant tell if you got in the same lobby as your friends (bit of a niche problem but still a problem)

One time I played with a sniper. He has a mod that could basically put him into the lobby of any given player. Not sure how it worked but he managed to harrass this one guy for 10 lobbies straight until he stopped queuing. So basically, this just made sniping 5x better for those with that modification

overlays still work (once the game’s loaded in), but for a lot of bedwars content creators this is HORRIBLE. Bedwars challenge videos will be nearly impossible to record, and practically every new bedwars video might as well be “Fighting Sweats part 19848281991939”.
About this update, I'm pretty sure that if they want to stay with this choice, at least they need more good moderators, cause the mods sometimes don't really pay attention to stuff, and If you can't avoid a hacker, you need to at least have a choice to actually get a ban when you report them.

tbh as someone who has used the mods that show statistics and everything in a game, once hypixel changed the way player ids are used or something, so those mods don't actually work anymore really. queue dodging has been used a lot to essentially ONLY get lobbies with nons, and no one of equal skill or equal. that leads to alot of lobbies full of nothing but mvps/mvp++s repeatedly joining and then dropping, so queues take forever to fill.
