Honestly while we can all agree this movie isnt the best I saw a kind of Joker theme in it of it being the story of the sad fall of some one whos down on there luck into madness through fame. Now of course they are not exactly the same. Outcomes. Actions. Execution of the movie. Public opinion. All of these things factor into it. But you cant deny there are some similarities. Does that make this movie good? Hell no. This movie is by far the greatest Mediocre travesty of a Success to come out of Disney in recent years but is it fun? Sure!

@göksu gün alioğlu I think you might be confused. I wasn't saying Cruella the character is like Joker or Han Solo, I was saying this movie is like the movie named Solo, as they both have a bad habit of explaining things about their main characters origins in ways that are kind of dumb (Solo being named that because he was on his own and Cruella getting her last name from a car, for example), and is nothing like the movie named Joker, which people on twitter have been comparing it to.
The most confusing part is how this film got approved. "Yeah, I wanted to make a prequel about an awful puppy murdering sociopath" Disney "Brilliant! You're funded now play with our millions of dollars!"
Remember when Twisted had a song in it where various Disney Villains showed their side of the story and how they were actually the good guys? And when Cruella showed up, the other villains booed her off stage because she literally just wanted to murder puppies to make a coat? Yeah, that's why this shit doesn't make sense.
Twisted? What’s that? And I bet a lot of Disney Villains aren’t really justified either. Like what’s Jafar’s motivation? Did the Sultan execute his family or something? What’s Ursula’s motivation? Did King Trident bully her as a kid? As far as I know, they’re all just evil for the hell of it.
@@ablosch2452 Twisted is a musical by Starkids. It's basically Malificent but with Jafar as the protagonist. The song in question had Gaston, Ursula, Scar and Captain Hook all barge in and share the 'real' story of why they did the things they did, and how the movies supposedly make them out to be the villains. But when Cruella shows up, she basically says she just wanted to have a coat made of puppies, and all the others boo her off the stage. You should give Twisted a watch. It's really good and available for free on RUclips.
@@ablosch2452 Jafar is just a powerhungry a-hole whos hard for Jasmine's behind and has nothing to "justify" his actions, but Ursula on the other hand do actually in a twisted way have a reason, not a good one, but a reason, and that being the fact that she was banished by Triton from the kingdom due to her actions, she has a whole musical number summing it all up.
That's literally all I could think of when I heard this movie announced. I rewatched Twisted just for that song and practically shouted "she's evil!" at the screen. Sidenote: I frickin love Starkid.
I hated the fact that they made her style throughout the entire movie “punk goth” when in 101 Dalmatians, she has a more elegant fashion and not this punk persona
well disney did greenlight a sequel conspiracy: in the book and movie for 101 dalmatians Cruella was middle-aged. in this movie she looked barely on the brink of 21, therefore the dogs wouldn't be alive when she is middle-aged. barrenness may escape prison and act as Cruella to ruin her, if this is the case then Disney is just playing an age game
Also punk is all about rebelling and standing out. It’s like a movement against the system. Cruella BECAME the system and enforced every capitalist goal so punk doesn’t fit.
Someone made a joke on Tumblr that Cruella's prequel movie would feature Dalmatians murdering her parents. As it seems, the internet was gifted with telling the future once again.
They probably didn't even know, it's just that, it'd make sense if she got traumatized by the Dalmatians if they're going for the prequel thing, and the parents' death scenes are cliché and usually easy to atleast do a adequate job of showing tramua, but yeah this movie sucked at that 😂
Oh the irony of making the most capitalist character in disney as a punk icon is hilarious. Cruella was born rich, she liked being rich and only cared for herself. Disney trying to make her the underdog and being punk is just hilarious.

Ironically, Zeus is actually way worse than Hades in Greek Mythology. Hades is still no saint, though, considering he kidnapped his own niece to force her into marrying him.
I love how hard Disney tries to romanticize irredeemable villains while completely misunderstanding why Joker succeeded as it's own antagonist origin story movie. Pretty sure not that many people out there can relate with rich, old women who are pathologically obsessed with flaying puppies because "muh parents were killed by dogs!", like that isn't the most easily generic reason the writers could've came up with to drive the character's motives.
Again. She doesn’t kills the puppies, not even the grown ass Dalmatians raised by the woman WHO DID killed her ‘mom.’ She actually loves dogs, so much that the friend she has the soonest and still with by the end IS A DOG. It is NOT trying to be a villain story.
If you ask me, Joker really sucked because they tried to humanize one of the most inhuman DC villains (and plus the movie was boring too). Joker’s history never mattered, he could be anyone or no one, all that matters is his inhumanity and how it’s all a game to him. It’s like the read Batman The Killing Joke and completely glossed over how Joker was freakin wrong. Plus the Batman series has so many other villains who fit the bill of a tragic villain way better than that. It would’ve worked better with ones like Mr Freeze, Two-Face, The Mad Hatter, or even Egghead. But no, I guess it had to be Joker because make recognition.

He's literally the most iconic villain in the history of superheroes, and you know we've already seen the origins of Batman enough times to count the amount of breathes we took in our lifetimes, so I think it was about time Joker got the spotlight to himself. I don't think it was as spectacular as Taxi Driver (the film it was based on) but I'm glad it introduced newer generations to the genre of dark existential thriller.

Joker was a serial killer/mass murderer. In his movie, we were meant to feel bad for him but still condemn the actions he did. Like yeah he was a nice guy at the start but he got pushed to become a monster. We’re not supposed to look up to him, but rather fear becoming like him or creating people like him through our actions towards others. Cruella was a puppy skinner who seems like a bad apple from the start with a really shitty backstory. However the movie tries to make us feel bad because Dalmatians killed her mom (lmao). And now morons are saying this is an “empowering movie”. She goes on to try and murder goddamn puppies but yet we’re supposed to look up to her? Words cannot describe how dumb that is.
Again, The Baroness killed her mother, and Estella doesn't hate the Dalmatians for now I like the movie but she's starting to become a jerk to the two henchmen and she's still a criminal, we're not supposed to look up to her it's just an origin story !!
Unlike Joker she isn't crazy either. She's just a horrible person that only cares about herself. Her mom dying doesn't really have anything to do with her actions in the original 101 Dalmatians and certainly doesn't excuse them, yet we are supposed to somehow sympathize with her for it.
@@GellertTV Why even bother? She wins, she inherits her mom's fortune and no longer has anything to fear. Fun fact! Most moths don't actually eat clothes, and those that do never eat them as adults - most adult moths don't even have mouths. Of the few species that do eat clothes, they all do so as larva, before they create their cocoons and enter the Pupa phase. Additionally, sewing the cocoons to the dress damages them, which probably would have killed a lot of these moths before they even came out. Cruella's whole plan to sabatoge the Baroness's dresses isn't just stupid, it's biologically impossible.
I saw in a fashion account in insta that this fire dress trick is actually real. It was used before in a fashion show and they have used a special fabric for it. I can't remember the brand or the details of it but it was definitely inspired from that trick
The most unrealistic thing about this movie is the fact that the Baroness was able to train the Dalmatians to do coordinated attacks. Dalmatians are as dumb as bricks. You can still have compassion without empathy, and lacking empathy does NOT mean lacking morality. Ted Bundy might have had ASPD but that doesn't mean murderers can't be neurotypicals too, and that victims can't have ASPD. It’s honestly shocking that the same people who essentially dog-pile and scrutinise others to hell and back for stepping the slightest bit out of their intangible ever-changing line also approve of a fictitious devil-named puppy-killer as an empowering icon for their own sexual identity/ cause. Also, one of the most major differences between Joker and Cruella both as characters and films (besides the obvious factors in their overall qualities), that I’m surprised Possum didn’t mention, are that the former character’s actions are never treated as solutions to the relentless conditions he faces but instead always as consequences, as opposed to the latter character where her hubris and spite are always portrayed as a solution to her goals.

@@digitalfantasies4570 tbh from what I've seen, girl are often worse than boys, mostly because they can do it so much more subtly and unnoticed, compared to boys. Has one of the more stable relationships with his wife too (ironic, since many interpretations have him trick her into being stuck in the underworld most the year with him as a way to explain changing seasons). Hell, the role Hades has in the disney version of the movie if anything just kinda has Hades take the place of Hera, since it was Zues' wife who had the murder boner for yet another kid born from a woman other than her. Honestly, someone like Ursula funny enough would have probably worked better as a redeemable female villain in general if they're so dead set on it. Her actions when you actually look at it isn't anywhere near as horrid as other villains, you can kinda get why she hates the king, and like Hades she's not even the villain in the original story the disney version is based on. But you know, using villains who are conceivably easy to redeem requires basic thought so-.
As everyone else has said, the original Hades himself was arguably one of the most respectable gods. He didn’t even antagonize the mortals for no reason! The guy simply loved his wife and took care of his three headed dog, while running his crappy job

Pretty sure not that many people out there can relate with rich, old women who are pathologically obsessed with flaying puppies because "muh parents were killed by dogs!", like that isn't the most easily generic reason the writers could've came up with to drive the character's motives.

I agree with the rest of it but you didn't need to say the psychopath part. Stop demonizing the mentally ill and just hold people accountable, sociopaths and psychopaths suffer enough from chronic boredom. By generalizing a whole group of disabled people you're not being good in any way, you are silencing the victims of abuse that have ASPD and it's disgusting. Even if you were abused by someone with ASPD and not just diagnosing them because of how they were then it still doesn't mean all of them are like that, would you say that people with depression and PTSD are all abusers? because that's equally shitty and stupid, people were abused by people with those disorders and ASPD but they don't go on saying all of them are like that, there's also psychopaths and sociopaths that are abused by neurotypicals, simple as that. You can still have compassion without empathy, and lacking empathy does NOT mean lacking morality. Ted Bundy might have had ASPD but that doesn't mean murderers can't be neurotypicals too, and that victims can't have ASPD. By saying that all psychopaths are like that, you're being extremely ableist and offensive. You could have used the word murderer or something but psychopathy is a disorder, not an adjective.

Girls can be even worse than boys sometimes. To them, it's not enough to just bully you. They have to assert their dominance by completely trashing your reputation. Usually through use of the internet.
Okay the comment above me is cringe, I have met several guys who do the exact same thing, when you do stuff like saying girls can be worse and you group a entire gender into "them" then it just seems wrong. You literally said "They have to assert their dominance". I'm presuming some girl had done that to you or a friend in the past but legit your comment goes directly against the original comment which is the fact that both guys and girls can be terrible people and that ANYONE can be bad and that grouping a certain gender as worse is wrong. And no saying "sometimes" at the start of your comment doesnt get rid of you basically saying girls act worse.
@@digitalfantasies4570 tbh from what I've seen, girl are often worse than boys, mostly because they can do it so much more subtly and unnoticed, compared to boys. I don't know how they do it, but they seem to get away with bullying much easier than boys. Not that it should be a contest of who bullies better, both girls and boys should just stop, but I'm just saying that I've only ever found out about girls bullying other students once the victim came out about it or something happened to the victim, while I, for example, saw a boy pull off another boy's shoe and backpack and throw them away on the playground, _literally yesterday_
They had no subtlety whatsoever.
Yet, I've never seen a girl bully with my own eyes.
@@digitalfantasies4570 Actually, yes. Saying "sometimes" in the comment DOES get rid of the meaning that girls act worse all the time. Your opinion that it doesn't has no basis in the sentence's meaning outside of your desire to support your own argument. Therefore it's your comment that is cringe.
@@digitalfantasies4570 This doesn't state it as a fact, but I've met quite a bit of girls over my lifetime and when this topic is brought up literally all of them have said girls can be far more cruel. Yeah, honestly Hades is probably one of the gods who's most respectful of humans.
