Play this at my funeral. Truer words I have never heard. Throw away your Bibles and Korans and listen to your heart. The heart never lies. "Do your God a favor". Beautiful. One of the best beautiful women I have ever seen, unbelievable voice, she was blessed and used her blessings to spread the word and change attitudes and in doing so, changed people. A life well lived. I hope in my remaining years I can find a way to a very little bit of what she did. Respect, love, kindness will eventually win. Hope is a good thing.

YOU know what a lucky man you are, right? The Another World Tour was the best. They split right after the show because I saw them on my right side in a big green station wagon (with real wood-like wallpaper on the sides👍🌹).

Ever since watching CROSSING DELANCEY from 1988, I was infatuated by the vocals of Maggie, Suzzy and Terre Roche as they provided the soundtrack to the movie. I have all their CDs including their children's CD and their lyrics are universal and are more relevant in today's divisive American culture.

'84 Another World Tour Wax Museum DC & about a decade ± later in So Beach at St Talkhouse I was blessed to act like I worked there, held up opening the stage door to get the opportunity to tell them "I saw you at....; "You guys did structural damage there!'' IT WAS A COMPLIMENT! EVERYONE IN ALL OTHER ROWS WAS SEATED IN FRONT OF MY POV. SO WHEN THEY HIT - I SAW ALL HEADS TURNING TO THEIR LEFT & THE RIGHT SILENTLY AMAZED AT HOW EACH'S LITTLE HAIRS ON ARMS STOOD AT ATTENTION & ORGASMIC RUSHES WASHED OVER, AROUND, & THROUGH EACH ONE OF US.
AH HARMONICS- NEVER BEFORE NOR SINCE! EVEN THOUGH MY EQUIPMENT WAS CONFISCATED AT THE DOOR, MY NEW FRIEND TO MY LEFT HAD EXACTLY THE SAME GEAR/SYSTEM & I SPENT THE NIGHT TAPING AFTER HE'D EVEN GONE TO SLEEP. THAT WAS A 1 IN A MILLION & 650 HUNDRED THOUSAND 5HUNDRED & 67 CHANCE SHOW. THAT TRIO COULD HAVE SHATTERED GLASS LIKE ERTHA KITT ON THAT COMMERCIAL! NOT ANY 1 (NONE) AMONG THE MANY HUNDREDS OF 'REAL' CONCERTS BEFORE OR AFTER THAT NIGHT EVEN CAME CLOSE! NEVER. I DON'T CARE IF ANYONE THINKS THAT IT'S AN EXAGGERATED COMPLIMENT TO THE ROCHES. IF I COULD TIME TRAVEL WITH A FOOL- I'D BE ABLE TO PROVE THAT IS A FACT. THEIR MOM WAS RIGHT TO BE PROUD OF HER CHILDREN - 4 INCLDG A BROTHER DAVID PERFORMED THAT LATER NIGHT & I WAS BLESSED WITH TWO & THE CHANCE TO TELL THEM HOW THEY MADE THAT PLACE I'D FIRST SEEN THEM IN LITERALLY SHAKE! FROM TRICKS LIKE JUST GOING: HAAAA. 🎼 THAT WAS A SIMPLE THING FOR THEM, THEN, THERE. WOW

I wonder if they wrote this during the Irish "Troubles". I know they had a song wherein they were going to Ireland "soon" and worried about getting their fave dessert there. Such an important song. "Put aside your religion - do your God a favor" - I'm Jewish and am always in anguish over the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and volunteer on and off with ME peace groups.

Loving, i presume, for many is not easier, nor easy. The standard is very high, "in fact".
So much of modern life is against it. But it's still possible.
We have to know where we want to go, then need the help of those that know how.
      Intention alone is NOT enough.

When the world seems so chaotic and people are so polarised and hateful, it is great to hear the late Maggie Roche's song "Everyone Is Good." Everyone truly is good even if they have different notions and may be ignorant or prejudiced about certain things. Either way, we will have to accept our differences and be respectful of others if we are to coexist together in this only spaceship Earth. We will not be able to make any space travel since we will have exhausted all our resources and the expense and primitive propulsion technology will not be enough. We are all admittedly still primitive apes living in a PRE-WARP world and incapable of collectively "Looking Beyond the Curve." Music seems to make one get philosophical. Oh well. 10-Q for your time my fellow Academes.

Maybe if those people had heard this song, this message, at the right age, they would have known the truth of themselves. Goodness is a universal foundation, but not necessarily the structure everyone chooses to build upon it. A lack of confidence in our own capacity for good, coupled with a strong will towards self-expression, can leads to a life of trying to prove how bad we can be. "Prove it!" we say. The universe allows us to prove whatever we hold dear enough, good or bad.

  • @WayneBrejcha

Awesome singing and sentiment to wring tears out of any heart. But… ‘everyone is good’? Maybe babies. Or maybe all that’s meant is something like “people are not bad on account of social standing or the color of their hair or choice of socks, so let’s stop breaking bad on each other on those accounts”. But it doesn’t feel like that’s what the song is after, those lyrics are more universal and absolute. ‘Everyone’: nope. You have to count me out, at least. (So at current count, that’s like eight-billion-something, minus one.) And not ‘is’, if ‘is’ means a current unwavering state of being including thought, intention, speech, & action, and not a hoped for future good self, or some dimension of self in an alternate parallel reality. And not ‘good’, except by compromising or diluting the idea of ‘good’ so much that it loses its meaning in relativistic mush. I’m going with Jesus on this one… “there is none good but one, that is, God”. Maybe he meant himself as Christ, but I have some doubts that it describes the rest of us as we relate to real goodness. If you asked if i needed another slice of pizza i might say ‘no thanks, i’m good’, but that’s about it for me anyway. Anyway, lovely singing and a beautiful wish. May it come true someday.
