- Martha was a toddler when she was adopted at the start of the 21st century. She is black and her adoptive parents are two men: Harald Beckmann and Tobias Joos. Despite the sudden death of Tobias, Martha had a happy childhood within her adopted family.

Year 2030: Martha, now an adult, regularly goes to the hospital to be at the bedside of Harald, her last father still alive. Retired, Harald suffers from a degenerative neurological disease which causes him to gradually lose his memory. In order to fight against illness, Martha evokes their family memories with her father, like Scheherazade.
Furthermore, Martha studies phenomena linked to the paradox of memory and time for a government agency. In the context, she meets Raymond, a producer and TV host tortured by his past. To succeed as a couple, both will have to accept and then overcome the obstacles that memories and life throw up over time.
