ONE WORD: .. COOL ! I Lived 10DME from LAX at the Downey intersection......... I watched thousands of planes pass by over the years.. Wish these were flying at the time... I did see some of the first 777's if not the #1 in service go by. Thanks for the great video.
Very welcome Robert. Glad you enjoyed the video and LAX is where this flight was ending.
Amazing video. Love how they show what is what and walk around showing what they do before they take off. Nice take off, nice pilots. I have to say, it's great to be back from the holiday and watching these again. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy 2020. Can't wait to see more videos.
Welcome back from the Holidays. Hope they were great and happy 2020 as well Shannon. Glad you enjoyed today’s video.
Rare sight seeing a Capt. Hand Fly that long these days. Hats off to you. 👍
Yes for sure. Always nice to see some hand flying after takeoff and during the approach. Used to be a lot more in the days of the classics
Hand flying are now easier and precise because of the 787 HUD
Great footage as usual, excellent preflight briefing and awesome perspectives.....looking fwd to 2020 action...happy landings;-))
Thank you very much MM. we’re looking forward to 2020 as well and have lotsa awesome stuff planned. 1st new release and a new airline for us coming on Thursday👍. Thank you for your support!
Beautiful plane. I took this flight during the summer, and it has been one of the best planes I’ve traveled in.
I’ve never seen hand flying that Long. Pretty cool
Thank you for posting this, I have spent many hours in the observer seat of this aircraft. Miss working for Norwegian :(

Excellent crew.....many thanks again ;-)) Wish you a nice day!
Greetings Betsy.
Great video. A nice closeup from the cockpit. Amazing to watch this and pretending I am right there with them. BTW, like the white stripes that go so well with the shirts. Very sharp looking. Thanks for this!
Very welcome. Very glad you enjoyed the video!
amazing to see an manual flight like this,
Confident pilot

@@justplanes such a kind thing to say thanku so much ..love an god bless x
I tuoi video sono spettacolari ......ringrazio anche i piloti per la loro disponibilità nello spiegare le cose ....bravi davvero
Thank you very much
great when the pilots still do a visual when entering runway and not just taking towers approval great vid as usual
Ralph Colerick thats a requirement found in checklists
Nice flying want go to Swiss next year 😀😁😃😄🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
some nice manual hand flying ! better than selecting AP 10 seconds after rotation lmao
Haha yes indeed. Nowadays you see a lot of AP engagement right after takeoff. And occasionally you see pilots flying their plane to something like FL100 which is cool.
It’s funny you say that but my dad hand flies for a while as well and says a lot of pilots he flies with and many pilots at his airline hand fly. My dad knew one captain who hand flew HOLDING PATTERNS.
Hand flying isn’t quite gone yet at least not where flying was invented 😉
Well I'm one of the guys who engages the auto pilot at 400ft , and I fly sharper than any pilot when the auto pilot disengages and if you have seen an airline pilot roster , you'd understand why this flying tube isn't fun as you expect , Google FDM for airlines , most of us are tired of work and we just need to get to our destination safely not with the most fun way.
and most crashes are with auto pilot off :)
And the 787 is a fly by wire airplane , so even if you hand fly it , you are basically not hand flying it .
hope that makes it clear why auto pilot is engaged 10 sec after rotation aviation expert !
@@dxb8788 thanks for your comment. first of all, how do you fly sharper than the other pilots who often manually fly their aircraft? flying manually in the simulator every 6 months isnt going to cut it. if anything, you continuously letting the automation fly, will make your hand flying skills even worse. i heard about the FDM, but you wont get into trouble by management if you maintain the stabilization criteria? e.g. stabilized by 1000ft for landing. when did i claim to be an aviation expert? im just stating facts. side note, i see that you fly the b737? from your profile pic.
@@nikobelic4251 thats awesome! i guess it depends on the airline. like the airline your dad flies for, they probably encourage or allow pilots to manually hand fly their aircraft!
Flew from London to New York I one of these .. amazing experience
the Dreamliner is my favourite aircratf, so modern !
Happy birthday Oliver ;-)
haha.. its a funny Captain who gives tons of great explanations and presentations on this 4h30min film!
hats off to any pilots who hand fly for that long
Wow, this is the first time I noticed that you can start both engines at the same time on the 787.
same! pretty cool
Great crew and hand flying, no AP after gear is up.
Very true. We will have to ask the pilots we film not to engage the AP after takeoff 🤣🤣
Shows a more professional pilot.
Good morning or good night to pilot pilot.. good job becaful driving ✈️
very nice
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I’m glad to see this. I can you had plenty of time editing this video lol
Fantastic❤👍🏻
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it
💗
Even at the time of V1 the flaps were at 5. Is that enough for a Boeing 787 during take off.
Can't wait for Microsoft Flight Sim to release, get some hours and then send in my work apply to Norweigan.. 🤓
super sweet...
Thank you Joseph

Little bit of Yoda there...
Can u explain how u are able to turn so accurately
Is the captain using control wheel steering?
Here you can put a reminder to wake the crew up 5 min prior to TOD. 😁
Is this new video? Because i heard AirBerlin in the Radio, but AirBerlin doesn't exist anymore
Hi Rocco. You can click in the video link in the description and that will always give you the production year of the video and you’re right. This was filmed a couple of years ago.
F/O at the start sounded like he said I'm Ivan Milat
I thought he said Oliver the right hand pilot will be taking off and landing.. But the left hand does.
He said he would be the one sitting in the right seat for takeoff as opposed to the relief pilot Per but on this leg the left seat is the pilot flying. On the return the right seat is the pilot flying.
i din't know you can start both engines at the same time in a 787
maybe the cabin crew could deserve to be filmed one or two seconds during the flight briefing?
Look for my answer down!
co pilots a second officer?

We’ve only been doing this for 30 years now Gordon. I would think our viewers know that 😁🤷♂️. The films cost more than $20.000 each to produce. We have to make it work in order to continue making these films. But you’re getting nearly 4-5 hour videos loaded with information, presentations, fantastic views. Nowhere else will you see or get this.
Why have a damn music. Could not hear what the pilot says!!!
Where is the damn music?
What music?
